Oct 13, 2008Bisso posted a message on Character Stat AssigningI am a bit confused about this. Not about Blizzard decision, but about the community's general opinion over the net, especialy on bnet forums.Posted in: News
The main opinion I keep seeing every 2 posts is : This stats auto-assignment is dumb because it destroys the customization. At the first thought, I agreed, but after remembering my Diablo 2 experience. I changed my mind and told me this : What customization!?
Try to remember your first Character you've made in Diablo 2. Back when you didn't know the game mechanics, what items was gonna help your hero to kick some asses, what spells were going to be useful at level 90 and which one would be totaly useless. I can bet that EVERYONE here had is first character badly built than after like 30 levels, realised that you should have done your character a certain way. After a few tries, you finaly realised that there was a perfect way to build a character.
Put a minimum of strength and dext since items bonuses would compensate, max out Vitality and leave Energy untouched. This brings us back to the question: What customization?! Is maxing Vitality really a customization?! I mean, after 5 months, EVERYONE realised it, and All characters will have the same Stats. So What's the big deal about it? Did you really think you were the only one who had this overpowered build? Everyone who played this game long enough realised how it really worked. In D3, if they put the same stats mechanic, It will take only few months for the entire planet to know 1 perfect build.
So, if 2 millions of people, including you and me, put the same number of points in each stats because we allllll know that this is the best build, is this still customization? I think it's not. So instead of puting customizable stats live for 5 months, just trhow this shit away and find another way to customize a character. Make every spells worth the be maxed out, make every item stats useful in some way. Make every class good in pvp and pve. Thats what Blizzard is trying to do. -
Sep 27, 2008Bisso posted a message on No Spellbooks in Diablo 3That's, in my opinion, a great news. I loved the concept of searching for new spells. But making a Barb able to throw a Nova is just not right.Posted in: News
And this goes with the Runewords too, The Enigma and Cie thing. I think it is just wrong, of course Blizzard was trying to put some PVP stuff in the game without having to reprogram the skills mechanics but I would love to see them NOT coming back in Diablo 3.
What I would like to see though is Secondary Skills or Talents, learnable by a book or a item that people could get trhough the game but that are not specific to a certain class.
Like i don't know : -Identification, -Pathfinding (run faster for a short time), -Repair, -Ammo Making
Cute stuff like that which ny class could benifit in some way. -
Sep 20, 2008Bisso posted a message on Diablo 3 Item Grace Period & Alt KeyEnglish isnt my first language so I am not really ure of what I just read. But I thought it was.Posted in: News
Thst you press Alt or not, Items that drops will have their names shown for 5 seconds then fade. After, if you still want to press Alt you can, but they have built a system that could give the chance for players to see items that drops without hold Alt all the time.
for ex: If you won't grab anything that is not Rare or Unique, then it's pretty useless to hold Alt down since every time an item drops, you see its name (in color). So until you see something in yellow or in gold, you don't have to pay much attention to the loots and the Alt keys.
If this is it, I think it is great, but I am wondering how it's gonna work if you just AOE the room with a sorc (ex) then all monsters die in same time, droping ALOT of items, then your screen is full of names. I remember avec some problem fighting monsters with Alt key down in D2. So much items on the floor you couldn't even select a monster... Just hope this wont be a problem -
Sep 13, 2008Bisso posted a message on Diablo 3 Won't Have Locked ChestsWhen they said they weren't just making D2 in 3D, they were actualy right. But I must say that Locked chest weren't that of a importance, in D2, you just run back 10 seconds and you find a key that dropped go back to the chest and realised you did this for cracked boots, a stamina potion and 3 golds. It didn't worth it that much.Posted in: News

Aug 6, 2008Bisso posted a message on Diablo III Development UpdatePosted in: NewsQuote from name="Elfen Lied" »Not sure about MMO team play style bosses, heard something about comparisons to Legend of Zelda though, also need to factor in Single Player. And a lone Barbarian Single Player at that.
What I love about MMO style boss is that is not just like an harder mob. Like in D2. Except for Duriel, all the end-act boss are a bit just like a damn Hero with immune to something, lightning enchanted, stone skin and extra strong, you know, those hero you like die 6 times before been able to kill it... I hope Blizzard will find a way to put end Bosses a bit more interesting. Phases are cool, Environment triggering could be great too. Cause Basicly, I thought that Diablo in D2 is a bit 2 easy to be the lord of Terror. (I might say to SIMPLE rather than to EASY). -
Aug 5, 2008Bisso posted a message on MTV - Necromancer May Return, Diablo 3 Expansion Confirmed?Good news indeed, I liked the Necro, wasn't my favorite class but the fact that you could just summon stuff and watch the show from way behind was a great game mechanic. Saying that I would like every class to be back in D3 wouldn't fit. I would prefer to discover a whole new and unique class than just playing the same old class with same skills. If the necro is back, I bet there will be no Bone Walls. Simply because it's much more fun for a game developper to create than imitate. And I think everyone, when they will open their D3 box will enjoy the new classes. 10 years without any change made with the class in Diablo just make the changes harder to take. But when everyone will be used to it, they will love how stuff changed, how new stuff came out and old stuff been replaced. My-2-cents.Posted in: News
BTW zombie wall is funny has hell. I will give it a shot for sure -

Frogs are lame, yes, but Diablo 2 Twister, Find potion, Teeth, Poison Dagger were all pretty lame imo. But when I didn't want to use a lame skill, I didn't use them.
Yes, toads are a bit weird. But it simply because I think some people here (and alot on Bnet forums) still believe the WitchDoctor is a renamed Necro. When I hear Witchdoctor, I think about african shamans that do potions with snakes, toads and bats. Just give the witchdoctor a chance to prove his worth.

First: Lan depends on the host, but if it's really LAN, then the connection has nothing to do with the speed, only the CPU is working more, but it's nearly nothing. If it's a fake lan like with Hamachi, then yes, internet connection of the host can be a problem.
Though, I am not sure but, I think it's kind of the same thing for Battle.net... Battle.net do not HOST games, they just manage them and annouce them on their list. Which means, if a player creates a game, he is by default the host, then if he leaves, battlenet holds it or give it to another player ingame. After a few mins, if bnet didn't find a new host, it drops the game. I am not 100% sure tho. But for Starcraft, this is exactly the case.

Your point is weak, game ratings are just valid during the sale/buy. If a parent buy a M (ESRB) or MA15+ game, the responsability are now with the parent. Which means that a 12 yrs old kid CAN play Diablo 3 legitimatly (he just cant buy it). And if he is 12 yrs old, I would probably think twice before sending my child on Bnet. Ya, definatly wouldn't let him/her.

I think YOU NAILED IT COMPLETLY!!
I don't play on Battle.net on StarCraft, Diablo II and WarCraft 3 BECAUSE ITS SO FREAKING LAGGYYYYYYY. They now want to FORCE us to go on their online servers while they perfectly know that the first version didn't worth a ?$%?%.
And I got a good connection, in fact, very good connection. But who here NEVER tried to join a game that is 20 hours OLD?! I know EVERYONE did because this is Bnet 1.0 crap! IT happens in SC, D2 and WC3. In SC its even worst, you are lucky if you can find 1 working game, and of course there is nearly no way to be able to host a game, even if you play with you're friend in the SAME house!
Of course everyone wants to play on lan, ME FIRST! I mean, I don't care about people langage or anything on Bnet, I do care about:
Join game, loading screen, the door won't open, 5 mins later, The game is unavailable, damn Bnet, did you rly took 5 mins to find this out?
Ya, LAN allllll the way. I support you for your kids.

If you played it lately, and enjoyed it, I respect you cause I can't hold long enough to even see the butcher. The game is sloowwwwwwww...........
5 mins later, oh cool i finaly got out of town. 5 mins later, oh cool i got in another room. etc...
The game was awesome when it came out, but seriously, the game got rly old after D2.

maybe keys, but no beta date. This won't go until next year's blizzcon. SC2 beta should be announced tho,
I am also looking for some preview of next acts and 1 other class at least. I would like to see some gameplay as well. I just can't get enough of the gameplay previews. More, moreeeee

I love the new names for the runes, make them more Diablo.
The item colors have been confirmed by Bashiok that Uniques won't be purple as the technical director said. Good news cause I also think that the Gold color is a classic. I understand that it was a problem for colorblindness. Myself, even if not color blind, I had myself some problem scanning between Rares and Uniques when I was on my old Monitor where I needed to boost the gamma. It was very annoying. So switch rare's color and keep unique gold, it's so epic!
Now what I think is not a good thing right now. I read alot about the skill trees and I saw alot of skills that were only upgrades. I compared Diablo 3 Trees with WoW Talent Trees. Some of the skills inside the tree are new unique skills, some are there to upgrade other skills. But I thought that few skills were given to the class at start or at a certain level nomatter which spec you are. But right now, I think I was wrong.
So here is my thought: Alright, we have runes to make spells customizable. But even there. If you take the Barbarian, right now there is 17 Active skills (where less than the half are attacks) in all 3 trees. This kind of tree setup invites the player to go the the bottom of one and stay at the top/middle of the 2 others. Which would mean like 9 active skills for each build. That is more than a D2 build, but D2 still had more possibility. The only problem in D2 was that they were'nt balanced to be all powerful. Runes will bring this in D3. But I already see website that show the best build for a Fury Barb. And some runes will be more useful in certain skills and everyone will head for the same build again...

That been said. I wouldn't care to see a WC4. But I think that right now is the best timing to be working on something entirely new. I would love to see a new universe but allso a new type of game. Ghost was an exemple of something new for Blizzard style and if it had been made by Blizzard, it would have rocked, but no company on Earth can do Blizz job... So yea, I would love to see something completly new. FPS in a new universe or something like that. Just to let Blizzard reshape a genre and make their new game a classic for the genre they chose

Diablo 3 PVP must be better than Diablo 2's. Cause face it guys, D2 pvp was NOT a good pvp system.

It's alright, but I don't think my idea should be a 3rd mode. This would just be wrong.
Anyway, HC was nearly Death proof at the beginning. Since people had their Esc - Quit Game button always ready.
If Blizz would block game quiting while in combat... 90% of people who just said : Death is Death in HC would just never play HC. I know what it is since I played hardcore alot and even tried in Ladders on the first roll. Died at level 89 barb, iron maiden...
Let's hope Blizz finds something to make HC more attractive...

But a PVP system will probably (99%) be implemented. I would like to see this like the Arena from WoW. (Even if I think WoW is the worst game to have PVP on it because of how inacurate the packets are transmitted to the clients). Still, having some fighting grounds where you can find some destructible traps and closed environment (to counter the late D2 Enigma teleport spamming) so no class and no spell/equipement build is more viable than others.
I think Blizzard will implement the same Tournament system they recently added on WoW which would be one of the Bnet2.0 options (with a fee) avalaible to players. I wouldn't pay for this but I know alot of people would like to compete for money in Diablo 3.
I would like to see some way to spectate these players that are very talented and highly ranked in this system to give some good players some sort of ways to show themselves. Which is now possible in SC, WC and WoW.
And finaly, I would love a Team system. To officialize the team battles. That would be a new strategic game in Diablo PVP. ie: Fury Barbarian & Arcane Wizard vs Fire Wizard and WitchDoc. People could start to find strengths and weeknesses for each class and each class combinasions.

Lolll, that would be a downgrade since people like to keep their character has proof of being level 99 and dead but still in the ladder.
And the idea is based only on the fact that people want to compete on Ladders. Going from 1 to 99 in Diablo II in normal mode (without power leveling or any help) used to take me maximum 2 weeks depending on how lucky i got with item drops and stuff. On hardcore. I would take more time (as it is on Diablo II LOD Ladders right now). People are playing a different way when dieing means something. And trust me, if I would want to be in top100 Hardcore mode level race, I would consider a 1 week penality just like losing him for good. Since a week is like 90 level when starting from the beginning.
So it would be the same for a competitive aspect. You STILL lose your character's "worth". But also, if you are 90 and you die. But you don't want to create the same character right now.. Well in 1 week, you will be able to play him again, even if he has no chance of being in the ladders. Competitive players like me will consider this character "lost" but also and for others, this could affect players decisions to play Hardcore mode where in Diablo II, they would never had.
That doesn't stop you from deleting your character when you die to make it just like Diablo II though ;).

I am sorry if I repost a earlier suggestion but here it is:
- Dieing in Hardcore Mode might only "disable" your character for a few days. (a week)
Let me explain myself before bashing me
I loved the Hardcore mode in Diablo II and I was happy to hear that it should come back in Diablo III. I think this mode deserve a better popularity because I know that alot of people do not try this because they don't want to start over after a lag. It happened at least once for everyone. But just the fact of thinking that death is really the end brings the player to an whole new level of in the game.
I also thought about the leveling ladders races there was post 1.10, I think. This was very cool.
So I thought about merging these to make everyone "happy". In some Leveling races like in D2 where you needed to be leveling your character everyday for a week to make sure you could have a chance to be in the top 99 just rang me a bell. Why not, if the character dies, locking this character for a week (death penality). This would be enough to get this character out of the ladders. But at least, they could be able to play with their character again in few days if they enjoyed leveling him.
Not sure what you guys think.
EDIT: of course this would probably work only on BNET.
