This is merely an idea for "Worlds of Starcraft" that I think would have the potential to be a major blockbuster. It would be much like Diablo 2, but instead of characters classes you would have ship classes. It would have quests, which would have you going about to numerous planets. There would be random drops as well, ranging from armor to different kinds of cannons and so on. You could also go to planets to buy certain items.
In addition, after all quests have been completed you would have the option to "take over" planets. The planets would have the option to give you money, surrender, or go to war. Every planet would also be bound to a certain group. Terran, Protoss, and Zerg would be the highest and strongest groups, but there would also be more groups to be apart of. Thus, you could have enemies or allies.
I think this would be a great idea.

You mentioned that "maybe the announcement is that they are retiring the franchise" statement is incredibly bogus.
First of all, Blizzard has never said that they are announcing a game at Blizzcon.
Secondly, you don't need a team of 40 people to retire a project.
You guys need to stop going off on all of these tangents. Don't get a piece of information and mico-analyze it until it becomes irrelevant. Take whatever information is given, and use some common sense. Lets be a little more reasonable here.

Glad to see many people are in the same situation as me. Don't get me wrong im pulling for Diablo 3 as much as anybody. As of right now, im convincing myself that I'll have time to play it. If it ever friggen comes out.
And to Mosk...
Welcomke to the forums. The whole 3D environmental artist for the team behind 1 or 2 is some old news, but perhaps the most significant out of all the D3 rumors.

When Diablo 2 came out I was 12 years old. Now if Diablo 3 comes out in 2009 or 2009 i'll be in my twenties. I'm a premed major and I'm on a scholarship for tennis. Any free time I get is usually involves getting together with friends, or hanging out with my girlfriend.
I would have very little time to play Diablo 3.

Either or, it would be very unlikely for Blizzard to be working on Starcraft:Ghost, Starcraft 2, and Worlds of Starcraft at the same time. Definitely an April fools cruel joke.

Now they are introducing Starcraft 2. I know it's still in development and hasn't been shown in depth, but from what i've seen its exactly like the original Starcraft except with slight unit modifications and updated graphics.
They can really expand on the single player game for Starcraft 2, but if you guys are like me, you're going to buy the game to play online. I just really hope there are major changes in Starcraft 2, or im simply not going to be that interested.

Probably would prefer legion of the Damned. I havn't played D2 in a coon's age, but I used to be absolutely obsessed from 2002-2005. Not very interested in it now, but if Diablo 3 comes out I will definitely be playing all of the time.
I play on the East Realms. Mainly Ladder

Instead, all we need to know is that there is an unannounced project, which raises the chances that the project will be Diablo 3.
