My guess is that tomorrow they end up not being eyes at all and we are left with a Hydra.

Forget the eyes, you can virtually put anyones face in there. While it does look most like Arthas there is no good reason why it would be. The eyes are there to throw you off. The ones that see the snake heads are spot on.

The key word all along: HYDRA

We also have the Lost numbers, and one of the stations of the Dharma Initiative is the HYDRA station.

Unfortunatly I never watched Lost, somone with the dvds should watch any episodes that pertain to the Hydra Station.

Well, at least we know for sure that Project Hydra is going to be announced, D3 or not it better be kickass. Also we know that eventually D3 will be released in some form. Hopefully tomorrow.

hmm.. the more I think about the code names "project Medusa" and "project Hydra" It scares me because it would seem Hydra could be an MMO of starcraft. I'm starting to think that is what Hydra is, and that it is not D3 related.

I still expect D3 to be announced soon, either saturday or maybe at Blizzcon, but I'm beginning to think that Hydra is SC related. If this is true that will probably mean that D3 will not be an MMO, but there will be a SC mmo. dunno, we should know saturday though.

weve seen that picture many times..and yes the rings around his eye look like the ones around the runes...

and the date adds up to 22.

    7 5 10

    22,

    22nd is when teasers started...

and code in the page has 040404 font, DDD, and 060606 666 font.

    and 6 line breaks.

and says get ready in comment on the bottom.

    only in the images page...
    dont know why..

    www.battle.net/images

    code has it.

the picture means nothing. There are pics in the same location of arthas, SC charachters, etc etc with the same date.. It is probably an old picture to promote an event, like blizcon or something.

    It is not significant.

in the back of my mind i really don't think blizzard north is gone for some reason i no the for one one already so don't till me

Like i said. I have heard that many of the ppl that left came back. which may be the significance of the name HYDRA. Hydra (the animals, freshwater cnidaria) can regenerate severd body parts.

So starcraft 2 was "project medusa" and there is a scientific connection between medusa and hydra . A Hydra is a class of the animal kindom in the phylum Cnidaria. Other animals of the class Hydrozoa develop into an adult form called Medusa.

Hydra are especially significant to biologists and zoologists because of their regenerative capabilites. You cut off a part of it and it will grow back.

I have heard rumors that the team that worked on D2 that left had many members that have recently returned.

just some random info really, and I am obviously reaching, as we all are. But that is the only realy significant connection I can see in Hydra and Medusa. Maybe someone at Blizzard is a former biologist? Or yea,, more likely its just random names from greek and roman mythology.
I'm just specualting and throwing stuff out there btw, just like all of us.

faces in the ice probably don't mean anything other than you naturally find things you can realate to in cryptic pictures.

I found this face.. thought it looked cool. And interestingly, If we do get a pentagram in the end.. the face will be in the very center of it.

I skimmed through the entire thread but never saw this.. so Im gonna post it. Forgive me if it has already been discussed.

I believe this was discussed on this forum before on more than one occasion.

There are 3 moons that surround Pluto; Charon, Nix, and Hydra. Hydra is the outermost moon

The biggest problem with this theroy though is that there are two outermost orbiting spheres in the new rune.

I dunno, but anything relating to "Hydra" is worth mentioning I think.

A little more Info on this:
So we have the planet of Pluto, with 3 moons Charon, Nix, and Hydra. Nix and Hydra are smaller moons both discoverd in 2005 by the hubble teliscope.

Charon: In Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman of the dead, a figure with close ties to the god Hades, which the Romans identified with their god Pluto. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charon_%28moon%29)

Pluto: Lets stick with Greek mythology and we see that Pluto is "the god of the underworld in ancient mythology; brother of Zeus and husband of Persephone"
    (wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn)

Nix: The name "Nix" comes from the Greek goddess of darkness and night; the mother of Charon who was the ferryman that carries souls across the river Styx to the underworld.
If you wish to search for info on Nix you need to use the older spelling of Nyx.

Hydra: First off it is the name of a project that Blizzard is working on, we all know this so I won't bother posting referrences. Hydra In ancient Greek mythology, was a multi-headed beast who guarded the waters of Pluto/Hades' underworld.

    So there are alot of questions to be asked;

Did blizzard intentionally pick the name of "Project Hydra" for the next Diablo game in referrence to Pluto, it's moons and the underworld referrences by each of their names?

What about the new rune with the colliding spheres? Do they in fact referrence Pluto and its moons?
-Probably not imo, but it is interesting to note that Pluto and Charon could have possibly came into thier current states due to a collision with another sphere
    (http://www.universetoday.com/2008/02/26/plutos-moons-nix-and-hydra-may-have-been-orphaned-from-solar-orbit/)

    Is it all coincedence?
    -most likely, yes

    Is it worth mentioning?
-yes, so take it for what it's worth. It referrences Hydra, and thats reason enough to look into it.

Excuse me, Pluto was named after the Roman god of the underworld, AKA the greek god Hades, hades is greek for hell.

    Gotcha!

I stand corrected! thanks for the info.

The only reason I posted my find Is because of the hydra referrence. But that does help the theroy a bit now dosn't it.

The Pluto theory: Yeah seems nice, but why the fuck would Blizzard refer to pluto?
What pluto has to do with that symbol and ice melting etc?

It would be nothing more than a referrence to Hydra. Pluto just would so happen to be the sphere it orbits. Blizz would not be referrencing Pluto, but how else would you be able to point to the moon called "Hydra" ?

It's not a solid theroy at all imo, but I think anything that points to Hydra should be mentioned and discussed.

    so simma down.

    Nailed it there man.

I'm still skeptical cuz the two outer spheres are on the same orbital..... so it dosn't match up.

I have heard another theroy of this being a symbol of "worlds colliding" I really hope they are not making a game that merges 2 or more IPs.... that would be bleh.
