Im just curious since a ton of people keep saying how unbalanced PvP is going to be in Diablo 3. Was d2 unbalanced to you kids? What class was god tier and was unbeatable? Just wanna see what type of class embarassed you because you lacked the ability to make a strategy to win. So post ahead, ill make 1 for you.

Ha you people really think they are going to patch it in a month or 2? This reeks of half year - year patch at best. They couldn't even put chat channels....CHAT CHANNELS in SC2 for about half a year. How the hell are they going to put "pvp" content in any faster?
Oh well, there is 1 good thing coming about this. I save $100 and get the game when its discounted like hell and actually complete and all of the scrubs who play the game to trade their swordy for their belty will have all withered away and moved onto WoW 2.0 where they belong.

Funny, obviously noone in here actually did PvP in Diablo. You guys either PvP'd in WoW which is nothing alike or you went to pubs and got your face smashed which is pathetic. So if you sucked at PvP great...don't play it, if you are actually good at the game however you would know PvP isn't all about gear or level, or nerfs and buffs for that fact ha. Sad sad little WoW kids.

    Ha Blizzard is so pathetic.

If their work with patching channels and shit into SC2 then expect PvP patch in about half a year. I can't believe how bad they are doing at developing this game it's comical. 10+ years to develop it and they still have no idea what they are doing. Do us a favor Blizzard, release the game...and just let it die. Diablo would of been better off dying with 2 and at least go out on a win. Get Jay out of office cause that fool is confused as hell.

Ugh sounds like a lot of crying.... Duriel really? Monsters that drop acid or poison on death really? Only problem that is even logical to complain about in Diablo 2 is the hacking. Be nice if Blizzard actually does their job this time.

You do realize that you have played (or even not) less than 1/20 of the game, and you don't have a single clue how the classes perform at the later stages of the game. Besides, everything is subject to change before the game ships, that's why it's called beta.
Um you do realize we have all of the characters skills, and their runewords, and their passives right? Do realize we also have a good chunk of item database? He definitely has a clue about how the classes perform at later stages in the game, anyone with 2 seconds of google does.

    Quote from Conax

DUNCAN99: "small amount of people" rofl, how come D2 survived this long? Not to kill mephisto, diablo or baal one more time thats for sure. Also, there wouldnt be nerfs in PvE because the PvP and PvE skills are separate and they can adjust things specifically to PvP without nerfing PvE. The fun in a nonrated arena wont last long, it will get boring and repetetive when there is no specific goal. A part of the fun in PvP is to climb rankings, get achievements, get braging rights about your rank/rating etc. Also, you're wrong about Diablo 3 not being competetive when it comes to gear. Its a competetive nature there aswell even though its not competetive in a tournament kind of way. People will compare gear with others and start braging about your awsome gear once you've collected the gear you want and thats competetive in its own way.

If the nonrated arena came with more rewards then just cool banners, achievements etc it would be alot more fun. For example: The higher "rank" you get in PvP even though its not visible, the cooler you can look through vanity items. That would make the arena alot more rewarding because eventually you can stand out from the rest if you get high rank enough to get that last PvP vanity item to look awsome. Having just a banner to brag about aint that cool.
I agree with you on a lot of your points, however to say that nonrated arena won't last long but praise Diablo 2 for surviving so long on nonranked pvp just seems all sorts of contradiction. The PvP community will do what we always have done and that is make our rules, make our ladders, and take control of the PvP. We don't require and honestly I don't want Blizzard to intervene with this process, this is what makes a community shine. We don't have to worry about Blizzard making radical changes because some new comers don't quite understand all of the mechanics and how to be good at PvP.
I am sure Capcom when they made Street Fighter had the idea that it would be a global phenomenon and a huge tournament game...not. The community makes the game in the long run, the developer pretty much just gives us the tools to do what we want. If the community deems that Diablo 3 become an esport or a hardcore PvP game then it will happen, we won't get help from Blizzard but who cares? As far as I am concerned from listening to interviews, the Diablo team isn't even good at Diablo, they struggle with PvM and couldn't hang with PvP, those arn't the people I want sticking their nose in the communities business.

posted a message on Diablo III Open Q&A
Q: Will there be more PvP modes besides arena mode?
The developers found that PvP in Diablo II mostly split players up for fear of getting ganked, meaning more players were playing in private games than playing together in public ones. This led to a focus on on a dedicated PvP mode with dedicated PvP support, the arena, and a PvP progression system. However, more PvP modes are being considered, and Jay Wilson even said that they are looking into a dueling option similar to Diablo II, although nothing concrete is yet known and they aren't sure if such a mode will make the initial release.
This is probably only real interesting thing I got out of Blizzcon beside collectors edition. Hopefully they do put in Diablo 2 style dueling or at least mid game option of dueling for as long as you want and not just 1 match.

    Quote from superdaleman

I have one major concern with PVP victory being based on total number of teams kills after a finite period of time- won't this promote teams to target only 1 or 2 players on the other team who may have weaker defenses (i.e. the wizard or demon hunter classes). I don't want to be a demon hunter and constantly running for my life every session. Similarly, I wouldn't want to play a barb who may rarely be targeted for a kill and thus no sense of threat to your character dying. I know Blizzard is trying to properly balance dps and offensive skills, but I'm guessing the defensive skills may not be getting the same scrutiny.

A possible improvement or solution to this is to make a random alive player on a team worth 2 points instead of one and for some short duration (30sec or so) and randomly change the 2-pt character throughout the match. This way there's more strategy and thinking whether to target the 2pt character or continue after the weakest character who's being exploited.

Hoping PVP doesn't suck or become super repetitive
If they add in that Diablo 2 style dueling then who cares. A lot of people won't even bother with arena then unless they wanna dick around.

Also the weakest is always going to be ganked and jumped regardless of format, so making a random player worth points won't help you. Once the weak is gone they can jump the strong and pretty much dominate the game.

where did you get 90% dmg reduction?

70% reduction from runed zombie dog skill. and 20% from passive when your below 50% health. so below 50% you dmg reduc is insane. and then you recover life back from spirit walk and haunt so you never die.
Well a few things wrong here. We have no idea how much change they are going to do to skills for PvP, they did say they would change them however so you might not get 90% or that much life leech. Also we have no idea if they will cap the damage reduction like they did in Diablo 2, 90% could be very useless if the cap is %50. Noone knows at this point what will work and what won't, we won't know till we get true PvP stats.

Okay, who should I ask for permission to give my opinion on the subject? I don't want to upset anyone now with my words.
On a serious note, this subject has been beaten to death a million times alone just on these forums. I am sure this question comes up a lot in other forums as well, and damn is that odd...since you know PvP is "fake" and doesn't exist in Diablo universe.
An honest answer to your question is there is no answer. It all depends on the realm you played on and what era. Majority of East public games were trade games and baal runs with the occasional duel game. However that did not mean there weren't private duel games lined up or ones hidden from your view at the moment. From my experience of playing Diablo since Diablo 1 all the way to about 2009, majority of players I met who stayed with the game beyond leveling a few characters all leveled and mf gear so they could duel. Obviously according to Jay wilson and this forum tho all of my years and the probably million(s) of people I have met are all minority and that is great.

Oh and PS if I offended you...I am soo so sorry ha....

I don't know about you guys, but the only reason that I ever leveled a character on Diablo 2 was so that I could PvP at end game. I don't think anyone had fun just spamming baal runs till 99 and then just stoping... PvP has always been Diablo's real end game.
Bingo. For anyone to make a claim and say PvP wasn't "real" in Diablo series, or that it wasn't "true" just shows how blind they are to the series.
Yes there are people that enjoy killing monsters, they enjoy grinding levels and gear. I have met quite a few on my many years of Diablo. However at least on US East, I found MANY MANY MANY MANY more who grinded gear and levels so they can trade so they can make PvP characters. It is basic gaming formula 101 here, when the content is so played out people find alternate ways to play. PvP is and always has been and always will be a huge part of the Diablo series whether Jay or you PvM heroes wanna accept it or not. I am also not dumb enough to try and say that PvP is end all be all way to play Diablo like most of you PvM heroes who seem threatened by PvP'ers.

    Vlad, Get over yourself buddy.

In other threads you jump quickly to your own defence that your not a basher of PVM players, and that all you want is your precious hostility button and in game dueling back. Yet in this post you quickly turn on your PVM players bash button and start saying how much PVP is a huge part of the diablo series and us PVM heroes are threatened by the PVP'ers. And also, there's no need to get all teary because Jay Wilson didn't lean towards PVP implementation a bit more in Diablo III. Obviously the blizzard development team decided to stick to what Diablo III is truely about and in the same process give you PVP'ers who like the option to break away from the normal game for a bit of different fun, the ARENA.

Furthermore, "people who say PVP wasn't real in the diablo series, truely shows how blind they to the series" That's a laugh, I can't even comment on that one mate. But if you knew anything about what the Diablo series really is, then you would know.

    It's about.

    -Lore and epic story.
-Cooperative based gameplay on and offline (to meet the end of that story with other people or by yourself)
-The rich, satisfying, enjoyable.. Item hunt.
-Pick up the game for 30 mins and enjoy every minute (Accomplish something no matter how small it may be)

So please before you go expressing to much "I know everything" think about what your saying.
Haha honestly? I bashed PvM'ers how? By saying "I am also not dumb enough to try and say that PvP is end all be all way to play Diablo like most of you PvM heroes who seem threatened by PvP'ers." which basically means I am not so blind as you PvM heroes who believe a game is only meant to be played one way. I am fine with both aspects combined, however you people who obviously are threatened by PvP'ers try and castrate anything and everything PvP oriented like it's Satan worshiping. Get over yourself fool, not you or Blizzard can tell me how to play the game, I am not telling you how to play the game nor am I wasting my time bashing you for only killing monsters. I stated a simple fact that PvP has always been a large part of the Diablo universe whether Blizzard or you PvM heroes want to acknowledge it or not. Become apart of the community and stick around as long as I have and you would see that, however I don't like to make false claims but I am pretty sure you are one of the kids who played on Bnet and got spanked and ran off crying because someone was mean to you, or you played offline so the big nasties didn't come get you. Hey...that's fine, play how you want, but don't talk out of your ass like you actually know anything.

By the way I voted a mixture of both. You can't PvP without PvMing. GW did it and that was rather boring, I don't like everything handed to me, I want a challenge and well Diablo PvM per say doesn't offer that but finding gear does. Hopefully inferno mode won't end up like "Ubers" where it can be solo'd pretty easily.

posted a message on scripted fights and carebears?
    Quote from Sabvre

    Quote from VladDracul

PvP'ers call PvM'ers carebear because they stick to fighting very easy monsters as their experience, which is fine for them. Others out here in the world enjoy a challenge and well Diablo PvM has never offered that short of making a build that makes absolutely no sense which you would make I suppose if you got bored of running the same monsters 9000000000x. Look at Doom or ID games, they invented TDM...why? Cause playing against humans and killing them is fun. People who play FPS and just play campaign are carebear. People who play softcore and not hardcore are carebear, people who don't duel in hardcore are carebear. In the end everyone is carebear in one way or another so that doesn't matter. Now for people being called scrubs instead of newbs well thats simple too. Newbs is short for newbie, which means you are new. Scrub means you suck, it is pretty simple if you suck you are a scrub, if you are new you are a newb.

And don't worry to much about the words carebear and newb and scrub cause this is Diablo, you are gonna get grieved a lot on battle.net just make sure you thank Jay Wilson for taking away hostility so you have less ability to fight back.

Vlad... please don't talk on this topic. You are one of the incessent PVP > PVM people... as well as the people that keep bitching about pvp in d3.
Um when have I ever bitched about PvP in Diablo 3 buddy? If anything I ask for hostility back and duels mid game and not in an arena only, other than that it's fine as is, the community and I don't need Blizzard to hold our hands to make the game how we want.
Also I am a PvP>PvM guy huh? Where did you get that out of what I wrote here? Man you sure added a lot to this discussion here too, can't wait to see you in game....oh wait youll be one of those kids hiding in private games so the big bad pkers won't get you. Keep walking scrub.
