One great MMO (World of Warcraft)
A couple great RTS's (StarCraft 2, Warcraft 4)
A couple great RPG's (Diablo III, ???????)
A couple great FPS's (StarCraft: Ghost, ???????)
I think Blizzard has enough talent and creativity to create a few new games, and I think they have potential to be very effective in producing a good FPS. They have good dedication to their games now, and they could probably hire a dedicated team to form new games with that pocket change they are making from WoW. -
Aug 15, 2006AcidReign posted a message on Settled...?I actually wouldn't mind a Diablo MMO, as long as they finish off the story, and perhaps release the prequel (both as RPGs). After that, I could care less, but I'd probably get WoD.Posted in: News

Aug 14, 2006AcidReign posted a message on Blizzards Diablo team hiring!Would it be a good strategy for Blizzard to release a console-only game and a PC-only game in the same year? Because I have a wierd theory...Posted in: News

Aug 8, 2006AcidReign posted a message on The Final Diablo 3 is Coming argumentI believe that Blizzard is VERY determined on producing a strong and lasting standard for each of their game, and that's why it takes them so damn long to create and release anything.Posted in: News
I believe StarCraft Ghost was postponed for 2 reasons:
1. The next-generation systems were going to be the new standard of gaming
2. The fans at BlizzCon had mixed feelings about it.
Blizzard would want ALL fans to like the game, not just 50-75%. And as the rumored reworking of Diablo III wouldn't surprise me. It almost perfectly fits right into the timeline of Blizzard, in terms of Blizzard North closing.
If Blizzard has indeed set Diablo III to be reworked, I admire their dedication to their fans' expectations. -

Jul 27, 2006AcidReign posted a message on The Final Diablo 3 is Coming argumentWell, I'm pretty sure it would be difficult to get a job there, so just do what everyone else does: Find someone in your family that has some weak association with Blizzard. For example, your mother's friend has a mail man that delivers to a postal office in a different town and another driver from that office delivers around Irvine California, and one day he talked to a pizza guy that once delivered a pizza to a road construction crew that helped a man change a flat tire - the guy with the flat was a Blizzard employee! I would like to see some kind of Guild roster, where you can click on a player in the Guild, and choose to look and their gear, skills, traits, PvP record. Everything.
And the "Player Preview" in the inventory screen of the first Diablo III gameplay video released would be cool to have in Battle.net. To look how a player looks, and not having to go into the game to see him.
I got my fingers crossed.

So do you really want to get into a battle with a boss that has 5 different stages, is hard to kill in the first place, health globes that drop only occasionally, and the chances for the loot you are looking for is a percent of a percent?
I suppose since drops will be seen on a per player basis, you could team-MF. However, cooperation in Hell mode will be key to victory, and you would have to have a stellar team to romp bosses over and over again, let alone get to them first. One little flaw in the team's composition and you could be looking at defeat after defeat.
I really hope that bosses aren't the best way to get the best items in the game. I really hope it stays balanced that artisans can eventually make epic gear, and that you have chances of finding the gear you're looking for, just by fighting ordinary mobs.

But Blizzard's goal is to have a more organized, better connected Battle.net so it is easier to play with your friends. I wouldn't count out Guilds in Diablo III. They may not be anything really special, other than a roster, Guild tag, and a chatroom in the Battle.net interface, but I think they will find a system like this to keep people together.
They'd rather have people staying on Battle.net rather than Alt+Tabbing out to a forum.

You're correct. They pretty much spent the entire time gloating over how awesome WoW is. Pffft.
Good video, nonetheless. Really quite interesting to see the history of the company.

This is very important, seeing that it is the only way you can recover health in the arenas.
I think that it will important to know the timing of when they spawn as well.

Yep. Bows are kinda underpowered. There is only one bow that really gets the job done right though. And I have found that bow to be the Faith runeword. What a beast.

If I don't get opted-in right away like I did with StarCraft II last year, I'll be a sad panda. I wasn't even that huge of a StarCraft fan, but I played the hell out of the beta. I can only imagine what the Diablo III beta would do to me.
It would probably be healthier if I was never chosen to play.

But again, it would really depend on the class I'm using... But I'd go for the same idea for every class.

And did I mention that Skill Runes make it even better?
