imo the new character will focus on swords (like the Paladin) and bows (like the Zon) and have a bit of Druid thrown in for good measure.

Great to have more solid info.

The hype-meter is going through the roof at the moment.

One thing i'm concerned about is the quality of the player models - is it just me or do they look really poor?

I honestly think that there will be better action-RPG's out before 2011. Diablo 3 will be lagging behind by the time if comes out - the only thing that will save it is battle.net 2.

posted a message on Are you going to play singleplayer first? Or Battle.net?
The only time I played singleplayer Diablo 2 was when the internet was disconnected/down. I don't see the point. If you want to play by yourself, you can just make a 1 player battle.net game. You just get annoyed when you find something awesome in single player but it doesn't matter because you can't show it off to anyone.

Implying that people who joined 'late' are somehow less intelligent than people who have been here for longer is almost as bad as falling back to the 'you play too much' argument. ;)

btw I always used dii.net though I swear I had an account on this site as well - just completely forgot what the name of it was haha.

Yeah, fair enough points I suppose. Don't think it will have much effect on the economy to start with anyway because no one will really know the value of items.

I'm a little worried about how Blizz are trying to make the game even more 'newb friendly' but this is one thing I think they have got right. I understand why you're a bit perturbed by it - making melee sorcs etc was fun when everything else got boring in Diablo. I do think, however, that there will be ways to do similar things - just in much more interesting ways.

Can argue about it until your face goes blue but it isn't going to change. Still believe that it was one of the most tedious parts about Diablo 2.

Or actually think about what you are trying to accomplish and build something unique instead of copying someones ideas.

People today honestly can't think for themselves?

What I'm really trying to say is, why eliminate a factor in the game that allows more intelligent people to actually be better in the game?

Bah. I hated accidentally putting 10 points I didn't have to into strength or whatever and feeling like I had to start the character over again. Being an expert on Diablo 2 stat allocation doesn't make you smart, it makes you sad. :P

Why eliminate it? Because it's tedious, unnecessary and there are more interesting ways to give the player the ability to customise their character and 'be smart'.

I'm sorry, but you are an idiot if you think if anything is 100% for certain. Just because a particular famed franchise had commercial success in the past isn't an indication that it will repeat itself in the future. The times change, so do people.

PacMan and Tetris were some of the most popular and most played games back in the days, but it doesn't mean if you make a new PacMan or Tetris now they will still sell.

    Huh?

Even if Diablo 3 was below expectations everyone would still buy it over similar competition because it's Diablo 3.

It was crap that pretty much the only way to figure out a really good build was to go on a forum like this and ask someone/research it. Don't really care, personally, and I don't believe it will be a big deal.

They are trying to replace it with more interesting ways to customise your character. Stat point allocation was simply boring as batshit.

Honestly, how does other people doing this stuff affect you? It might change the market a bit but that is about it. Doesn't impact on my own personal enjoyment at all that some douchebag is paying money to get good items.
