The conference wasn't surprising in the least. It has been fairly clear that Diablo 3 for some time was planned for a late 2011 release. But now we are getting close to the point of release and now that Blizzard must share information pertaining to said release (for shareholder purposes) they must cover all aspects of it and deem that the release of Diablo 3 may take place either in late 2011 or early 2012. Neither of these outcomes are surprising or really in the grand scheme of things much better than the other.
I'm mainly displeased with fan reaction. Some people obviously protect themselves from disappointment by saying that the game will be out in late 2012 or 2013 so they aren't surprised, when in saying that they clearly overlook the facts. The same can be said for individuals who only up until the calendar year turned to the year 2011 thought Diablo 3 would be released in 2010, when again they seem to be overlooking the facts for some reason unbeknownst to me. But these people that thought the release would come much earlier than it has now cry out in rage that the game might come out in 2012, like they will have to wait two more years.
The game is at the point of development where calendar years really are of little relevance anymore. It is now a matter of months. When you put it in those terms we are in all likelihood nine to twelve months away from release. Which believe me isn't bad at all. I myself have been waiting for this game since 2003. I would search the internet for information pertaining to even a hint that this game was in the making. I even remember visiting this site when it was Diablo3.com back in 2004 or 2005, I can't remember when this site got started up.
The point of my speech being. Chill out. It is a game, that is not being made directly for you as an individual, but for us a collective whole. Blizzard makes great games, yes they are more corporate in their ideals now but that comes with the territory. The game will be out "soon" and it will be fun. Have a nice day.

Oct 14, 2010rrock54 posted a message on Wizard Looks Good in New Item SetAs I said on diii.net, it looks like something Lady Gaga would wear. Seriously though, most of the problems with the gear looks seem to come from the head wear. So hopefully it looks much better in-game, and I assume that it will. Asides from the helmet I like the design and feel of the armor, but it still isn't doing anything to make me want to play him. The male Wizard looks like a pussy in my opinion.Posted in: News

Aug 26, 2010rrock54 posted a message on Get Ready for Blizzcon, DiabloFans! The fifth class and it's standard release video(s) is a given. We may see a few other official videos demonstrating in-game systems and features, such as PvP, trading, talisman, etcetera. Maybe a new snip-it of some cinematic footage? But I feel like I'm being hopeful there.Posted in: News
My main hope is that the feeling of openness about the games information that was conveyed in Gamescon is carried over to Blizzcon. An example of this is how Jay in the interviews talked far more confidently and openly about the game than in years past, and with the inevitable release of new information coming soon we can hope that the information we receive will be rich in detail. Along with the more open presentation perhaps talk about the beta and release dates won't be shot down as it always has been with previous Blizzcons and other events and some solid information might be garnered. By this I mean of course that the beta will be "soon" and the release will be in 2011. One can hope. -
Feb 19, 2010rrock54 posted a message on Music of Diablo IIIAnother thing you may notice about the music in the Diablo franchise is that it mirrors its representative culture. By this I mean that when you look at an area in Diablo 2 specifically the towns, the theme you hear is very fitting to how we see that culture they are portraying in reality. This creates a sense of realism and immersion. Then the dark and creepy atmospheric music you hear in the dungeons definitely sets a tone of an oppressing and foreboding area, this was done very well in Diablo 1. I assume the music we will hear in Diablo 3 will use the techniques used in all of Blizzards previous titles especially the dark heavy atmospheric music of Diablo 1 and the immersive themes of Diablo 2 to make a game that sounds absolutely amazing.Posted in: News

Feb 9, 2010rrock54 posted a message on Female Monk UpdateI too like the bigger shoulder armor and I like the overall design of the female monk. I really like Blizzards take on Diablo 3's character art for all of the classes, making it sort of realistic and stylized.Posted in: News

But I can't find it, so I think it was either deleted or I just didn't come across it. It may be documented somewhere but I swear I read him say that he wanted suggestion pertaining to content such as ideas for an act or quests, and not suggestions for bug fixes or UI changes.Posted in: News

My music is influenced by Tool, Aphex Twin, Mushuggah, Animals As Leaders, and Puscifer amongst others. On a closing note this piece leans towards psychedelic and ambient, I hope you enjoy.

Once a game reaches the testing phase generally the games production schedule becomes a bit more regimented, meaning now they have time frames that they are aiming to achieve. These time frames are established due to precedence, so what I'm trying to say is that Blizzard is saying Q3 2011 because they genuinely believe it will be out then. I would say as early as July 18th but my gut says August 8th.

This makes sense seeing as how currently there are no passive synergies between skills resulting in no need to have points in any skills you will not be using (and you can couple this with the lack of skill pre-req's).
