posted a message on Is the game worth buying?

I'd say that if you've checked out Diablo Immoral then at least you've had a glimpse of what this is about. Many, including me, don't agree with it's MTX scheme however. Diablo Immoral is very much 'pay to win', but that's not a thing in the other implementations of this game series. Up to you of course, but Diablo Immoral is NOT representative of what the other games are like though.

All of the other versions are great. Very often you'll see both Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 on sale via battle.net, I'm pretty sure that I've seen 50%-70% off numerous times. Diablo 4, which is the newest installment, is great but I'd say you can't go wrong with Diablo 2 (Resurrected), you'll understand a whole lot more about what this game series is about if you give that one a go, plus you might also be able to pick it up at a more reasonable price. D2 is such a good game, many still even prefer to play the original version, but the 'remastered' Diablo 2: Resurrected is true to the original and might be a better experience for a new player.

posted a message on Who's still around? What's your story? Are you excited about D4?

Having fun with D4. I think that with regards to the future of Diablofans what's needed is something unique to pull people back in, something that no-one else does. Idk, a new kind of tool, a community event .. cookies? - It'd have to be something new and different, because people aren't going to just organically start hanging around here again, sadly. I'd settle for a date with Charsi.

posted a message on Bellular's final review on Diablo Immoral

Bellular has done a good series on Diablo Immoral on his news channel, and I highly recommend you see them all.

    Today's review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvLgQadgIo0

    My comment:

There's no excuse for being so insanely and over-the-top greedy about it. Yeah, we all understand that they need to make money somehow but the community is reacting to the way that they're doing it, and not the fact that they're monetizing their efforts. I'd happily throw in a few bucks now and then, only fair .. but this .. they could've chosen a more sensible approach but instead they chose to alienate a huge chunk of their fanbase, squeezing the players for as much money as possible in every possible way, not to mention actually ruining the gameplay experience along with it with all their constant reminders to spend real money and by paygating content. This is not a game, this is a slot machine. All praise to the talented artists that did the artwork and all that, but perhaps they should take their talent elsewhere because this monetization scheme is an insult to the artists and to everyone else.

The artists who did all that hard work were USED in a very sinister way, it is not the 'game designers' that are to blame, many good artists were involved, hoping that their labor would yield good fruit, this is all about executive decisions, the good artists involved were thoroughly USED by men in suits and this is a complete disgrace. A shameful thing, shame on you for this, Blizzard!

If any young programmer or game designer reads this; - Well, do NOT work for this company if there's any chance that they're liable to do you over in such a way, your life is your own, your heart is yours and you must utilize your efforts in a productive way.

If you haven't understood it yet; - They want your blood!

Let's just hope that Diablo IV will be an actual game. Meanwhile, there's always D2R or D3.

posted a message on MrLLamaSC 'PLAYING DIABLO IMMORTAL UNTIL IT ASKS ME TO PAY'

His expression says it all, do watch the whole thing if you like:

There's also this one, and some more on his channel:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APKU_vBuljE

Quote from his comments section on the last video:

You can say, "You don't have to pay" and you are totally allowed to enjoy the game. I'm not here to tell you never play, I'm just wanting to warn of the predatory nature and my understanding of it after playing maybe 8-10 hours of the game. It is like I would never tell people don't go to a casino but it's good to warn about how casinos use sneaky tactics to separate you from your money.

At the same time, the more that people support games like this and put money into them, the more it pushes the developers to continue creating these types of games. And if you prefer Diablo Immortal and these f2p P2W games over games like Diablo 2 and stuff...then that's totally fine! But for me, I want them to just stop with these types and games and go back to making real games where the focus is on the game just being good and not the monetization strategies.

They're quite simply out of touch with their fanbase here. Hopefully D4 will be an actual game.

posted a message on As someone who has only ever played Diablo 3, I can attest to the fact that it is a fantastic game.

Both have their upsides and downsides. I like D3 (I've played it a lot) but the endless Paragon system is simply ridiculously unnecessary and badly implemented. So, I play D2R (which I've played probably 7x more than D3 anyway) and Idk, I'm quite simply having a much better time with that. Each to their own I guess but why not both? I'll play D3 again for sure and when D4 is released I'll play that one a lot also - but I'll likely always go back to D2 anyway.

posted a message on As long as the spam isn't dealt with, PLEASE at least fix the lobby channels.

It's really not a pleasant experience to see a WALL OF TEXT SPAM every time you enter the lobby.

The spam bots completely drown any actual conversation in there at times.

If we could at least join a channel and stay there then this'd help tremendously.

But - here's the status quo for channels right now:

    - Yeah, you can join a channel. Type /channel join NewChannel.

    - But whenever you exit a game, you're sent back to the Lobby and then you manually have to select the channel you joined from the drop down menu again. Does anyone REALLY actually bother with doing this?

    - And whenever you restart the client, you have to manually type /channel join NewChannel again because it disappears from the drop down menu. It just seems like one is intentionally pushed to the lobby as much as possible.

Surely this could work a bit better? Blocking the spammers from the chat box doesn't even work, you have to manually find them in the character avatar list and report/ignore/block them if you want to actually ignore them. That's way too cumbersome and we shouldn't be expected to do that. - SURELY this isn't intentional and Blizzard is working to address this ...?

Also, I've suggested this before - but if this spam situation really can't be dealt with 20 years later (...), then perhaps you could allow the players to use custom filters to remove certain phrases and words so that we can do something about it ourselves. Literally anything would help, and at least fixing the lobby channels seems like a relatively quick and easy way to address this, at least for now.

Ultimately the lobby could in fact use a complete overhaul, see this topic and the replies there.

Channels could be a great thing for small communities/groups of friends but this isn't working.

If there was more activity here nowadays, discussing here would be better. But there ya go.
