I was looking through some articles on the Diablo wiki and elsewhere, and came back across that screen shot of a work-in-progress model of Diablo from the cinematic trailer. The little blurb accompanying it noted it's feminine shape, and made an offhand comment suggesting Diablo's soulstone had been driven into the head of a woman.
For a while now I had been wondering why exactly Leah had been introduced--Deckard Cain had served her apparent role well enough in the past, why add a character needlessly? Some people have already speculated that Cain will die at some point during Diablo 3, and therefore Leah is the heir to his role as a guide.
But what if she is in fact going to be possessed by Diablo (or a combination of the three prime evils, as some have suggested), and become his last physical manifestation in Sanctuary? She may in fact even be the one to kill Cain, having been corrupted, before she finally transforms into this iteration of Diablo.
She is known to have some kind of supernatural power, as she is seen having a vision of the impending meteor strike in the trailer. Tal Rasha made a powerful body for Baal in LOD, making him more formidable than his brothers that possessed more ordinary human hosts. And we've seen that Diablo's physical appearance alters based on the body he possesses, his form being skinnier and more upright in the body of the prince in Diablo 1, but more hulking and bestial in Diablo 2 after possessing a powerful warrior.
I don't have a shred of proof for any of this, obviously, but given Leah's somewhat mysterious role in this coming installment in the series--and the feminine form of that model--it seems at least possible. And for the reasons above, it makes a strange sort of sense in my brain.
Maybe you guys disagree, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

In Diablo it's known as "The High Heavens" and "The Burning Hells". So when he says "hells" it's correct.
Second We are not Blizzard, just a group of people who love the series and enjoy the games
Third He was using irony. A literary concept in which one thing is stated, while its opposite is implied
Fourth have a nice day. -

SFJake posted a message on Diablo III economyPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
At least, it was highly... realistic.Quote from Magistrate
Quote from Umpa
Might I add, D2JSP was essentially an auction house. However, it was out of game and not easily accessible and completely screwed up the economy.
JSP would have worked as an auction house had it not been run by corrupt moderators and caretakers. People could be paid off, people could earn points for running the site, and so on. FG could appear out of thin air if operators so desired. Friends in high places meant rich friends in low places. Corruption and greed are essentially what foiled it all.
It was a great idea, but unfortunately was not presided-over by an objective computer system, like an in-game auction house would be.

ScyberDragon posted a message on PvP Globes ExpoundedSeriously?! You just justified a major change in the mechanics of the skill system by embracing change and functionality but disregard the same type of changes from D2 to D3.Posted in: News & Announcements
The skill system was not an improvement on the same mechanic. In D1, skills you obtained were all based on luck of drops. In D2, there was no luck, every player had access to the same skills per class. The whole principle of the mechanic was thrown out. Which is fine because it made the game better. That is what D3 is doing with the flaws of D2. You can simply justify the change in your own mind because you were ok with this change. Many were not and claimed the same issue for D2 that you are trying to claim for D3.
With the AH, a gold based economy is not from wow. Many games used AH's before WoW. The oldest example of this economy would be our actual world. There is a reason why we use this same system in RL, because it works better than a bartering system. I don't have to spend pointless hours finding the one person who wants my item and happens to have the item I want in return for trade. This is just an improvement of the trading system from D2. In fact, this has more in common with the trade system of D2 then the skill system does of D1 to D2. So if you were ok with that change, I can't imagine how you are not okay with this improvement to the same system.
finally, this thread is on the health globes in D3. If you would like to continue talking specifically about that topic you may, otherwise these rants have gone completely off topic. -

ScyberDragon posted a message on PvP Globes Expoundednot to make a long story short but you do remember how skills worked in D1 compared to D2? In D1, there were no skill trees. Skills were based on books that you found. In D2, they got rid of the dropped loot mechanic of skills and replaced it with skills trees. This was a huge change between those two games and many D1 fans complained how it changed the whole structure of the game and characters. However, you feel like there was minimal change between the two games.Posted in: News & Announcements
I think a lot of people just fear change until they play the game and realize how much of it still feels likes Diablo. -

They could tax it if they wanted to. The government can tax anything. That's like saying that they shouldn't have a sales tax on video games because it's so easy to find them in torrents (actually, all software, music, video, and image media, for that matter).
I think it's just because of a phobia that has been drilled in to the sheep brains of our culture over the decades that it's still illegal.
I'm glad this thread is back :*)

This mod is a reaction to all of the positive and negative rep spamming and the resultant whining the staff has been receiving for a while now. It is not a cheap shot at trying to increase activity. The statistics, however, are accurate.

Oh. You didn't provide context so I assumed you were talking about the event of a tie.
Well, logically, if someone already has a custom title, they would just have the opportunity to change the title again. That or they simply wouldn't be bothered about custom titles and just get the reputation. However, I explained the former so there should be no need to be concerned about the latter.
If you win, you get x and y. If you already have x, you can change it. Seems logical enough to me.
I'm not sure why anyone would have to think that. There is no rule about winning that is affected by a nominee having a custom title or not.
I redid it. I hope it's easier for all of you to understand now. Sorry for the ambiguity
