The wisest thing they can do is fix all the bugs, exploits and make sure season 2 is clean. As for season 1, write it off as "PTR Phase 2
Except that's completely unrealistic. A bug-free final product with a codebase of several million lines is just not possible. There will be bugs. Many of them will be obscure and go unnoticed during PTRs. This is how large pieces of code work.

What you're saying is that they should attempt to achieve something that is only doable in theory, not in practice.

They need pragmatic solutions, not theoretical solutions. Pragmatically, bugs will exist. Pragmatically, people will use those bugs to their advantage. It's just life. Trying to play it off as "code harder, get all the bugs" is so blissfully naive it's almost cute.
You are obviously have no insight into proper software development. There are many processes a company can put in place to find and fix bugs. It's what all the big software vendors to ensure they can deliver a 99.9% bug free product. Sure, one or two bugs will get through as there are so many environmental factors such as different PC builds, CPUs, GFX, sounds but most are caught within the first 2 iterations. Over 3 or 4, most are addressed.

If what you say is correct, every company that writes large applications will have lots of bugs. Is that the case ?

PS: Boeing 7XX aircraft control system has a few million lines of assembly code yet, no bugs. Google it if you think it's impossible

This was not an insult (I can't see how you read that into it) but an expression of surprise. If it came across the wrong way I apologize. Just saying that all those people who have done hundreds of rifts on GR45+ would be happy to get this bug even once as it increases your chances of clearing the rift dramatically. I'm also not saying "provide a screenshot" because I don't believe you, I'm saying you should provide a screenshot such that Blizzard can identify which Rift Guardian got stuck in which particular map tileset.

I've never heard of this bug and neither me nor any of my clan mates have ever experienced that. I also can't find it in the Blizzard bug report forums; there's only one instance that sounds somewhat similar: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/14059567002 - be sure to report it if you come across it again. Also see the how to write a bug report bluepost.
Apology accepted. However, I think you should read again what you wrote and understand that saying someone is exaggerating is rude. If you are 100% certain that something is absolutely impossible, state it politely. I will be more than happy to pop your ego one day with a video.

The rift guardian "Rime" has stupid AI, you can basically get him stuck doing nothing. Not sure if other RG's are also like that, i've only seen Rime behave that way.

I am glad I am not the only one who has seen this.

On Sunday, most of the Grifts I entered were all buggy in some way. On Monday and yesterday, did not come across any bugs. I can't explain why as I did not apply any patches at my end. Perhaps check which Act the Sunday grifts would have defaulted too ( assuming there is some kind of rotation ? )

First of all: not sure if you're aware of this, but this is not the official forum but a fan website (Diablo Fans). Make sure to report bugs in the proper place:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/5386229/

    Regarding your bugs:

    1) This is a known bug for the Cesspools, which are not part of the Greater Rift map pool anymore. On other maps I have not seen this bug yet ever, so if you do make sure you take a screenshot to be able to tell which map was causing this.

    2) Just as for 1), I have not seen this bug in over 200+ GRs. 3 out of 10 is definitely an exaggeration (or super lucky) because if this was to happen with a 30% chance many people would clear GR50+ ;-) Anyways, same thing again: if this happens make sure to take screenshots to know which particular map tileset and Rift Guardian cause this bug.

    3) This is not really a bug, but a technicality of mouse/keyboard interaction. If you keep your left mouse button pressed (when you're walking, for example) it's not re-casting CDR spells. Make sure to always keep clicking like a maniac instead of keeping the left mouse button pressed. Not sure if this is a bug or might simply be a limitation of how Windows handles mouse/keyboard input.
Thanks for your reply but my "have seen it about 3 times in 10 GRIFTS" was no exaggeration. It all took place yesterday and there were others present.

I don't think I will bother providing feedback anymore as it will just be followed up with insults.

As all customers including you and I paid real money for the right to play the game, there will need to be solid evidence proving a person intended to exploit/cheat before banning them. What if a person claims they had no idea they had used an "exploit" and happened to standing in town whilst their mates were G-rifting and/or that they need regular toilet / cigarette breaks or some other plausible reasons. It's not that simple.

What would the impact be if unfair bans were reported in games magazines or even news papers. What if a rich kid's parents decide to make a big deal out of it ? Banning opens up a can of worms which Blizzard won't want to deal with because it will be costly. There will be alot of people screaming for their money back if not for blood.

The wisest thing they can do is fix all the bugs, exploits and make sure season 2 is clean. As for season 1, write it off as "PTR Phase 2

I think the best solution to the lack of build options is to enhance the existing less desirable sets to balance things up or perhaps add extra items. Making firebird generic will make it even more desirable over the other sets like blackthorn, compass, vyr etc making the problem even worse. I would not want to imagine being able to change my element by simply re-rolling my affixes on my items and perhaps change a passive or two. Might aswell not have any elements at all as the only real difference in the game will be the visual effects.

posted a message on Greater Rift Bugs
    Hi

I came across some odd behavior which I suspect are bugs. Please take a look and feed back.

    1. After entering a greater rift in a team and fighting our way through the levels, rift floors 1, 2 & 3. Upon death, the "Revival at CheckPoint" always takes us back to the entrance of floor 1, not floor 3 as expected. This means there is a terrible long walk back to where the fight is if we die and pretty much destroys any chance of beating the timer. Please confirm if this is or isnt a bug ?

    2. Rift Guardian

The RG can often get stuck and in a certain position. Once it's stuck, its a sitting duck and easy to kill. I have seen it about 3 times in 10 GRIFTS.

    3. I play a wizard with a WoW/Firebird/Tal Rasha/toxic legendary gem and bane of trapped build. I have noticed that when I spam my missiles at monsters, the spamming can sometimes stop even though I have not released my mouse button or shift key. I am also sure that I have not been hit by a control spell to stun me etc. There is another post which I have also noticed symptoms of. Overall, attack or movement or movement with attack seems very "sticky" and inconsistent in 2.1. Prior to 2.1, it was very fluid and reliable so I am sure it's not a hardware issue at my end. I can provide you with my build if it helps.

This is the other thread which reports issues I am also seeing

posted a message on Can we have our session state saved
    Hi all

Last night I was grifting and lost everything after a disconnection. After completing level 22, I went to to lvl 23 then 24 and so on. Just before killing the rift guardian, I was disconnected losing the opportunity to upgrade my gem(s) and also my lvl 25 stone. This actually happened twice which to put it nicely, annoyed me.

Are there any plans to add any features to prevent against such losses ?. Greater rifts are by design incremental and time consuming. Losing what you had earned through no fault of your own is terribly unfortunate so there should at least be some mechanism to address it.

One idea would be to use a session variable to save the state. If the player had not upgraded any gems or upgraded his stone after entering a grift, ensure the stone he/she used to access the greater rift is returned to his inventory. Also mark the stone as "COMPENSATORY" which means when the stone is used, there will be no XP or rewards and killing rift guardian only presents a chance to upgrade gems. Upgrading the stone will not be offered.

This mechanism will ensure a player has the chance to upgrade his/her gems but also prevents players exploiting XP/rewards by deliberately disconnecting themselves. It also prevents players from trying to re-enter a Grift hoping for an easier map in the event they are struggling to reach the next level, say a 40 lvl player struggling to get to 41.

    Any thoughts ?

everyone who says its not a big deal are cusuals who dont play a lot, anyone who worked hard for theyre paagons and actually is competing gets the back end of the stick not the casuals. so please if your not even close to being on the leaderboard you have no right to say that its not a big deal. and they should be banned to send a message, them not banning them is saying that its okay to exploit in a competitive game, which it should be with the leaderboards. i understant it doesnt effect the casuals, but that doesnt mean it doesnt affect a lot of us. how would you feel if you stayed up 36 hours the firt day of release then slept 6 hours everyday since and played all the time and then have someone exploit and pull ahead of you on paragon and potentially in the leaderboards in the near future. not fun.

the exploiters knew what they were doing was wrong, they knew it was cheating, and it even made a lot of people quit and even made alot of people quit the game for good. if exploits like this keep happening and the exploiters keep getting away with this i cant see this game making another successful expansion let alone have seasons be sucessful. everyone will take it as a joke. which it kind of is right now, gaining 300 levels in 1 day. that sure sounds like competition to me.
If I'd stayed up 36 hours and then slept 6 hours a day, honestly, I would feel a deep sense of shame and probably start trying to find a job. Other than that, I agree with your point.
Hifiboi, see it as a blessing. if you had played 36 hours and found yourself near the top of the leaderboard, you'd more than likely force yourself to stay up for the remainder of the season just to maintain and improve your position ruining your health in the process. It ain't worth it !

Your anology is inaccurate. It should be "if the shop keeper removes all his stock from his shelves, piles them into a wheel barrow, then moves the wheel barrow two blocks down the road and leaves it there unattended with no notice or warning message about who's property it is. He then repeats this again and again. Are the homeless people who converge on the wheel barrows to take the food criminals ?. In the eyes of the law, they are not. Is the homeless person who takes 3 cans of beans any more criminal than the one who takes only 1 can ? That would be a question about greed and not criminality.

Entering an event such as jar of souls or any other exploit is not the same as walking into a shop. The event was put there for us to enter. If the player decompiled the code, hacked it, recomplied and gave himself access, then that is a different.

Don't get me wrong, I do not like exploitation either and I too think cheats should have their accounts stripped but in this case, this is another symptom of Blizzards poor software development cycle, specifically, the test phase. Anyone with any insight into SDLC will immediately see Blizzard's recent patch list has poor QA written all over it.

I too agree there are many immature people around but hey, it's D3, what do you expect ?. It's not a forum on the New Testament or Confuscianism...

    Quote from ConundrumNSA

The "it doesn't affect you" is the lamest copout ever. It also absolutely does affect everyone when nerf after nerf occurs because the cheaters and exploiters abused the hell out of things until they were removed. Yeah yeah, I know...people will claim that most of these things weren't exploits, but they were exploiting the games mechanics. Exploits aren't just abusing bugs like the recent one. It goes all the way back to removing surface Resplendant Chest spawns right up to nefing static spawns and bounties. Every one of those things things affected all players whether they exploited or not. There are dozens of other examples of things that were nice for "normal" players that were removed or nerfed due to people exploiting them non-stop. So "It doesn't affect you" is pure concentrated BS.

    Let me try...
It's simpler than that. Let me make it plain and simple, small words.
YOU don't get to tell me how I feel.
YOU don't get to decide IF it affects my game.
How PETTY is it for YOU to tell me IF it affects the game I bought, or how I feel about it?
If it's a player base issue, clearly there are many many people upset about this and they all bought their games too I bet.

I just don't understand the issue here. If some people choose to play XP rich areas to advance faster and they want to elevate themselves in the process posting videos and messages on the internet, that's up to them. Some people will respect them, most people will definitely not. So long as they are not causing monetary loss or hardship to anyone else ( inc Blizzard ), it's harmless. Only issue I can see is they have rendered the Season's leaderboard a joke so in that sense, they have compromised the intention of Seasons. However, this is due to Blizzard's poor testing processes and unresponsiveness to user feedback following the PTR. Blizzard's decision not to address certain issues before going-live imply they were not issues.

Lastly, the public are Blizzard's best QA and therefore, they will NOT want to punish anyone for helping to expose bugs. Reseting and banning would be really stupid.

    Hi all

I keep getting disconnected every 15 to 20 mins or so. It is extremely frustrating as I am only completing 20% of bounty runs, rifts and grifts that I start. Is this due to server DDOS attacks or some other reason ?

    Please sort it out

    Thanks
