Or if you enhance the systems, make Diablo IV, and then Diablo III / ROS players get the systems upgrade free, and then can play with Diablo IV players who go back to play Diablo III content, but Diablo III players can't access the next Acts and new locations unless they buy Diablo IV. That way there is one community, and one massive shared world of Sanctuary.

last time I checked, that's called an expansion, not a sequel

posted a message on d3 meta broken

there is always going to be a 100% most efficient set up. it's an guarentee of game design. Even if every single class and set was exactly perfectly balanced down to the smallest fraction to not have an inherent advantage over the others, there would still be an optimal set-up because each set is better at different things, and high tier rifts require different things, otherwise we would essentially only have 1 set.. And because people are going to be competitive, even in that ideal world were every set is at the same power level, people are still going to want to use the optimal set up because it benefits them most. Hence the meta forms. It happens in every game that you will ever see or play that has any competitive aspect. Right now it's 1 dps 3 support. A couple of patchs ago it was 2 dps 2 support, before that it was 4 dps. It's always rotating, so stop your bitching.

before the ros there was no real competitive aspect, so there was no meta that most people were aware of. There was definitely a most efficient party set-up for core runs, and that was the meta among people who wanted clear speed more than anything, most people just didn't care enough because there was no real competition.

The only thing blizzard has any real control of is the difference between the tier 1 builds and the none, but there is always going to be a tier 1 build and party set-up, which by definition means there has to be a tier 2 and lower.

Don't like it? find 3 other people to play with who don't care. But don't ask blizzard to fix something that can't be fixed because you don't want to abide by rules other players set even if it inconveniences them just because you don't like playing the meta.

pretty sure every single class in d2 was garbage except for sorc unless you had an enigma. The lack of clear speed compared to what you could do with teleport was that big.

I mean, you could be doing it with every other class, but you were just doing what sorc was doing except way slower. That's not game balance in any sense of the word, although interestingly it did kind of balance out when everyone had enigmas because there was an actual reason to use other classes and pros and cons started mattering, but without enigma sorc was just far and away the best class

-There needs to be more variety in the end game farming, specificaly greater rifts.I think integrating something resembling the map system of PoE into great rifts would be great.

as in the random layouts? That's already in the game. The rest of the poe map system is terrible. The ability to roll mods on map is both irrelevant to d3 rifts currently and badly implemented anyways in poe (for point of reference, the poe system has item rarity and quantity. there is decent evidence that neither have any real impact on map drops, to the point where you are probably wasting money rolling maps). Having end game gated behind a random drop is also a miserable system as a whole, because it creates a situation where it is entirely possible for you to be able to play the end game content and because of bad rng can't play it. Diablo only really sees this problem when pushing for leaderboards, poe has this problem perputually in any map after 76 or so, when the map tiers go up to 80

although real talk, what exactly about the changes to firebirds did I miss that suddenly put them up to doing 125 rifts? I thought the last patch nerfed them? What am I missing here?

i think what a lot of people fail to understand is that the PTR is meant to test all of the changes, not just which ones are most broken. Blizzard however understands that people are just going to play the best build. So in order to make all of this time running the PTR not a waste of time, they are trying to cycle out which sets are at the top to get a better idea of where the sets at the bottom need to be. So what likely happens is when they feel they've gotten the data they want about a top build they nerf it so others can rise up instead and they can get data on that build, then when the patch actually releases hopefully most builds they tinkered with are going to be relatively close in power, and they have a firm idea of where to nerf/buff builds if they need to later. This is potentially why thorns didn't stay at the top long, it's not a very complicated build and there were almost no mechanical adjustments to be made, just numbers tuning, so they knocked it out so that they could test other sader builds. In contrast to firebirds, which has clearly proven that number changes aren't enough to keep it down, so they are looking at other ways of changing it, hence why firebirds has been at the top for a while.

posted a message on 2.4 strongest wd set?

jade is 80 capable still, legacy of nightmare is the best set by far, but zumassas iirc is 80 viable, it's just worse than LoN dagger of darts in every way.

the best crusader build is using LoN, and it's rivalling the unholiness that is firebirds right now. What the fuck is everyone complaining about again?

Blizzard said they were aware of the problem and were taking a look at it, but they aren't reverting the change they made, so take that how you will

it's still completely viable. It just forces people to figure out effecient ways of using it vs just blindly smashing builds together and clearing 70 rifts. What a lot of people forget is that there are a lot of very powerful uniques (stuff like triumverate with % increased damage), and builds that use them that rely solely on uniques, that up until now have been bad because of that. With these, they can still be really good by stacking those % increase damage powers without being insanely over the top.

posted a message on diablo 2 : harder than diablo 3?

diablo is overall harder, but d2 is occasionally a complete crapshoot. Random ohkos coming from bone festish packs, nith's corpse explode, original version diablo's inferno, uber mephisto could just randomly ohko you because of giant ass lightning bolts + conviction nuking your resists, ancients could be rippy if you got dogpiled, melee builds randomly ripped to an iron maiden curse from hell knights. d2 overall was much easier, but there was more abritrary ohko stuff in d2. Most of it has been fixed out of d3.
