Again, the grpahics are scaled down to lower Pc reqs. They could add a slider for graphics but then they are still having to develop these graphics. Yes, they are different departments but two things. One, the money spent on the graphics team can be spent elsewhere to optimize gameplay over graphics. Two, Because it is a seperate team, that means that department takes all of that work and increases development time for the game.

If graphics are your biggest concern for a game, then play games that focus on graphics. blizzard and Diablo are not for you then. They will not be increasing their graphics to match current games.

    LMAO.

I never said graphics are my biggest concern.

I am a diablo fan, just like you. and have played every single blizzard game ever, just like you probably have. You are no better than I nor are you more worthy to play d3 than i am.

Save costs? Put money towards other things? Increase development time?? Dude, this has been in development for SEVEN YEARS. I dont think they really give a crap how long or how expensive this game is going to take, because they want to do it right. However, not taking advantage of advances in technology IMO is a mistake.

Keep defending blizzard all you would like. its pretty funny.

fanboy nothing. First off, the lowered graphics add for more "stuff" on the screen yet requires lower PC req. Also, they can spend far less development time perfecting graphics and can spend that time creating more quests, skills, monsters, and items to the game. That to me is more fun than saying my character looks realistic.

None of Blizzard's games have ever had top of the line graphics. WoW, with its stylized approach, certainly does not. Diablo 2 and SC used 2-D sprites when games were using 3-D models.

As far as the development goes, we are not debating the timeline for SC but Diablo and as I mentioned.
Lastly, with the fanboyism, I speak only from fact and base my opinion on that. I also do not try to knock a game that is not even out yet and we know so little about it. I am not afraid, just not prejudice.

EDIT: @ whirlwind - The only SC issue that involves Diablo is the game drops and rejoining. If you would like to discuss SC2, that's fine but you are using it to discuss concerns with Diablo 3. I also see you failed to include any rebuttal to the development part of my post. Is this because it makes sense to you now.

Graphics sliders can address PC reqs. Maybe blizz just doesnt want to hurt people's feelings that they cant play on ultra high? I dont see a reason why blizzard wouldnt at least make it look like a 2011(maybe) game. Other games OUT NOW, have lots of stuff on screen too and look great. A game thats still in development to be released in a few years isnt going to look better? Damn, what a shame. Lost opportunity for lots of 'whoa' moments and added immersiveness.

More development time for other things? You do know that everyone doesnt work on the same aspects of the game as everyone else right?

"more monsters, more random quests, more items"... yeah because thats going to take a ton of time. Quests? Go kill this dude, go get this item. More items? Lets make a sword with these random names/stats. Well done!!!! This is so tough! Give me a break.

Your defenses of blizzard are baseless.

When d3 looks like this but could have looked so much better, its people like you who are to blame.

Blizzard has always purposely lowered their graphics to add better gameplay and a wider audience.

LMFAO. Purposely lowered their graphics to add better gameplay? Nice completely unsubstantiated claim there. Care to give examples of how limiting graphics added to better gameplay?

Besides, always lowered their graphics? D1 had great graphics for its time. d2 was par with other games of the same genre and its graphics were modern enough. Sc1 had up to date graphics, so did all the warcraft games.... so did WoW....

    Quote from "ScyberDragon" »
I personally do not care how it "looks" as long as it is fun to play.

Obviously. But improved "looks" can improve game experience.

Also, while it has been in production for about seven years, they were not seven full years of production and the game was pretty much restarted from scratch about four years ago.

Hah, so its only taken 4 years?

im in sc2 beta as well, while its fun, i see no reason why its taken this long to make it. There is nothing revolutionary about it as we all agree, so why did it take so long? Why do they have to release it in 3 installments? lol.

Stop with the fanboyism. Its ok to be critical of blizzard. you need not be afraid.

The town of tristram in diablo 1 was what made the game more than just another hack and slash.

d1 was memorable because of the characters/story/atmosphere...
d2 was fun because of the gameplay aspects...

both great games for different reasons... i hope d3 can combine them both. Too many games nowadays lack what d1 had in spades.

Hello my name is Joe, and I'm from the future...

I am here to speak out about D3. It just came out here in 2054, and it's freakin' awesome...

I came back to tell everybody to be patient, the game is well worth the wait...

I hope I can change the people before it's too late... You see... the world will collapse and fall into a WWIII. People that can't wait for the game will wage war due to there impatience.

In 2054, the game is now out but we have lost alot of diablo fans...
The game is now missing alot of players!

It shall be my mission to stop this war from happening

If I can move the camera, move my character with WASD, press 20 different hotkeys in WoW, then I can use WASD to move and my mouse to aim and attack in Diablo.

    LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Because WoW is super duper hard to play. Ez mode.

So, I'm a retard because I find the point and click to easy? I have a few choice words for you, but I don't feel like getting banned. Today.

so you want to make the game harder? so you agree that using WSAD is a suboptimal control scheme for an isometric view game? Please explain how it would be harder. Oh wait i know, it would result in you saying "I didnt want my character to do that !". Other than that, it wouldnt be harder. Why do you desire a more frustrating game?

Why not turn your keyboard upside down and put the mouse in your left hand? Use a trackball?

Again, making a game harder to play by making the controls worse is very, very, very dumb. Im sorry you cant comprehend such things.

This game sounds awesome, great systems and all that, but sadly I refuse to play something with a monthly fee :/ I hope some company makes a F2P game with this system. I have been waiting many years for games to start using this way to handle combat.

God forbid you pay an extra 10-20 bucks to play a game you really want. I guess that would be illogical.

your anti-p2p bias is quite sad. esp when 90% of games sell for 69.99 and have 7 hours of gameplay.

Well, you 2 might not like using the WASD keys, probably because you can't multiple task your hands that well, but I personaly prefer it. You have your opinion, I have mine.

I dont like suboptimal control schemes. you have to be pretty retarded to like them.

I love WSAD when it adds to the gameplay and allows for more fluid controls/movement. If your opinion is the opposite then you sir are in the minority.

I'm not saying to not use the mouse either. But to limit the use of the mouse. A different aspect on the game that would make the game play a little bit more challenging and intense.

    Dumb.

You dont make a game more intense by giving the users a crappier control scheme. You do it by making the content challenging and intense.

Here, play a fps with a air-sim joystick. it must be better because its more challenging LOLLLLLLLLL

In D1 Diablo has just been released from his imprisonment. He's still weak at that point, and thus needs a weak host:

In D2 he's stronger, so now he goes around freeing his brothers. When they're freed Diablo goes to rule Hell and Baal goes to destroy the Worldstone. I think that their plan all along was to destroy it and that Diablo going into hell is just a way to lure the Hero away from Baal.

Now the Worldstone is destroyed and every demon and angel has the ability to roam Sanctuary free of charge.

The only question I ask is: what happened to Diablo and Mephisto when their soulstones were destroyed? Were they returned to the Burning Hells because the had no foothold in Sanctuary or were their Souls actually crushed?

worldstone didnt shield sanctuary anymore. it only limited powers of the humans
