Jul 27, 2014Mandrikar posted a message on Free, Efficient, Quality T6 Uber Carry 24X7Pure uber carries are inefficient in RoS. Any player askingfor a carry and providing all the keys is doing a disservice to their hardwork of getting the keys. Let me illustrate (everything isusing averages --RNG is RNG)Posted in: Looking For Group [NA]
Drop Rates:
T1 drop rate = 25% keywarden and uber boss drops
T6 drop rate = 50% keywarden and uber boss drops
Number of Keywarden kills to get 1 key/portal open
T1 = 16 keywarden kills (16 * 25% = 4 component drops needed)
T6 = 8 keywarden kills (8 *50% = 4 component drops needed)
If a T1 wanted to get a Hellfire Amulet with 3 other T1 players that also had their own keys, he would (on average) needed 4 complete rounds of all portals being opened. that means he would have to provide 4 keys, which averages to about 64 keywarden killson T1. The other T1 members would put in an equal amount of portal openings.
If a T1 wanted to get T6 carried, and thus had to provide all of the keys, he would need to open up only 2 rounds --but provide all 8 keys. He would get the keys on T1, so would require (on average) 128 keywarden kills. In other words, he could have gotten 2 Hellfire Amulets if he did it as it was intended and did it with others of his level who also chipped in.
In sum, T6 carrying a T1 is half as efficient as doing if the T1 did it with other T1 players who all contributed their own keys equally.
If a service was to be provided, it would have to be of beneficial to both parties. Here is how it would:
The T1 player opens up 3 portals. The three T6 carriers open up the other 5 portals. Under this scenario, the T1 only requires 3 keys to get a HF on amulet (not 4, as if he were doing it with other T1 players) and the three T6 players would only require 1.67 keys each to get a HellFire amulet (not 2). With no fractions involved, 2 of the T6 would contribute the regular amount of keys (no gain or loss) while one of the T6 players only contributes 1 key to get the amulet (a gain).
Put another way:
Player 1 (T1 able) slight advantage...3 keys required rather than 4
Player 2 (T6 able) advantage...1 key needed rather than 2
Player 3 (T6 able) neither advantage or disadvantage...2 keys required
Player 4 (T6 able) neither advantage or disadvantage...2 keys required -

Belloc posted a message on Free, Efficient, Quality T6 Uber Carry 24X7How about this: I've farmed plenty of keys and killed plenty of uber bosses... but I've never killed them on Torment 6, nor am I geared enough to. If I saved up those keys and joined this guy's group, I'd be killing them on Torment 6, which I am not capable of doing on my own.Posted in: Looking For Group [NA]
He'd be helping me kill them on the highest difficulty and, in return, he gets another shot at Uber drops. That's called "mutual benefit." Just because you and your friends wouldn't benefit from this arrangement doesn't mean that there aren't thousands of other players who would benefit from it.
If you can kill stuff on Torment 6 then do so and let other people who have less gear/skill enjoy this guy's service. It's not leeching. Get a clue.
All that I'm getting out of your post is that you're an entitled whiner who can't consider things from other people's perspectives. You might want to fix that before you chime in, next time.
edit: P.S. I perfectly understood everything you tried to explain to me. I know how RiF works and I know that the most demanding aspect of Uber bosses is farming the keys. This is all very obvious and you must have a hugely over-inflated opinion of your own intelligence if you think I need it explained to me.
P.S.S. I also understand that the concept of team-work doesn't apply to solo-players. I tend to play solo, but I would happily join a group if it meant that I could be killing Torment 6 ubers instead of Torment 3-4. It's not leeching if we're both receiving benefit. But, go ahead, keep telling everyone how they're getting screwed over -- we're clearly not smart enough to decide that for ourselves. -

Excuse me? You do realize that he's offering people Torment 6 clears of Uber bosses, right? The vast majority of players can't even kill T4-T5 Uber bosses and these guys are doing T6. Even if they did require people to provide infernal machines, how exactly would that be "leeching"?Quote from erav2000
do you also open portals (ref. to "free" in thread title) or just leech on naive users ?
Do you not understand how services work? They provide you something, often in exchange for something else. In this case, players aren't paying anything more than they would have to pay to do it solo, so there is no loss to the people taking advantage of this service.
To suggest that they're "leeching" off "naive" players shows that you're the naive one. This service is 100% positive, so don't ask backhanded questions like that.
(and, no, I haven't taken advantage of their service. I'm not sitting here championing them because it benefits me. I'm doing so because that question was incredibly rude.) -

miketran posted a message on Free, Efficient, Quality T6 Uber Carry 24X7I have opened many portals for people we have served if they open multiple portals. '' Leech on naive users '' is a bit harsh, this is a benefit for both parties, last night i had a 500+ paragon tank barb that did not have any high dmg alts and needed quick and stress free service. Him and his friend shared two full runs ( 8 bosses ) of opening. The barb mentioned his luck was horrible and he needed the Leoric recipe piece to complete one future amulet. I felt for my new friend so i opened that specific portal for him. This is not a, complete the job and off you go business. Many people we served hang out in our community channel '' Unity League '' afterwards for pick up games and to make friends with other players. Good day, - apekPosted in: Looking For Group [NA] -

Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from wowaccounttom »And none of those is even close to the simplicity of the cow level along with its awesomeness.Stop trolling. Thanks.
@OP: There's a cow level in D3 as well, it's a very extremely rare Nephalem Rift (probably 1 in 1000 chance to get it). It's always the crypt layout, sometimes has the Jar of Souls event with cows, and is quite long (7-10 levels). You'll see nothing but cows in there (well, maybe an occasional goblin, of course); even the final boss is a cow (the Lord of Bells, you need that for an achievement so no real spoiler here). The level is what the cow level was supposed to be: a funny Easter Egg. It's not what the cow level was in some patches of D2: "the place to be". If the cow level was any more frequent, people would actually complain about it as its mob density is relatively low compared to other rifts. But since it's super rare, it serves its purpose: you're delighted when you get it and invite some friends (because everyone needs the cow boss kill at some point for the achievement). There was a bug for a few hours after 2.0.5 was released where the cow level was very common, and it showed how boring it would be if it wasn't that rare - just a few hours into the patch people already complained about its length and mob density...
The pony level (Whimseyshire) is more the equivalent of the D2 cow level in terms of its mechanic, as you can access it similar to the way you did in D2. However, it's not better than any other area in the game for loot/XP, so you'd only go there if you want to farm specific cow-level only loot (the Spectrum or Horadric Hamburger). Its layout is super bright and I guess it's a direct response from the development team to the absolutely ridiculous whining of people saying that "D3 is too bright and colorful compared to D2".
Oh, and Greed's Realm is a new rare level in 2.1, occasionally spawned after you kill a goblin, and it's super awesome (and will be the end of all your gold issues, if you have some). In terms of awesomeness it ranks approximately 500 levels over the boring D2 cow level. The cow level was supposed to be an Easter Egg, not something you farm like crazy. Therefore, those three Easter Eggs in D3 are perfect and exactly serve their purpose.
