posted a message on A little Heart to Heart about RoS...

The reason why these people on the blizz forums don't get much loot is because they spend all their time in the FORUMS and not playing the game.

I've been watching streams from T1-T6 and you actually start to get quite a lot of legendaries the higher you play with the current drop rates and add to that you also get them from gambling now.

I totally understand the gambling aspect of loot since if you have hard time finding some piece of equipment because of RNG you can boost your chances a little bit by gambing a specific item. I did this a lot also in D2 even though they nerfed unique gambing chances to the ground when LoD was released.

Those guys with 10+ hours without legendaries.. they idle in town while writing QQ in the forums..

Nothing is final yet but they are getting closer to the correct numbers. It is just fail from most of the community to QQ in the forums about too high or too low drop rates.. it is freaking simple it is BETA. First you find the boundaries and start going to the right direction from there. Blizzard has way more data than a random beta tester and as Travis pointed out if you combine what people have been giving feedback the data is the same as Blizz has which is like 1.5h - 2h / legendary or something.

So maybe there is a bug in that RNG protection system who knows thats not a reason to do such a huge QQ. Just give feedback, report it and carry on testing.

Why is trading and RMT a bad thing? If people are willing to go outside of the game to trade for money then that is their prerogative. Without being able to trade legendaries it is going to be a pain in the ass to gear yourself around a specific "game changing" legendary especially with the current droprates. It doesn't sound too great to me to get a great legendary and be forced between a fun but weak build because I need more items to build around that legendary or a build that is strong and I put that legendary in the stash until I finish the set when I could have traded for it. This is exacerbated by the still decently large range on items and the still random rolls on what stats appear on the item.
Because creating RMT as the *best* way to acquire items is bad for the entire game as a whole. I absolutely LOVE the way it's set up right now. I'm having a blast on PTR just farming for myself and my alts, and / or whoever I'm playing with.
RMT wouldn't be officially supported, it didn't drastically change D2. Most people don't even use RMT for items in D3 even with official support, most of it is gold (or gems, as gem prices determine the value of gold for real money). You can still farm for yourself and your alts with trading in the game.
Well imo it did. How many dupe hacks and exploits were created by these site owners because the value in it? Also all the botting really started in LoD when these item shops really started to run profit (pre-lod only some dupe rares and maybe sojs were sold in ebay mostly). Other side effects are also account theft, scamming, spamming that happens already now.. PVPgold.

If Blizzard actually banned people who used third party sites, this issue would not exist.
Except nobody can prove that someone used a third party site.

RMAH/AH was the best and quickest way to acquire items. Blizzard knows full well that by removing those, 3rd party sites will become the best thing which would be idiotic even if you restrict yourself from doing it because you realize it is idiotic. I don't care if people like to do it - too bad for them. No sympathy.

If you think getting items will be too hard - well too bad again - no sympathy for those who complain that something that should be hard in the game actually turns out to be hard.
In 1.0.8 there are over 200 items that are legendary. In RoS there will be even more, and all of them can be dropped at any level. If you get 1 legendary every three hours, it will take thousands of hours to see them all. Beyond that, they only roll for your own class and you may get shitty rolls, so you are talking an exponentially larger amount of time to get the ideal legendaries for one class, let alone 6. If you are wanting to make a specific build involving a specific two or three pieces you may get them back to back or you may not see it for hundreds of legendaries down the road. Let us take an example: How many mempo's have you seen drop? How many have had crit chance? How many have had 6% crit chance? Now imagine every single legendary is even more rare than that (as instead of it being maybe one in 40 legendaries it is one in over 200, since any legendary can drop even a leorics) This is what it is going to be like without trading.
Is Legendary always a Smart Drop? If so then okey. But still many of the Legendaries that drop fits your class quite well anyways since the stats are correct. It might not be a perfect piece for your character right now but if it is an upgrade wouldn't you be happy about it? I haven't found any Mempo's... not sure if I care about that specific item very much.. it is one of those OP items that shouldn't even exist in the game. I really hate when some item become defacto that pretty much every class and build must have.. same goes with many other items atm. Even if I could trade that Mempo.. i couldn't afford it EVER in D3 vanilla.. Okey maybe in RMAH but I'm not gonna spend 200+ for pixels.

posted a message on How to fix D3 PVP in 1 Easy Patch

My thoughts on PVP itemization is that you would benefit from the stuff you found in PVE. There should be a vendor that sells you PVP items according to some point system. This point system would be calculated on the stats of your gear, or in other words gear value (gearscore). This gear value would be the currency to buy those items.

So if you invested time to PVE and found nice gear for your character. Then you want to do PVP you could buy PVP gear from the vendor. Why we need PVP gear? To balance the stats to a reasonable level, probably need to replace stats like CHD to something else etc. We could also just have the stats automatically balanced for PVP but it might be confusing, when you enter arena your stats are way different..

Having 2 sets of gear would of course need a sort of switch so you could turn on the PVP gear.

Anyways this would still show the gear progression in PVP which for many must be an important part in Diablo games. This would also make people want to farm more loot to be better at PVP.

posted a message on So do people here actually like the game?

I been into the game again after quite long break. Maybe ½ year tbh. I regret that a little bit because I also lost all the friends from the game during that time.

So nowadays I pretty much do some solo thing or some public games. Trying to level all classes to 60 in SC and finish Inferno in HC before expansion. I've been playing mostly self found but every now and then I go to AH. My main SC barb got quite many IK set pieces because I wanted to do that achievement to get full set before Expansion arrives and you have to find all pieces since there is not trading or AH. My main SC barb is most equipped from AH, but all the rest is self found (mostly found items with other chars i've been playing).

With the main SC barb i'm also trying to farm hellfire ring.

So overall its been quite nice to be back to the game. All i'm missing actually is some friends and play company.

posted a message on When will you start your HC journey in RoS?

I got all but WD as lvl 60 also in softcore so I'm planning to level that WD to 60 before Expansion and then try out in softcore first since the level of difficulty I heard has gone up quite a bit. So i'll test out in softcore first.. maybe blast to 70 quickly and then jump back to HC.

Also I will test some different classes and see which one I want to play.

Cow level on D2 was shit.

It wasn't really part of the main game.. giant cows walking with 2 feet wtf?

It was fun doing it once per difficulty.

All in all it was too easy exp.. and everyone went there. I tried to do actual areas and keep away from there.

The problem became only in LOD expansion when group exp bonus was introduced and the game became much easier in general too. First there was those Bloody runs which after couple months became cow runs. Only after 1.10 when they significantly boosted their HP and brought down the exp people quit doing it.

...k people are still complaining about no offline mode? They don't want to loose money, deal with it move on

    /thread

Yes, online only is just an anti-piracy measure, they (and every other video game brand using this) should just stop pretending otherwise.

It is also an anti cheat measure.

Offline mode wouldn't be enough for people, they would also want LAN gaming. Lan gaming means you would have the serverside also on the game client. Now you only have Client side and the server side is securely at blizzard.

Also much of the information in the game comes from the servers. Like loots and monster spawnings etc. Harder to hack looting system when you only receive information from the server and not generate the item itself on the client side.

Sure, but only if they can provide the servers and connectiviy for it...EU servers were unplayable for WEEKS with lagspikes over 5000...they fixed it a couple of weeks ago but it still is laggy as hell

Thats BS.. it was unplayable the first day because you couldn't log in. After that it was 98% of the time fine for me.

posted a message on Transmog Removes Unique Item's Visual Uniqueness/Value
    Quote from Ltbogan

As much as it is nice to have uniqueness to an items look, if you look at the present game, almost every high tiered character of the same class uses the same gear or something similar.
Mempo, inna's pants, echoing fury etc. The Inna's set is one of the ugliest set in the game, the only reason anyone wears them is their stats. Ultimately every item looking like one another is ridiculous as this is what is currently happening.
For they are doing is allowing people to decide their own uniqueness in gear they have acquired rather than sticking to the same look all of the time, Its the same as the colour dies to how an item looks, and gives someone a choice in the aesthics of their character even if they are wearing ther same gear as someone else.

The problem is the item system. Same problem started when LOD came out. Before LOD people used 90% of rare items in D2. They could have different colour and shape. You could have Field Plate with blue color or Mage Plate with red color maybe even some unique armor sometimes.

You had many different armor, helmet, shield and weapon types that could all roll some good stats. Unique items were not that popular because most of them didnt have some vital stats like life and resistances. Or they had one but didnt have another.

Most of the characters looked different. Of course you had most sorcs running with Wand and shield but then some differentiation in armor and helmet.

Most barbs had Ornate plates but some had Chaos armors or such if it was with good stats.

In Diablo3 even if you use rares you will end up using only 2-3 different item looks. ilvl 61-63 most doesn't even use 61 anymore so possibly only 2 different type of items. Just because all the other looks cannot even roll any decent stats. In D2 you could have all the best stats in Quilted armor that drops already in act1 normal. Quilted armors didn't drop much in Hell difficulty though.

To make things worse, blizzard buffed Legendaries and Sets. And I already knew whats gonna happen. Same things as in D2: LOD, most of the people with the very same items because they are best in slot.

D2:Lod also buffed Uniques making them useful in end game, Everyone with Harlequin crest or Vampire Gaze helmets etc. After 1.10 patch that buffed runewords everyone is going with Enigma armors and Hoto's etc.

I'm not a fan of transmogrification.. not in WoW and probably not in D3 either. I like that when I check out some other player and see his/hers gear and it immidiately tells me that "oh hes got that one" , "wow wish I had that gear".. Now with transmog you have to inspect if you really wanna know what he/she is wearing.

posted a message on Loot is still breaking this game
If they make the good items more common they are not any more expensive in the AH soon. Soon it will be common gear and finding upgrades will be even more difficult. Soon you would need to roll the desired stats with close to perfect rolls on the stats. Now you need to roll most of the desired stats with quite high values to earn some money or get yourself an upgrade.

posted a message on Paragon Level EXP Chart
I think the idea is like in Diablo 2 lvl99 which wasn't really easy to reach... Actually after 95 or something leveling started to get a lot slower.. but still sometimes you got a level up when you played long enough.

Now with Paragon Levels it seems it takes a lot of time to get all 100 lvls so there is a long way of level ups.. Just play normally killing monsters and farming stuff.. but every now and then you get a small upgrade which is nice.

Been 60 for some weeks now with my barb. FIrst did some hell a3 farming but now I can clear some Weeping hollow and the crypts easily in Inferno A1.

I also leveled by doing all the quests and exploring most of the areas. Killed Hell diablo when I was around 56-57 and then leveled in the Act3 tower area.

Hardcore is so much more fun. I'm selling stuff in the AH a lot.. even just mediocore stuff sells. In softcore pretty much nothing seems to be selling atm (except top items)

I'm pretty happy with my 3 mins Belial kill on my monk.

I love this video, thanks! You've got pretty nice gear, too. I'm very jealous of your attack speed gear (fellow Monk player).

I'm a bit dismayed, however, that those of us who are "late" to the Inferno party are really going to miss out on the AH. Why? Because all those who got to Inferno early were able to make ridiculous amounts of gold by selling their drops (many of which are below lvl 60) to other players who are still leveling up, thus depleting the lowbies of gold and making themselves richer. At this point the early Inferno players now have a lot of spare gold to spend on good quality lvl 60 items which forces the prices UP (since there is both high demand and players with very deep pockets to spend from). When us lowbies (I'm still in Hell) finally get to Inferno we'll be unable to sell gear to make profit as the market is already saturated, and our relative lack of gold will make us unable to buy any of the better gear.

*sigh* what a terrible cycle to be caught in. It's pretty funny though, I'd love to look at the statistics, but I'm fairly certain that much of the gold in the game funneled from the "general" playerbase to the early Inferno players. We effectively have duplicated the 99%ers vs 1%ers in Diablo 3.

Every day inferno items are dropping in price because more people are getting to act 3/4. For you, to get a 1000-1200 DPS weapon as soon as you get to inferno will be much much easier than it was for me. I had to pay 1 mil, you'll have to pay 200k (if even that) which you will have purely from quest gold. More supply, the prices drop & the gear you can get can only be so good. I mean people already have close to BiS, with items occasionally dropping that gives them 1-2 more primary stats.

So basically, it's actually going to be far easier for you than it was for people getting inferno a week ago.

Got into act3 with my barb today.. getting one shotted all the time .D We had a nice group of people progressing and got belial down in 10 or so tries. So if you were lucky and rolled a DH or wizard as your first char its nice to farm some items from Act3/4 with melee.. you gotta stick to act1 which is pretty much a faceroll act2 I havent got any elites down solo so far so quite terrible balance imo.
