Nov 2, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Soon™ - a.k.a. when is it done?Well they've said recently it was actually going to be a bit longer, and that it can vary based on the random spawns you get, and how many of those things you engage in.Posted in: News

Oct 31, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Soon™ - a.k.a. when is it done?Oh yea, I was just talking about Vivendi Games. My bad. I'm just saying that Blizzard is the only reason Activision bought Vivendi Games, and they agreed to have their name be changed to incorporate them, so clearly theres a level of respect between the two companies, and Activision isn't going to just screw them over.Posted in: News

Oct 31, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Soon™ - a.k.a. when is it done?"Vivendi Games was a 100% subsidiary of Vivendi SA . Headed by Bruce Hack, it was headquartered in Los Angeles, California and employed over 3,400 people at 4 separate development divisions. Vivendi Games owned the rights to such popular franchises as Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo and World of Warcraft (all games developed by Blizzard Entertainment) as well as others like Empire Earth, Leisure Suit Larry, Ground Control, Tribes, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon owned by Sierra Entertainment. It is now merged with Activision and is known as Activision Blizzard."Posted in: News

The entirety of Vivendi merged with Activison, and many of their products (with the exception of yearly releases and Blizzard's games) were gutted in the merger. -
Oct 31, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Soon™ - a.k.a. when is it done?Posted in: NewsVivendi holds 52% of the shares of Activision-Blizzard, i.e. has complete decision power over the merged company. Nothing really changed at Blizzard.
Thats not entirely true, as many of Vivendi's companies were forced to make their games on Activision's one year cycle, with the exception of Blizzard (because of WoW's money making). Activision is the company who bought Vivendi, not the other way around. Vivendi still has controlling stock, but Activision was allowed to make many decisions. The deal was only made so that Activision could get Blizzard, they weren't at all interested in the rest of Vivendi. Thats why its Activision-Blizzard, not Activision-Vivendi.
That being said, the conspiracies about Activision bullying Bilzzard are certainly bogus. -
Oct 29, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Character CustomizationI know that, but I'm just saying that the icons look how the actual armor looks on the character. Like I know he'd have plate armor, but I thought it would be more like with the wizard where its mostly robe but then plate legs and arms. But that icon looks like just a kinda beefy plate chest, which doesn't go with the orange robe look we've seen up until now.Posted in: News

Oct 28, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Character CustomizationJust noticed something here: In the talisman picture with the monk, he has plate armor on according to the icons. If thats an actual armor for the Monk, he could wear plate armor.Posted in: News

Oct 26, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Wilson on Diablo III and Press ConferencePosted in: NewsQuote from Gheed2010At least the fact that they're doing an e-sports type arena means that upper management is imposing its ideas on the team, which is actually a good thing in terms of meaning it might actually be released in the next few years.
Uhhh they specifically said they aren't doing e-sports arenas because they don't want to make those sacrifices. So yea. Wrong. They basically explicitly said this is a PvE (aka PvM) game and PvP is on the side. I love that decision personally. I like PvP and I like PvE, but trying to balance the two together can be a nightmare/impossible. -

Lol, Jackzor Scyber and I were raging about that as well while taking down notes. Sadly, we have no picture of the Mystic :(.
Camera dude should be fired.
Yea! I was damn pissed! Well at least we saw the jeweler. And everything was else was excellent. We'll see him/her sooner or later haha. -
Oct 23, 2010Jackzor posted a message on The Blizzcon HubDoes anyone have a picture of the Mystic artisan? I don't know if there was a picture or not, but while Jay Wilson was talking about the Mystic on the video feed, it kept looking at his face instead of showing the powerpoint they had going. It showed the Blacksmith and Jeweler right after it so I assume there was a picture of the Mystic as well.Posted in: News

Oct 22, 2010Jackzor posted a message on The Blizzcon HubMy first reaction to this was like "oh cmon dual crossbows" but when it showed the gameplay footage I was very impressed. Seems to fit in very well with the rest of the game. I don't like the ranged archetype so I don't think I'll be playing it any time soon, but I still welcome its addition.Posted in: News

Oct 20, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Male Barbarian Armor Set RevealedThe male barbarian is the same one as in D2, so 20 years plus however old he was then. I'd say 50-60ish maybe? Idk, but hes old.Posted in: News

Oct 20, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Diablo III's PvP System to be Revealed at BlizzconI think PvP, along with achievements as has been said, could be a very good motivator to get to 60 and unlock some sweet PvP stuff. Like its something thats different every time just because your playing different people, so it would be a very good motivator to get every last reward and piece of gear so you can dominate other people, and if they make levels matter, so a level 50 can't really kill a level 60, and possibly more PvP options (if they have some kind of variety in the way you can do PvP as opposed to only dueling), would be a very good motivator to get to 60 and would also supply a good end game that doesn't get repetitive.Posted in: News

Oct 19, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Wizard Looks Good in New Item Set"Act II has a variety of locations that aren't just sand blown desert. New locations and changing scenery keep things interesting. We're upping the ante, so you're not going to go into an act and it's essentially the same look and tileset the whole way through. We keep a theme but there's a ton of variation possible, even in a desert." -BashiokPosted in: News
I can find the link to the quote again but I just looked it up for a different topic. The environments change, possibly drastically, in each act. -
Oct 19, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Male Barbarian Armor Set RevealedPosted in: NewsQuote from PhrayedI believe they said the last thing that they were going to be working on was items if I am not mistaken.
Oh very nice. See, that was a win-win for me. Either I'm right, which was not the case, or I'm wrong, and the game is closer to completion than I thought, which is the case haha. The only problem I could see with this is that "itemization" says to me more actual stats on the armor/weapons, as opposed to models and textures. So if they're only done with the actual looks, and not the stats, then it could be farther from completion than that makes it seem. I doubt that kind of stuff takes all that long compared to other stuff though, but of course I'm not a game designer.
And they probably are done with the Monk stuff, or at least enough for Blizzcon, as these are the armor sets the characters will wear in the demo, so the Monk has to have something, so it is odd they wouldn't show anything for the Monk, unless they're just using placeholders or the same armor as last demo or something. -
Oct 19, 2010Jackzor posted a message on Male Barbarian Armor Set RevealedWell these are the armor sets that the classes are going to use in the Blizzcon demo, so it can be assumed they wouldn't just give one class/gender better armor than the rest, so thats why I assumed they were the same tier. He only said it wasn't the same armor set, not a different tier completely. So if that is the case, then this is probably the male barbarian's 5th set out of 16 or 18, whichever one he said about a previous set.Posted in: News
I don't remember them ever saying they were done with all Wizard armor, and even if they are, that doesn't say anything about overall progress. I have to imagine designing large quest chains and environments is much harder and more time consuming than making armor. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Where in any interview did they say or imply that the entire team was working on this at any time? Compared to stuff like the rune system its not that much work, and it probably took less time than the Artisans.
Really? Because if anything these followers look extremely high quality to me. Not to mention that this was apparently one of the first systems they had implemented.

They definitely won't.
Which also makes it very easy to experience their story for anyone wondering about that, seeing as playing through Normal will take about .5 seconds.

Also, magic find (last we heard) only applies to the person who has the magic find item/skill/etc. Not to mention that the names of some of the followers skills seems to imply they will boost your MF as well.
There wasn't really a new set of followers in each difficulty. It was really only that they had a higher level, and since these followers keep their level ups even if they 'die,' it won't really be necessary to introduce a new list of higher level followers.

As in they could essentially make it so that its just another thing you can put money towards, and since you only have limited funds its either you put gold in, say, followers, but that means you can't put it towards crafting better items or getting the best enchantments on all your gear at all times, etc. Especially if they die often and it costs money to resurrect them (which I'm assuming you'll be able to do, considering the customization that seems to go into each follower).
Obviously in the endgame things might change, since you can (presumably) save up gold much easier, so in order to be at the peak of your game you would still possibly need a follower, but well tuned gold costs could at least make it a choice thats not necessarily the best one while you're leveling.

I thought that as well, but starting at level 3 and getting a point every 3 level ups leads to getting your last point at level 60, which seems to make more sense than getting your last point at 59, or really any other level.
