Ooh, thanks for the link ov3rlord...

Guess PC Gamer's exclusive just stopped being so exclusive :P

Wonder how game radar got their hands on it heh

EDIT: Dw, figured it out, same company owns the two :P

Wonder why they were silly enough to leak it free online first, only to advertise the "Exclusve" preview so much in the mag heh... guess the digital age is making magazines obscolete

PCG partnered with gamesradar to put parts of featured articles on the site before the magazine comes out. There are still exclusive parts in the magazine though that pertain to the article. But yes they put the majority of the article online to drive traffic.

Didn't they give out beta keys a while ago that have still not been put to use? Like last year's blizzcon? I think those will be for the SC2 beta and these might be for D3.

December 31 2009 is a much more fitting release date.

    2011 is far too long.

I have a feeling they may be pulling our chains, maybe? Or something I'm not sure but 3 more years.... That seems way to far off. The graphics they're showing us now would be so out dated.

Okay I honestly don't know for sure if this is right, but on Gamesradar.com/pc PC Gamer (Who will have Diablo 3 on the cover of their October issue I think) posted a preview of the Q&A with a developer. One key question I saw was as follows

PCG: The cynics have already said they look forward to playing Diablo III when it ships in 2011. Do you feel any pressure to prove them wrong?

You saw it, 2011 boys and girls. Take it for whatever you see it as. The rest of the article is interesting as well, give it a read.

    http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/diablo-iii/preview/diablo-iii/a-20080801111854458065/g-2008063084756359080

EDIT: Also to sort of backup this "confirmed" date on the last issue of the PCG mag in the next month box they said "You knew it was coming, you just didn't know when, well, we know and we'll tell you, stick around."

It WASN'T that verbatum (sp?) but it was relatively close to something like that. So Diablo 3 in 2011 :(.

If i'm right the young lady has a name i can't quite remember it but if you listen to the gameplay video the barbarian tells cain to go back to (insert female name).

The lady's name would be Leah. Maybe the Daughter of Cain, not sure just yet.

I don't know if there has been threads on this yet (just got home), but are these people even remotely legit? They are SOOO bad when it comes to bashing the petition...half the stuff they say is just completely missing the point of the petition...maybe this is because they are not AVID diablo gamers, and simply don't care.

To answer your first question, Worlds Best-Selling PC Gaming magazine. Legit? I think so. And please point out some examples from the podcast that miss the point of the petition. Also, each one tells if they did or did not play D2 avidly, they do care, if you listen to later podcasts Kristen states, it is a well respected game being made by a very well respected game dev. You people need to stop being so defensive of this damn petition. We get it, you want your opinion voiced, it has been voiced, it has gotten the attention of Blizzard and the gaming community, I think it's safe to stop tooting the horn for a while.

Wow, you guys want to start an argument over anything, they were fairly neutral apart from some stupid comments mainly by Kristen. They didn't "pwn" anyone, they even agreed that they could see why the fans of the original games could possibly be unhappy with the change in direction and AGREED that it was influenced by WoW probably to attract a wider audience. I don't see the problem with the podcast and don't think they were being particularly arrogant or condescending.

Kristen did say some stupid things in there like, "Diablo 2 had a story?" and things like that. But overall I think it was pretty much neutral.

Well, to put it bluntly, they acted like **** and basically spat in the faces of everyone who addressed key points of concern through their signing of that petition. Secondly, why should we care about what Greg Vederman thinks? Biggest Diablo fan? I doubt it.

I think they pretty much apologized at the end of the Diablo 3 bit but w/e. And I think a former EIC of the Best selling PC gaming magazine on the planet may have a valid opinion people might want to listen to? And, fine then you show me the Biggest Diablo fan because it sure as hell isn't anyone on that petition.

    2. July 3rd, 2008 at 7:06 pm That petition is a freakin’ joke. Not dark and gorey enough? Did these people watch the game play video where the Siege Beast bites the player in half and leaves the entrails on his face? and that Tomb in the beginning was pretty damn dark. I’m sorry, I played Diablo 2 and 1 and these people are whining about a game they haven’t even seen 1% of. Blizzard is going to deliver regardless of this petition.
    What an asshole.
Why does everyone keep trying to discredit someone's opinions?
If they don't like it then they should just leave it at that.

    No need to flame. lol

I like the petition, not because I'm in favor of it.. but because it lets people think they have a say in what's going on.
Whether they do or not.. that's up for debate, but it gives them hope.

    >.<

Blizzard will provide what they think is right.
That's their job as a game company.. they need to know what works in a game that THEY are making.

    It will rock.
    Period. ^_^

HEY THERE, NAME LOOK FAMILIAR? Seems like someones being a hypocrite? Why not leave my opinion to myself as well then? hm? I mean sure the people are entitled to there opinion with the petition, so therefore I'm entitled to my opinion that the petition is ridiculous. edit: @eldius: Why are they arrogant? Because they counter your opinion with valid points? The former EIC Greg Vederman, The biggest diablo fan ever, thinks its a stupid petition.

clearly its going to be game room based since they said they were debated on 4-5 players per game

Thats not what they were thinking, If we're both thinking of the same quote they said they had a lot of fun with 4 people in a group and with 8 it seems a lot is going on but its still playable.

What about a timer? Say you have 45 seconds to a minute or whatever, to pick up your loot and if you don't want it everyone else can see it? (after time runs out) sounds reasonable to me!

His 26, i think he did play Diablo

Just because he was alive at the time doesn't mean he played it. and on another subject why would you expect customization? we have yet to get it in previous things so why now? and gunz is the least customizable game ever theres like 6 different looking combos you can get and thats about it.

Seems there will not be any options to choose the face, skin, hair and stuff... its sad cause even Hellgate London (Great Grafx boring Game saddly) Made by the true Diablo Team even had a complex char editor, so we will be seeing tons of clones all over BattleNet... I played D1 untill 2002 and was never a hardcore D2 fan because of the classes and the ambient with having to run into so much open non-town areas, being the Necromancer the only so-so playable class in D2, thats the reason i didnt like D2 that much, but i did play it over to the end and the D2 LoD Exp.

Ohh well... i waited so much for D3 and something just tells me i wont be buying this game, when i think of DIABLO the first thing that comes to my mind is Diablo1 (D2 dosent even flashes to me when someone speaks of Diablo) and the thrill to keep going deeper into hell with its dark Medieval/Gothic ambient, i dont even have the dessire to play it D3, guess ill wait for D4... how bad can it be to wait another 8 years if it ever comes to a sequel?

I come from the Vampire the Masquerade Redemption/Bloodlines olmost dead community, and my experience with Leonard Boyarski Co-Founder of the deceased "Troika Games" wasent that nice... something tells me he is the Guilty of the Rainbowbright desing in D3 that so many people are mad with (im not that dissapointed with that, im pretty much with the whole game) in my personal and free opinion i think 5 classes to choose from is just not enough, maybe 7 classes would do for me, and having to remove the potions with "orbs" seems like a bad choice and a disgrace to the Diablo Legacy... also not having a char appearance customization seems like a lazy choice... since D2 was a 2D Game and you didnt get to see your char face was ok, adding that the armor pretty much did all the uniqueness of the game, but in a 3d game where you do get to see your char face and will be most likely playing with thousands of players just seems a little out fashioned to me when tons of other games do have it...

Anyway i dont plan to Troll or kill your experience with this game, and i wish to you all have lots of fun playing when ever D3 gets released and hope it is on your own expectations, D3 is just dosent looks and feels like Diablo to my own personal beliefs, and i dont feel dessire to buy or play it at all.

What it sounds to me is that you didn't like Diablo 2 and you didn't even play Diablo 1 and your not excited for Diablo 3 so it seems to me that you don't like any part of the franchises which brings up the question that begs to be asked. Why the hell are you here?

You do realize he said "there's no way of saying were 20% there" meaning he doesn't know how far they are because there aren't any landmarks by which to judge how far they have left to go.
