If the Dust Devils are considered Physical by the COE ring (which is what I have been saying) and are based on the skill rune for everything else (that I didn't notice) then that is quite a big deal. Given how strong the ring is and how popular it is with the build you might as well still consider Dust Devils as physical.

The damage bonus on this ring is out of this world. the damage you do from DD when it rotates to physical is monstrous and as i've said, it does not matter what rune you pick, the damage comes from the rings physical buff.

this is the near exact copy of mannercookies WW build that he posted even before 2.2 went live. it differs in one rune used and one other spell being overpower over warcry. pathetic imho

It's not manacookies build or anyone elses, anyone with a bit of meat between the ears will have worked this build out for themselves within about 5 minutes of playing with the Wastes gearset, it's an obvious build. There are clever, interesting and creative builds in this game but this is definitely not one of them.

It's like getting defensive about who invented "cheese on toast" when you gave a bunch of people some bread, cheese and a toaster.

Dust devils are always physical, the fact that my damage always blows through the roof when it Convention of Elements rotates to physical is evidence of that, since I often use either lightning/cold runes on whirlwind, it's ALWAYS physical from the ring where the damage happens. Dust Devils are physical, they are a physical effect and changing the rune does not change that, it only changes the whirlwind damage.

If it was cold/lightning then I would see a massive damage increase during those elements on the ring, and it does not happen.

You've not tried using it and dropping the IK 4 set? I cleared a 46 earlier using 6/2 and Bul Kathos weapons, was an absolutely terrible rift with low mob density and full of yellows, was running 45's with the same setup in under 10mins a time. Using Convention of Elements combined with a physical build and Heart Slaughter like you have would be very strong.

Depending on the quality of your old weapon it might be better than the 4 set. Maybe if you're going higher you need the 100% uptime for survival, but having a strong base damage and then having Berserker up on top of that during the Convention ring buff (so you use WOTB just as the ring is hitting physical) will give you monstrous burst damage.

Obviously it would be easier to get close to a Vanilla D3 Launch server than a Vanilla WoW server but why would you?

For the gear? Completely useless Legendaries and a generic WoW style stat stick gear system with nothing else?

For the Elites? Stupid Unkillable combinations and monsters that had to be cheesed and kited to be killed

Spec Diversity? Glass Cannon or pure tank, enjoy your zero damage revenge spamming Barbarian stuck in Act1 because no Stormshield/Resists.

Challenge? Oh yes, running around in ACT3 letting Tyrael kill everything so you can get 5 Stacks so that you can kill Siegebreaker and repeat.

Other stuff? Rubber banding and lag, amazingly bad optimisation when you start a game (oh the FPS!).. The repair costs that were so high that you could go bankrupt, even if you didn't die they were ridiculous.

Gems? I didn't in my whole time see a high level gem, I played the fuck out of the game and none of my friends had seen a high level gem pattern. Unless you were a famous streamer or forking out real money for the gold then you were stuck with the peasant gems.

The bosses were challenging I'l give you that, but everything else about the game at launch was junk compared to now. It was fun because it was new. I could not get over how badly they had designed the gear after the masterpiece of awesomeness that was Diablo2, I mean how could you go from that to what we had in D3 launch? It was sad. Vanilla D3 had some extreme unpopularity while it currently seems fairly popular and people generally think it a good game...

I think it's best left to the past when it comes to Vanilla Launch D3.

    I like the idea.

Basically you spend most of your time dying to everything that moves in act 3, after hundreds of hours of farming and no drops your chars gear still sucks and then you quit playing Diablo 3 out of frustration/boredum. Sounds like an exciting game mode, items can drop but probably never will so you can play for 10 years and your character will still be shit.

I beat the game on Inferno pre-nerf and I always thought at the time that the gear design was crap, that the game was too punishing (because stuff that could kill you would kill you regardless of skill, you just had to outgear it). The bossfights were great but the rest was junk. Game is so much better now.

posted a message on What weapon for 2.2 WW?

It does seem limited with options, as the spec really does not work without Bul Kathos weapons if you want to focus on Whirlwind. I tried a lightning build with Shard of Hate + Odyn's Son and while the damage was good it was not sustainable at all, you just don't have any Fury and thus need a Fury generator.

It's probably a problem that can be solved but Bul Kathos simply does that for you, no need for any cooldown reduction or resource cost reduction to sustain it, you can get the 100% WOTB uptime with it, and also run a dust devils physical build with no need to run the lightning rune. If you're going for a raw pet spec then IK Maul is the clear winner but you will need to find a solution to ensure the cooldown reduction is sufficient to keep 100% on WOTB. Obsidian ring may be an option, Leoric Helm for raw CDR maybe.

If you're playing WW then you I'm guessing you will likely want the Skull Grasp ring as it now increases the % weapon damage of Whirlwind by a considerable amount, I'm not sure if the second ring will need to be Ring of Granduer, Stone of Jordan or the new Crit buff ring.

posted a message on Perm WOTB ?

I've been playing with Bul Kathos weapons, it's perma whirlwind + perma WOTB with ease, no need for any CDR and no downtime. You don't need a Fury builder because you passively gain it at a very rapid rate (with BK 2set) and stay capped at 100% whenever you attack anything, even using WW to move around between mobs for the movement speed increase. I haven't had much time to play with it and not had any other decent 1 handers, but it was hopeless with a 2hander... I'm guessing the new BK set bonus makes a fair difference.

Can't say it's the most damage as there are definitely better weapons out there for that, but in terms of uptime and speed of clearing a T6 rift this is the best option with IK.. Still think Raekors is faster for that but greater rifts may be a different matter. So many items have been buffed, it feels like they just bring out a new buff and make everything another step more ridiculous.

At this point they could do with re-adding monster level 1-10 because T6 is now so easy that you can't maintain gameplay as stuff just dies too fast, it's all insta-melt on contact.

posted a message on IK set update - better or worse?

It's a lot stronger than the original IK buff, you can pair it with a set of the newly buffed Bul Kathos weapons and have perma Whirlwind with any rune of your choice (dust devils), you even whirlwind when not fighting mobs because you have so much passive Fury generation and the weapons make you move faster. WOTB becomes permanent as you can get it back off cooldown within seconds and if you combine it with the Whirlwind damage ring + WOTB bracers you turn into a complete monster with the 6 set giving 500% damage.

Overpowered? No it isn't because everything is overpowered in this game, everything is quite literally retarded since I came back in S2 (didnt play since launch)... Back when people were crying Shard of Hate was overpowered because it made T3 easy and was critting for 4million per tick.... Now you have people running around doing 300million + damage charges leaving monster dots on targets, and Demon Hunters melting entire rifts with their sentries and T6 might aswell be normal mode..

Really this is nothing, Raekors is still faster for clearing a T6 rift.

Drop 2 of your survival passives, get bloodthirst (healing) and weapon master (damage). You also could really use picking up Battlerage. Next up you're playing a Whirlwind spec but using Ground Stomp (which breaks the animation), now i'd understand if you were using the trembling stomp rune as it gives some pretty brutal damage, but even then it's not really ideal for a whirlwind spec due to the fact that it stops you from whirlwinding. I understand the big stun adds a lot of control but with whirlwind you can very easily get yourself out of trouble. Ground Stomp is an amazing ability for both solo and especially group play but I don't think it fits with a whirlwind spec personally.

You also have no main fury generator, I've not tried playing that way but I'd imagine it pretty frustrating, having Frenzy with the Smite rune can allow you to quickly build Fury when in need and also allows you to effectively stunlock monsters, while still providing respectable single target damage. Wrath of the Berserker is certainly popular but personally I don't like it, the downtime is annoying and makes you feel gimped without it, if you're going to take it then i'd think you would go for the 50% damage and not the dodge bonus.

It seems almost as if you're trying to play a tank/control/support spec and mix it with whirlwind, which in my eyes is really a conflict of interests. Whirlwind works best with Overpower (does not break animation), battle rage (passive damage) and warcry (passive survival/healing and fury generator). Avalanch is definitely worth you looking at, with the rune that allows you to stack it to 3 it can provide good burst, while the whirlwind provides a good way of using fury to reduce the cooldown. There are a tonne of things to consider but personally I think your spec (as I see it on armory) is an issue.

    Looking at your gear

Maybe you should drop your shield for another 1hander for playing whirlwind, I understand it's a pretty kickass shield with the lightning damage and attack speed but if you're struggling in Torment 2 with this level of gear something has to be wrong, I've not tested playing with your exact setup but It stands out to me as one of the only issues I can really see. Obviously getting a weapon like Shard of Hate, Odyns Son, Fulminator or Thunderfury can be a game changer, but you have to make do with what you have.

My tank Barbarion can farm T6 act 4 without any deaths and has no life steal, it's slow though. My main Barbarion uses life steal, but why wouldn't it? You use what is best for you at this moment in time and when that is gone you adapt, there is no merit to playing without life steal at the moment, my tank barb would use it if it had a piece of gear with it available.

Damage is low at the moment though, wrong gear equiped as I was experimenting with boosting toughness when I last played it.

Isn't this build broken at 70 with IK being a lvl60 set? Shame.
As far as I know, found sets are treated just like found legendary items and will scale up when found by players above their minimum required level.

Crafted items don't scale up, but IK is not crafted.
I'd like to think that would be the case, but if you look at the armory the set items all have levels next to them where legendaries don't, also the fact that you cannot find a lvl60 set item below 60 and because they have specific set bonuses balanced to a level.
The lvl specified in the armory means the level that the item starts dropping key word here being starts. ^^
    Hope you're right.

posted a message on Budding Barbarian looking for 2.01 guide.
You should drop your offhand for a shield, because you have such a strong mainhand and such a weak offhand you're actually reducing your damage by using that offhand weapon, though if you had a shield you would be adding to the damage by boosting stats. Or in the ideal scenario you would use another strong 1handed weapon. Your gear is not so bad, helmet, legs and shoulders could do with replacing but otherwise it's alright... Definitely dump the offhand weapon though. Gemming for strength is fine and you have the basic idea just like all classes with stacking crit chance + crit damage %. What should you be farming? You should replace those weak points and then get ready for the expansion, assuming you are going to play it there is not much reason to fuss over lvl60 items too much.

As for spec, there are a tonne of good specs now. I personally use.

    Frenzy - Sidearm

    Rend - Bloodlust

    Ground Stomp - Trembling Stomp

    Furious Charge - Merciless Assault

    Warcry - Invigorate

    Battle Rage - Marauders Rage.

So you might ask why I play this spec? There is no downtime waiting for cooldowns feeling like a wet flannel, you have high burst and good control aswell as an escape mechanic, along with good self healing. Ground Stomp for me regularly crits over 2.5mil per target, sometimes above 3million or 4mil + in group play, and along with that it stuns everything in the area for 4 seconds, which means it will not only save your life countless times but it's also a big hitting attack. Furious Charge with the above rune is an escape mechanic that (with + physical % gear) can also hit for well over 2million per target, due to the rune it has no cooldown in large packs, meaning you can quite realistically spam it.

What about Rend? 0.5% of max life healing on that rune results in some big healing on large packs and 1000% weapon damage is a massive amount of damage, in aoe packs Rend is one of the most powerful spells you have, it's not as visual as a ground stomp with the burst but in actual overall damage Rend is incredible.

I'm able to comfortably farm T6 with this build and can breeze through Torment 4 difficulty, I sometimes quickly switch to an ancients + WOTB spec for bosses for the ultimate burst, but I really don't like the concept while just playing as the dps lost during the downtime is not even close to being made up for with the uptime.
