posted a message on New Class Announced: The Wizard
Did you people not read the character page? The Wizard name was chosen very carefully apparently, there's a whole segment on how it's the uncouth magicians who use magic for they're own ends are not worthy to be called civilized sorcerers, instead they're branded Wizard.

Oh, and in the modestly cinematic class trailer... did anyone else notice the the skeleton king seemed almost exactly like King Leoric (you know, the giant skeleton king you killed) from Diablo 1?

DS: So no monthly fees for Battle.net?

Wilson: I can't say 100% that there will be no charges, but our goal is to sell a boxed product. The problem is we're multinational, so each individual market is different. The boxed model works in Asia for example, but not everywhere. If we publish a financial model then we have to do it simultaneously for each region [in Asia], and it's hard to say what each will look like. What I can say that a boxed game is our goal, not a subcription game, though I can't say for absolute certain that there will never be any fees. Just that it's not our goal.

years in our world and diablo world dont need to be the same...maybe people live 200 years in diablo world..so he doesnt have to die

According to Blizzard I think the average life expactancy is around 40. Deckard Cain was called Cain the elder in Diablo 1, so he's probably super- old realtivly. In Diablo 2 though Tyrael said he swore an oath to protect the Horadrim, and therefore he must have been gaurding Cain as the last of the Horadrim explaining his old age.

I do think Deckard Cain will die though, because Blizzard said that hea may have been thefirst victim of the new evil on there main website.

I do hate the idea that he like gives you his powers for the last fight or something, it would ruin multiplayer if all the guys who had finished the game were that much stronger just by defenition.

upturned blade is not on his chest..altough the altar he stands on looks like an upturned sword...hmm

Remember that in the storyboard artwork thing you only saw the sword on his chest after the armor disappeared. You wouldn't really be able to tell anyway, all you can really see is a siouloutte

Wikipedia said that Diablo 2 sold 4 million copies, that's a pretty good estimate I think, not sure if it's national or global though.

Don't even use the sword or colors as evidence, just try an elimination technique, I'm sure it's Imperius.

It does make sense. One thing I found interesting though was according to Richard A. Knaak who described Imperius the sword or cross shape on that angels chest should be facing the other direction. Blizzard may have changed this though as a cross has more of a impact on people than a sword.

No, the kept it, allow me:

He described it as an upturned sword.

    upturned
    One entry found.

1 : to turn up or over
    2 : to direct upward

    From merriam-webster.

A sword is reguarly considered to have the blade up so by the first defenition it would be just like in the artwork, blade down.

The second defentition would be like you meant, though I think they mean the first defenition.

Appear to be the same angel as this one:

Notice the winged armor and the wings that are different from Tyrael's which are much more tendril like.

He also looks pretty heavily armored.

The new concept art looks like he's stepping out of a portal.

Very interesting, what do you all think?

I'm working on an update for a Diablo article for d3armory.com, I'll answer this question in it, (a minor part, the full thing is 23 pages long) but my advice is to try a process of elimination, it has to be Imperius, there's no one else it could be, unless it's someone totally new. I would do it for you , but I'm horribly busy on the article update

Good find, I've already set Ureh as my new Wallpaper =)

It's definitely the same Angel but I'm not sure it's Imperius, the symbol on his chest looks more like a cross than a sword. His wings have something hellish about them, maybe he's actually Inarius (Tyrael's brother and creator of Sanctuary).

As for the altar I think it has something to do with Ureh, if I remember correctly in Kingdom of Shadows there was something about a stone located at the summit of the mountain and another deep inside the mountain which actually enabled Ureh to stay in the mortal realm or something. This is somewhat reminiscent of this artwork.

Also I think this monster might be the one who attacked Captain Dumon and his crew at the beginning of Kingdom of Shadows (my memory is fuzzy though)

Crosses don't belong in Diablo, I know they appear in gameplay on palidens and stuff, but that's just a fluke, there's no Jesus, or in fact God in Diablo, so there should be no crosses. Regardless wether you think it's a sword or a cross on his chest the alter thing very clearly seems to be a sword to me. The flaming red wings are natural, we've only seen 2 angels, Tyrael and Hadriel, Hadriel could be a servant of Tyrael's or something so he has the same armor colors and stuff, but impereius is all red and flaming colored, so this fits him. That and the armor. Though I do admit after playing with it in photoshop, it looks like there is a portal behind him.

Red wings have nothing to do with Inarius, Inarius would look like an overlord from Diablo 1, disqualifing this angel for being him. Unless he could change his appearance, in which case he wouldn't look like an angel of war, he would look a lot more like the most beutiful thing you ever saw, just like he was before Mephisto got him.

It's obviously Imperius, didn't you notice that he has a helm and armor, just like the angel in the comet artwork, also notice the thing he's on, looks like an upturned sword, which is Imperius' emblem. The same that appeared on his chest after his armor seemed to be stripped away. Try going in photoshop and flipping the image upright, it seems to be an ornamental sword/dagger thing.

I thought it was amazing until she said "I don't think it's safe here..." since it was completely off-topic and random.

I really liked the music. All you need to do is record it off a youtube video.

I wouldn't think it's too safe either if a Meteorite just smashed through the roof and made a giant crator in the Church... oh, and the whole angel rising out of it.
