It might seem like this patch is nothing much, but these changes are actually quite significant if you've been playing Diablo 2 over the years.
I'm surprised it actually took Blizzard this long to implement these.

Sep 11, 2011traderjoes posted a message on Much Ado About ColorsPosted in: NewsThis is just all a matter of opinions when it comes down to it...
Kinda silly to say something is bad or wrong just because it doesn't fit your taste and YOU want something that YOU feel looks better
And so the age-old "everyone has their own opinions" argument surfaces yet again. You realize that you could apply your same way of thinking to just about everything else in this world right? So stating what you did is redundancy at its finest.
The point is, of course everyone's going to have their own opinions, but it doesn't mean that certain opinions won't make more sense than others. Specifically, in our case, a large portion of the Diablo 3 community dislike the color combination that Blizzard decided to use and criticized it with logical concerns. People aren't just throwing out random colors and saying stuff like, "red is my favorite color, so I think the resource should be that color."
Also note that issues like these are popularly discussed because there obviously are a lot of people that disagree with the status quo of this specific design decision. People don't just nitpick at random things for the sake of quelling boredom. -

Seriously though, I'm not that bothered about hatred/discipline for the DH. But the blue mana for the WD just doesn't seem right. I'd much prefer something more entwined with voodoo, like some form of bubbling thick substance.
Btw, that looks badass ^ props. -
Sep 11, 2011traderjoes posted a message on Much Ado About ColorsPosted in: NewsHave to agree with the whole mojo thing, not only does it sound cool but if it had the purple/green it would really fit the character too.
I will be playing the DM pretty much solidly and the colours are not what I was expecting really. They just don't seem to contrast enough visually. Hard to really put my finger on it. Hatred should really be darker either something like a black or a blood red. Discipline should be more controlled, not saying that the blue is the wrong colour but maybe something like a sky blue.
lol, something like this?

I'm glad this issue was brought up, as I feel the same way that Sixen does about the Demon Hunter's resource color. I feel that the red/blue that the D3 artists chose is too generic and too close to the standard red/blue that signifies health and mana.
So instead of merely stating the colors that I think would be ideal like everyone else, I took the time and edited 68 individual frames of the Demon Hunter's resource globe in Photoshop to colors that I think would be more suitable. The two colors I chose aren't too far off from the ones that Blizzard chose, but I feel that they signify the Demon Hunter's character better.
My version:
Original:
Standard life/mana colors (just for comparison purposes):
Here is my reasoning behind the color choices:
1) For Hatred, I feel Blizzard chose the right color theme of red. But as I mentioned before, the red that they decided to use is just too "generic". I feel that the red has to have more relevance to the Demon Hunter, so I darkened up the default red to a sanguine red (the color of blood). Why? Because the Demon Hunter's hatred is directly linked to the lust he/she has for demon blood.
2) For Discipline, I also feel that Blizzard went with the right choice of a blue theme. But, I think the blue is too generic (the color of mana), like many other people have mentioned. I also saw that a lot of people mentioned green as a possible choice, but like Zarhym stated, green is too much reminiscent of green to be viable. So how did I resolve the issue? Turquoise! Halfway between green and blue. But furthermore, I think the color of turquoise has a deeper connection to peacefulness and serenity -- things that are implied by "discipline". Personally, when I think of turquoise, I think of the color of tropical water -- a very "zen" color.
3) Lastly, I feel the "burgundy-ish" red and the turquoise that I used contrast as well as the standard red/blue that Blizzard used.
Comments appreciated!
***Also, since I don't have a SC2 or WoW CD-key to post on the official forums, if anyone agrees with my color choices and wants to repost this on the official Diablo 3 forums, please do so! -

Jul 10, 2011traderjoes posted a message on ALTernate Styles of LootingMost definitely: togglePosted in: News
When playing D3, you're either going to be in fighting mode, or in item pick-up mode. Toggling matches that playstyle perfectly. Note: In D3, you won't be racing with your teammates to pick up loot, since the loot that drops is only seen by you, so there won't be a necessity to simultaneously scan for loot while killing enemies.
The classic style is okay, but requires you to hold down the hotkey too long in certain situations, plus the aforementioned unintended hotkey combinations (e.g. ALT + F4, ALT + TAB). The D3 default sounds like an okay style, but I prefer to not have items always show for 10 seconds when dropping (e.g. there might be areas where a lot of items drop at the same time, and your screen might be "spammed" in a sense). Also, a 10 second duration might be too long for some people. Reverse-classic style and no pick-up style are just retarded lol, so I won't get into those.
In conclusion, toggle gives the most control in any situation. -
Jul 4, 2011traderjoes posted a message on The Future of Item SellingPosted in: NewsQuote from ScyberDragon
In a loot based game, selling of any items makes no sense. Yes, there will be sites that try to profit off of the fact that people will buy there way to the top. There is no avoiding this, but Blizzard would be stupid to try to fix the problem by creating their own store. This does no fix the problem, it just gives them the money from the problem. However, a broken game is much more damaging to their profits than an item store would be.
Couldn't have said it better. -
Jul 4, 2011traderjoes posted a message on The Future of Item SellingPosted in: NewsQuote from Sabvre
Personally, I think the only people bitching about vanity stores are the ones that game too much to actually work and earn money.
There is absolutely NO reason to prevent vanity items from being sold by blizzard. None. Whatsothefuckever.
Vanity Items (for non english speakers) is being defined as different clothes, some pet that cannot do anything but follow you, some set of wings, or a lame looking guitar skin to disguise your weapon.
Purchasing said items have absolutely no effect on gameplay other than allowing customization... the same customization most diablofans scream as necessary.
So freaking what if your broke-ass cannot afford it. So what if you cannot give your female barbarian angel wings. Who cares... you get the benefit off some nerdy girl who decided to actually purchase it, and therefore prolong the life of Diablo 3.
As for other items sold in game store, I still see no problem with it. As long as you do not have to pay for actual patches or content. Dungeons and Dragons Online does a decent F2P system other than expecting you to pay for new zones, classes, races, etc (i'd rather this be in expansions than new content that has to be purchased every 3 months).
Way to flaunt your immaturity and ignorance of the issue at hand. This has nothing to do with people being poor or not. If Blizzard implements a store, then future Blizzard installments will follow the same route, and perhaps be completely pay2play. Once Blizzard dips its hands into greed, there's no turning back. That's fine if you have a deep craving to get milked by Blizzard; there's WoW for a reason. The rest of us want to keep the Diablo series as money-free as possible.
Also, there's no need to impose yourself on others. We all know that people who act big online and insult others are miserable themselves in real life. In fact, I bet that the majority of people on this forum who don't support stores are wealthier than you. So please stop generalizing and assuming that everyone who are against a Blizzard store are poor. You can take your condescending attitude elsewhere. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

They need to get their priorities straight. Just watch, D3's going to get postponed to Q4 2012.

If they put the money they're spending on R&D for a Diablo 3 console title, they would have finished Diablo 3 (PC) by now.
Stupid Blizzard and their idiotic ways.
