It isn't a 40% damage buff. It is a 40% damage buff to EP, when played properly. EP is a majority of your damage, but not all of it. This means a 40% buff to a less than 100% of your damage makes the 40% less than 40% of your total damage. Factor in how annoying it can be, at times, to keep it going, and that number drops lower. Mythic Rhythm is for people truly trying to maximize their potential because they hit a brick wall. It takes density + near-perfect snap-shotting to be any benefit over Momentum or Determination.
I reccomend two paths, which have pro's and cons.
Path 1: Take mythic rhythm and master it. You will have slower progress as you master the passive but the upside is that you are setting yourself up for the finish line.
Path 2: Hold off on mythic rhythm until you hit a brick wall. Use determination or momentum until you can simply go no further. This could push you higher, faster, but ultimately will end up lacking that little extra DPS that Mythic Rhythm provides. If you take this route, you can gem higher solo; you really should be using groups to push gem ranks.
IMHO, Path 1 really is the option. Focus on knowing when to move. Know when that busted EP will drop off so you can spread the buffed EP. Keep moving and creating density.
I am currently working on GR64 and only JUST got my ancient weapons. I hope to break onto the leader boards very soon.
I'd like to chime in and say that I got stuck at 58 and am now working on 64. The difference was when I chose to fight rather than simply a gear check. Do not get baited into small packs. You must find or create the density. Density = more damage = faster clears. Do not finish off packs. Pop the EP, clear the majority of them, and move. I am still learning to do this.
My problem with frozen isn't the burst. I can usually survive that. It is the big hit after that comes from the large pack of mobs around me. When I see it, it never is an issue. I believe there needs to be a better way of determining that frozen is there. I'm sure you have seen the small clusters they can form under large mobs that are 99% hidden. Between empty GRifts and Frozen, I am having an issue getting over 27. I've gotten to 32 but I'm usually around 27-29.
One of my major hurdles is dealing with frozen with large body or large packs. How are you guys dealing with Frozen post GR27? I keep finding myself doing extremely well and way ahead only to run into a frozen scenario where they are under mobs and unseen. Nothing is more frustrating to have a full screen of particle polution/mob density and die to a mechanic hiding under it all.
I have tried Lightning, SWK+FD, and my clear speed all seems determined by running into jumpers or frozen affix. Also, I generally run double unity but do not have the "follower cant die" relic.
Basically just looking for tips to get past GR30. I prefer lightning and am ok with not being on top of the charts.
