Ok, thanks for the reply. I will keep that in mind. Still learning about these WD's. I still find it amazing that a lot of what you know about one class pretty much doesnt translate over to another class, even one that shares the same primary stat.
Ok, so Im starting a pet build after putting a few hundred hours in Barbs. I have some gear thats halfway decent, but missing some key pieces like MoJ or the flayer. I do have a 3 set of Zuni's though, so I have the Fetish army bonus. So my big question is should I roll all my gear for physical or should I split it between physical and poison? Im using a level 25 gem of toxin while I level up my enforcer gem. I started out trying to gear up fire damage using a maximus and fire runes on all the pets, but dropped that when I got the Zunis mojo to get that army bonus going. My build is less than perfect, but I can currently roll on T5 without much issue (other than the occasional elite wiping me out with thunderstorm or mortar) Looking to build up high enough to outclass my WW barb who can finish Grift 27 solo at the moment.
I almost think that it should be more like Raekors... a 2/3/4 set with 4 being WW gets all runes. Maybe 3 is a damage reduction while using WW? 2 is something simple like +VIt or +Str?
I think I know why they can and PC cant.... bots. Virtually impossible to bot on a console, therefor you wont have people setting up websites to sell gear for real money. If there were a way to block botting 100% on a PC, then they could potentially reopen item trading on PC. But until that happens, we get stuck with 0 trading and 0 auction house while consoles get the pleasure of helping each other out. Almost makes me reconsider playing on PC and picking up an X1 version of the game instead.
Can console players even trade items? If so, why? Why can they, but PC players cant? I wish I could trade items... I have a stash tab full of Raekors. MoE, and IK that arent being used. 3 extra Raekors helms, pants, shoulders, you name it, I probably have a few of them, but we cant trade anything on PCs. Sorry, rant over.
I run one of those newer WW builds. I like it because it can work with just about any gear you have, unlike Furious Charge or Leap Quake. Yes it is better with high end gear, but the gear doesnt make the build work, it just makes the build better. Leap Quake is very hard to use if you dont have MoE set along with Lut Socks. FC build doesnt work well if you dont have Raekors and a great 2 handed weapon.
I run 3 pcs of Raekors along with 3 pcs of IK with a RRoG, so I get perma-ancients. I run Odyn Son and Fulminator, but was running Devil Tongue before I found my first Odyn Son. This build wont be clearing super high grifts anytime soon like a good FC build, but it can be tons of fun. With 0 high end gear, you can go into T1, maybe T2. With better gear, that goes up to T3/T4. With great gear, I am clearing T6 with little difficulty and my solo grift record right now is gr27 (which isnt crazy high or anything, but for me I feel like I accomplished something) I could go much higher if I had a double unity ring.
If you want to try for lots of gear, there is a way to manipulate the grifts to only go one level at a time. First in the trials, as soon as it starts, run to the top of the map and sit there. The mobs will spawn in the middle and be too far away to attack. Wait for the timer to run out and you will start on GR1. Go into GR1 and take your time. You want less that 4 minutes remaining on the timer when you kill the boss. This will move you up only one level to 2. Rinse and repeat as needed to move up one level at a time. If you are clearing 21 and 22, this method could take you a couple of hours to get up there.
I appreciate the time you took to examine my barb. Just last night I switched from Odyn Son and Fulminator to Schaefers Hammer, but dont think I like it. Wreath of Lightning doesnt proc nearly as often with the 2 hander. I think I prefer the dual wield. I would switch out my gear as you recommended, but I dont have that gear. I have the hex pants, but still dont have IK chest or T&T yet., which is strange because I have 2 full sets of MoE and 3 full sets of Reakors but somehow IK belt and chest have eluded me. I will try swapping out my passives and runes as you suggest and see how it goes. Thanks again!
Starliath... Would you mind taking a look at my lightning WW barb? Im able to survive on T6 and my personal best grift is 26 with 45 seconds remaining. Any advice on how to make it any better?
I have a little extra gear in my stash, Sheafers hammer, pride of cassius, leorics crown, and a few other things if needed. I do not have SoH or TF though, hence why Im using Fulminator right now. I also have a better rolled Odyn Son, but am waiting on a gift to put a socket in it so I can keep the rolls.
Not to thread hijack, but speaking of elemental damage increases, this might be a stupid question... does +lightning damage boost up damage done by Wreath of Lightning gem? I've been running it on my lightning WW forever now (well since 2.1 came out), but never really figured out if it gets boosted by the damage increase of gear.
I cant look at your build here while at work, but I have a WW build that isnt 100% dependent on equipment. The equipment will dictate how high of a level you can run...
Frenzy - Smite
Whirlwind - Windshear
War Cry - Impunity
WotB - Insanity
Battle Rage - Marauders
CotA - Together as One
Adjust your passives as needed, but I run Weapon Master, Rampage, Unforgiving, Superstition, Bloodthirst. I used to use 100% defensive passives until I got good enough gear to survive, then perma-ancients with Together as One helped a lot.
I dual wield with this setup and started with Aughlids for most of my gear. I slowly farmed booldshards and got lucky grabbing IK gloves from Kadala. Next was the IK helm, then finally got a couple of pieces of Reakors. Im still WW with a focus on lightning and having perma-ancients. I can run through T5 pretty easy and my max grift is 23 right now. However I do NOT have optimal weapons... Devil Tongue and Fulmintator is best I have right now, with a Thunderfury and Odyn Son, my damage output would be much higher. I have a burst DPS of 1.4mil and EHP of 16.1mil according to Diablo3Ladder.com. But with this same setup, I was running T1 with much lower quality gear. You could swap out the CotA for Hammer of the Ancients until you get enough IK with a RoRG to get perma-ancients. I ran that for quite a while like that too. For legendary gems, Im running Wreath of Lightning and Mirinae, both are around level 18 right now.
Yes WW does not hit like vilecharge or even leapquake, but it much more fun to play on the lower levels. With enough Lightning procs, it can look like a lazer light show on the screen. Are you going to run GR30? Probably not. Will things melt on T4? Most certainly with a little better gear.
Had some really random RNG the other night... my brother and I were farming rares in T6 in that empty section in Act 5 that I cant remember the name of for the life of me right now... anyway, we were bashing barrels and opening white chests when he starts getting excited. I say, what the hell is your issue? He links me to a Unity ring that he got from a white chest. My response was "I hate you right now" Then 2 runs later, I see a set item drop from a random barrel in a corner of the map. It was a Natalyas ring with a decent roll on it. 4 more runs and another legendary drops for me this one is a Beckon Sail chest. Pretty good for 30 minutes of random runs with no magic find buffs on. All we really wanted was yellows so we could reroll some stuff, but we certainly arent complaining.
Im by no means an expert on this forum or anything, but I have a lightning WW Barb that has been a slow build up. I agree with everything that was said above me. If you are only 70ish Paragon, then most likely you arent running any higher than T1, maybe T2. Just focus on trying to get gear upgrades and build up some sets before hunting down that ring. I didnt get my first ring until I was paragon 190 and was running T3 without it. Is it a must have for high T levels and Grifts? Absolutely. Is it needed to have fun in the lower levels while farming gear? Not at all.
As far as rolling lightning damage on your items, there are only a few items that will really help you, but they dont say lightning damage, they say +% to lightning skills, like Scheafers Hammer or Odyn Son. Those are the good types to have for a lightning build. In the mean time, reroll those lightning damages to sockets and put in the biggest emerald you can afford to boost your CD. I have about 33% CC and nearly 400% CD. The 1:10 ratio is most effeicent, but thats not to say being out of whack one way or the other is a horrible thing either. The more you can get of either, the better.
Basically, for a good end game lightning build, there a few items that are nearly required... a +lightning skill bracer (like Gundo Gear) a +lightning skill ammy (there are a few choices out there, I just happened to find a blackthornes for mine right now) Stone of Jordan with a lightning roll, Thundergods belt, and if you can afford the lesser defense, Andariels Visage. For weapons, thunderfury, odyn son, Shard of Hate, fulminator are all great choices, or Scheafers hammer if you want a big 2 hander. Try for a socket in a ring or ammy and put in a wreath of lightning gem. Again this is all end game stuff and none of it is 100% required for the build to work. Just the more of those parts you have, the better it gets. Unlike Vile Charge or Leapquake, this type of build just builds on whatever you have laying around. The better the stuff, the better the build.
Ive had some luck, but not the right kind of luck... Looking for Lut Socks, Thunderfury, Odyn Son... keep ending up with Raekors boots, IK maces, even had a Marauders Gloves drop while playing with my Barb. I have recycled just about a full set of Raekors now (while keeping a full set in stash) But havent seen a single elite weapon... not one Furnace, Maximus, TF, OS, SoH... none of them. Oh and I found a Fate of the Fell for the Crusader I dont use.... ugh. I have good luck, but not in the way I need it.
Talking with my brother in law, I was mentioning some of the top weapons, like Maximus... he links be to the 3 he had in his stash, TF? Yup I have 3 of those too. SoH, OS, FotF, Taskers.... he has all sorts of super stuff, but he is missing key basic armor parts for the builds, like he doesnt have a single piece of Raekors while I tend to throw them away as I have too many of them to warrant keeping... and of course I never find them while playing together.
Basically the more lightning damage you get from pieces, the more deadly it becomes. It's by far not the most powerful build possible, but I think it's one of the more forgiving in terms of set items and legendaries. Im at the point now where I am waiting for specific things to replace, like a Thunderfury or Shard of Hate, but for the most part, this build is just stuff I have slowly collected over time. As I find more stuff, the ability to move up in torment levels goes up. For the longest time I couldnt go over T2 with it, then I found a few more parts, made a couple of adjustments, and T3 became easy, then T4, now Im on T5 with this build, which isnt exactly easy, but if I pay attention to elites, I can complete a regular rift solo without dying. If I could just find those best in slot weapons, I could probably run on T6 with this.
