I just want to say that this little taste of New Tristram was very nice. I can't be the only one with whom it resonated more truly than anything else we've seen so far.

And I didn't realize it was New Tristram until after the second viewing, so it can't just be the nostalgia invoked by the name.

You should find a way to upload the sound files. The voice that reads the tombs makes them even better.
I have this old, awful techno remix of the reading of the tomes from some time in the late 1990s. I keep it around because it's sadly my only audio copy of the tale. Aside from my own reading that I did during my theater days. Heh.

The voice actor is Paul Eiding, by the way, also the voice of Aldaris, Pepin, Lazarus, Mephisto, and the Warrior. Prolific fellow.

There are people who expected better from a fantastically rich company working on a highly-anticipated game to be released in 2010-2011.

Personally, I find it sad that frickin' Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light looks 60x more like Diablo III than does Diablo III, which is instead using an evolution of the Blizzard Irvine art style that World of WarCraft popularized. Yay.

I also got the impression that it was very mutable, something that could change completely in a heartbeat. It felt like Bastion was (appropriately) the only stable, constant thing, and that Hell itself was as unstable and chaotic as a schizophrenic on crystal meth.

    Just my impression, though.

Somehow, I find the instrumentally very simple Tristram theme (the original) much more effective than a giant bombastic orchestra. But that's how I've always been, I think.

    Still fabulous pieces, of course.

What is rampid? I've seen it elsewhere. A misspelling of rampant?

I love her. Third best looking character, I say, after the male and female wizards.

The water-balloon breasts are pretty funny. I'm guessing she's not also 19.

    About 'finding' Sanctuary:

I've been involved with a lot of game settings that tell of the world being discovered by the Creator, who then populates it. I've always wondered: is there a mythological precedent for this, or is it an original trope of RPGs?

Looks like Uesugi Kenshin from the Taiga drama Fūrin Kazan.

All this time, I was thinking that the male wizard would not be from Xiansai, due to the concept art. I was wondering how they'd handle that. The answer was simpler than I expected: I was wrong.

On another note, I love the notions that being nineteen and/or being East Asian and/or being clean and/or allowing hair to grow on one's scalp is somehow indicative of sexual preference and/or sexual endowment. They make this thread 152% better. Really.

    Fuck you.

On another note, I love the pseudo-psychologists who think that being nineteen and/or being East Asian and/or being clean and/or allowing hair to grow on one's scalp is somehow indicative of sexual preference and/or sexual endowment. Paragons of socio-aesthetic insight, they are.

To add to what I said earlier: probably 90% of my own playlists are some genre of ambient, as it helps me focus without forcing any particular mood; yet I tend to think that in games, signature locations, characters and even important objects need melodic themes to really strike home when they should.

Yeah, I'm surprised anyone would prefer Diablo II's music over Diablo's. There was certainly more of it, but it mostly sounded like a mess of screeches and thumps to me. No melodies that stuck with me. In fact, the only melody I remember from Diablo II is the basically remixed Tristram theme. :\

The New Tristram theme currently on the site has the same problem for me. I love the latter half of the Caldeum theme, though. Some good melody developing there.
