    Quote from Strill

You guys do realize that if Blizzard were going for historical accuracy, they would have INCLUDED guns right? Guns were around for most of the middle-ages, it's just they were so inaccurate, hard to reload, and weren't strong enough to pierce plate armor that they were just plain impractical.
Uhh, you mean cannons? Rifles that could be carried by one person and fired by one person weren't created until the early 16th century. Hand held guns are what signal the end of the Medieval Ages and the beginning of the science and technology age, AKA the Modern Age.

I'm truly happy that there aren't guns in DIII. I mean what good is armor if you're going against something that punctures right through it? I come at you with an axe, and you shoot a pistol at 15ft. At least a crossbow can't get through a shield...well...unless it is imbued with magic.

Its funny how everyone saying that they're okay with guns in DIII are the newer members. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. :d3d:

I have my fingers crossed, but I probably shouldn't. My heart is saying "They'll pick you! You have a very oddball video card that they'll need to test". My brain is saying "You idiot, they'll never pick you! You don't have a WoW account, so you don't deserve it." :P

I think its just more comforting to us old geezers that Blizz say they are xbows as opposed to actual guns. They may sound like guns, they may have the effect like guns, but they are still without gunpowder or shot. I can accept rockets due to those being produced far earlier in Asia than any guns. But that's as far as it should go in Diablo 3.

Its good to be back! Thanks Laura. Thanks Stormy.

@Siay - I understand why you'd expect that, but I'm here to stay. Well, mostly. I can't guarantee I'll be on here much once D3 is released. :D

    Edit: Woah. New smilies.

HAHA!!! It was a text error! There are no guns in Diablo 3 according to Bashiok. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice this.

@Jackzor - Yeah, I was only so surprised because I hadn't seen or heard anything about guns at all. I didn't notice the mention of 'Fire Bullets', but that has eased my mind a bit. Honestly though, the Demon Hunter will be the last class that I try so even if she does have access to guns, I'll probably be able to just ignore it.

    On the Demon Hunter:

    Ranged Weapons
Demon hunters are able to pepper the battlefield with scores of arrows and projectiles, or snipe distant enemies with a precision undreamt of by other heroes. Their arsenal includes longbows, GUNS, grenades, hand-thrown weapons, and even dual-wielded crossbows.

    Ummm... WTF?!?!

I think I'd like to see a combination of Playthroughs and Commentary. I did really like the idea of using a Green Voodoo orb for the Witchdoctor. I hope Blizz listens to this.

Recaps are on a weekly basis now on the DiabloCasts! Other than that, the News section is up and rocking even better than before ;)
Weekly recaps?!?! Sweet! I've started listening to a couple. And yes, the News section is lightyears ahead of where it was before. Its nice to actually have news to report on I assume. ;)

    Thanks everyone!

Its good to be back here. But I sure do have a lot of catching up to do. Those monthly "What's going on" news reports look like they aren't happening anymore. Are our updates given only through the Diablocast now?

posted a message on Computer Thread
Well, we now have the Beta system requirements up on the home page. I had already installed the Beta launcher, and the home page boots up super quick. Obviously, that isn't a very good judge of game requirements, but it seems quite a bit more optimized than most games out there. Witcher 2 takes forever to boot sometimes. Even Starcraft II can take a bit to load at times. Anyways, I'm super psyched, and figured I'd update my plans since my old thread got redirected to here.

    My system specs are:

    Nvidia 9600GSO 512MB
    4GB Corsair RAM 1333
    Rosewill 550w PSU
    MSI 770-G45 motherboard

CPU Type: AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 550 Processor
CPU Speed: 3.12 GHz (I crank it up to 3.6 in the winter)
    System Memory: 3.25 GB
Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO
Video Card Memory: 1.86 GB (fairly certain this is reading wrong for a card that came with only 512mb)
    Desktop Resolution: 1440x900
    Hard Disk Size: 931.41 GB
Hard Disk Free Space: 327.94 GB (35%)
    Download Speed: 825.47 kB/s (6.8 mbps)

    Parts I'm upgrading before December:

    Corsair TX750w PSU
MSI Radeon 6850 1GB 256bit DDR5 (I like how cheap the video cards have become)
Mushkin Silverline 4GBx2 (RAM is SUPER cheap now!!)
And with a little luck and hard work, a new monitor in the 23-25" range.

Should be running with flying colors by then. :D

@Zimeroski - Average Joe's can't play yet, its only friends and family of Blizzard in the Beta right now. Your specs are currently above the min specs and below the recommended specs for the Beta. You should be fine as long as Blizz supports the drivers you are using.

    I'm finally, officially back!

Its been a while since I've been posting regularly on here, and I figured I'd go ahead and do another intro. Seeing Naj's reintroduction kind of inspired me to do the same.

My busy schedule in RL has eased off a bit now, and I figured, that since FnF Beta started and the open Beta will be starting in a week or 2 (and Release soon after), I should get active again.

I'm super excited for the release, and really looking forward to seeing everyone on the forums again!

I like the layout of the new one, but I'm hoping that they add a background to it. Also, I'd like to see the edges surrounding the section titles a little more polished. But that's just nitpicking.

posted a message on Agent of Hell.....Deckard Cain?!?!
    Quote from Shatterer

There should be a Too Long; Didn't Read version of that. This thread would have more responses, methinks :)

But your vision of the unseen events is pretty cool. They're all plausible, and the fact that Cain lived while everybody was already dead in Tristram has plagued many a fan. Why would Diablo, who masterminded pretty much everything in D1 and 2, leave such a dangerous Horadrim live?

Maybe he was needed to guide the heroes of D2. Perhaps Cain thought he did was right, but actually did everything according to Hell's plans.

The things Cain did were certainly helping Hell, but I don't know if Cain did it knowingly or not. We (the heroes) certainly didn't ;)

Don't forget, that it is now confirmed that Adria the Witch is coming back in DIII. So not everyone in Tristram died.

As to why he wasn't killed; Maybe Cain was too strong to be killed by a bunch of pathetically weak Fallen and Goatmen. So instead, they just threw him in a cage. Maybe they were holding him there for a more powerful demon to take care of. But yeah, there are a lot of holes in the story that need to be explained. I sure hope Blizz doesn't just cop out and say, "Ignore the first 2 games, this is what actually happened".
