posted a message on What Are You Studying?
I'm studying forensic science at Swinburne TAFE in Australia.
It's pretty interesting, but i don't think i'm going to pursue it ultimately.
I'm interested in the biology field but i'm going to take a year off next year and really think about it. Or not think about it, which would probably get me further when i realise what i'm spending all my time doing. (lol playing d3)

My post before was talking about Australian schools and societies, i can't really comment on American culture in the education area, but from the sounds of it it's pretty brutal.

Detention doesn't affect bullies.I fought back against my bullies but it never led anywhere. As a girl, I tended to be weaker, and I also didn't want to hurt anyone (lol!) and I sort of had a very bad clue regarding how to fight against these people, specifically...

Equinox brings up a very valid point here, it's not as easy as punching a kid in the face for girls, because they have physical differences from men, and the way society percieves them as how they "should" grow up. If a girl were to punch a girl, she would just be called a tom-boy and teased more, she cant punch all the girls, coz then she has an anger problem, then a mental problem gets labelled on her and she develops it through disbelief and everyone labelling her as having it.

As for detention, i believe it has an effect on the bullies, it's just conditioning, but the key is to really associate the bullying behaviour with the boredom of sitting in detention.

People should stop arguing about who is to blame, it's a mixture of all the things that have been mentioned in this thread. the teachers (bad ones) the way schools bullying systems work, and the individual kid(s) (bullies and bullied).

I know i was bullied, not as ferociously as this kid when i was that age, but i believe strong parenting from my father protected me from really 'feeling' the effects of the bullies. Suicide was not an option.

Some parents bring up strong kids, some bring up weak kids, this kid was unlucky to be bullied and he was weak, the end result for him death. Ultimately bullying will never be erradicated in all it's forms and this stuff will continue to happen, as i stated above strong character and will power through proper parenting is the key to minimizing these child suicides.

Cheers Linkx for posting this. <3

A much smaller version of the diablo 2 tetris style inventory. Eliminating a weight factor, but allowing more space then diablo 2 allowed without overcrowding the screen.

Diablo has left out Katana, and any slight variation thereof. Ninja-to, Yamato, Yamarra, Wakizashi and Sakabato or reverse blade sword, i.e the cutting edge is on the inwardly curving side of the katana, which makes it almost impossible to kill anything with, without reversing the sword.

The reason these weapons were left out is because they do not suit the world of Diablo. They are the sort of weapons used by swift characters. The whips on the other hand seem to suit the game more because of the dominating demons.

However that's not to say that those types of swords could not be implemented. It'd be pretty cool if they did implement them with a new character like that guy that was blind in the tekken series, lol, he was cool... at least I think it was the tekken series.

Also off the topic, "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth." does not make any sense. How can you give something in return for something you cannot gain without giving something in return first?

posted a message on 1 Item per Slot or Inventory Tetris
Honestly both systems can be considered flawed. Blizter has a few decent points (When his english is understandable) but his attack plan upon people who think that it will be too wowish and how it is unrealistic are not very reliable arguments.

Personally, I think that diablo 3 should combine the two, have the old tetris style slots, but make them smaller, and have plenty more of them. The limited resolution capability of the previous diablo games didn't allow this (kinda) and people have changed a lot since diablo 2 was released. People want to be able to alter there gui to suit themselves, and not be stuck with one generic GUI.

The one thing I am going to miss if they do implement the wow bag system is the look of the rare items. I loved it in diablo 1 and 2 how when you picked up a unidentified unique item, it looked the same as all the other normal ones you picked up, but when identified, it actually was unique in every sense of the word.

posted a message on help with graphics card choice... and introduction
Whatever you do, do not get a card lower then the 9 series. Although a lot of people are still buying the 8800 (stupidly in my opinions) those cards eat up much more power (which requires a better PSU) then the 9xxx series, and it's still expensive. If your not looking to spend heaps on it i'd go with a 9600GT, they work flawlessly and are only $140 if your in Aus.

There will be no Horde or Alliance, Heaven or Hell, it's Diablo, that just would not work. If it was a 'traditional' mmo, then maybe it would, but the locked isometric camera although it has many benefits only allows for the visual space of 9 players on screen at once.

I'll pay $100 bucks easily, diablo 2 was easily worth that much, and your getting unlimited battle.net multiplayer play for free, instead of paying a monthly fee like mmo's.

posted a message on Diablo III Gameplay Video Q&A part 2 - July 22
I'm thinking the outside environment will be similar to D2, but improved. Think about it, he said mostly static, to me that means the area map will stay the same, but for example, if you were in the stony field and looking for the entrance into tristram, that would be in a different spot. I think this method could easily work, especially for those who MF.

    posted a message on Respec'ing skills - D3
No, I don't think it's a good idea and I don't think it's one that they will implement into Diablo III. It lowers one of the main aspects of the game that people love, the replayability. Not being able to just respec your character makes for a game that is more tactical and requires more forward thinking. If you don't have enough time to make another character then don't play this game or actually think ahead as to what skills you choose. Although I do agree that if they do implement it (I don't really mind if they do) I think they should only allow one respec per character, and make it require a hefty fee, which would still keep the aspect that the 'diablo fanatics' love.
