posted a message on Is D3 dark enough for you now?
I see some improvement, but I still don't like the green/purple glow.
The problem I see with the videos and pictures are that they are too clean, by that I mean they lack any items on the floor. For example second act of D2 was desert filled every square with vases, skeletons, corpses, status and here and there tombs. All I see from the videos and pics are static domain of roads upon roads which are empty to say the least (ignoring the catacombs, they are not in the middle of the land).
Yea I know it's still in development but I can't help but to comment about what is to sure change my mind about the atmosphere of the game.
I feel ppl feel differently about "horror" and whatever makes us scared, that's why we differ so much about our opinion of atmosphere, not because we are less of a fans of the Diablo games.

The only real info we got is that the art director quit. that's for sure! (they posted on their site job application about new art director for Diablo 3, yea they specifically said D3)
Why he quit/got sacked we don't really know, we can only make assumption.
My guess is that he got fired because ppl didn't like what they saw, he made it too much "artistic" and wow-like. Blizzard doesn't wanna look weak and influenced by the angry messes made some excuse to cover it up by saying he quit to open his own company.

    - Look in one of the reviews Wilson stated that 4 chars out of 5 are fully playable and that they are working now on act II. there are still places the new art director can influence big time, if not why not give the job to one from within Blizzard if there are oh so little changes needed? doesn't make sense imo.

Sorry to go off-topic but If you didn't heard the news about the the art director quitting your should get up to date, it's major development imo.

    http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13678

This may change at least SOME of the stuff we wanted about the art.
last interview I read Wilson said they are working now on Act II so the game is far from finished (If we take into account there will be 4 acts)

posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director Resigns
    Good News IMO

When I sat down with lead “Diablo III” designer Jay Wilson last week to talk about the team’s design choices and his thoughts on fan-altered screenshots, he told me that Morrisroe was the one who spearheaded the franchise’s design changes. Specifically, I asked who we should blame for the rainbows. Wilson said:
“If you want to blame anyone for the rainbows, you’d blame our art director Brian [Morrisroe]. Because Brian is more the person who drove the art style into where it is. But it didn’t really come directly from him. What he brought to the art team was concepts and ideas — the idea of contrast, the idea of using color more, the idea of going for a more stylized look. Because what we were looking at before was more photo-realistic. Really trying to get something that looks like a painting — that was his goal. But the actual result of that came from the art team. And a lot of the environment guys, and some of the texture artists, they’ve all kind of chipped in to try and get the feel of something that was very unique.”

When I read this I thought It's good that he Quit, or as I believe got sacked and was told to say he leave on his own account. Blizzard doesn't like to show weakness, they wanna look firm in their decisions without getting swayed by the fans outcry.
Who in his right mind leaves Blizz in the middle of such major project to build his own company with the state of the market today. Couldn't he wait some more? who knows, They should interview him and not Blizz about it, maybe he'll spill the beans.
And If he leaves in the middle it's not going to help his resume

Anyway ppl Ignore to what he "contribute" to the art as stated above. It can't be bad to get new perspective to stuff after all his good doings /sarcastic off
Why not elevate someone within Blizzard to the job if it's not a major role still? If the art direction is completely done with why not to...? The answer I vote for that it's not over & done with, expect some changes.

Unless they make some new features in the option tag you don't have the tools to make it look like it came out of photoshop. lowering all the gamma in the game isn't a solution.

    - close this thread it's beaten to death.

They should make it toggle in the options.
Some of us do have the pc to play it on full settings easily enough I wanna see my handy work not see it disappear after 2 sec.
Shame on the skills that use corpses, they won't be available anymore.

move on move on move on -_-
Why If we don't want to? there is no reason to! Why to ruin a non broken game mechanic instead of improving it? Did you ever saw an auto arrange button before? you click on it and it's 90% arranged perfectly!~ (TQ)
They are just being lazy to implant it cause it a little more work, and hell 9 million wow subscribers just loveeeed the inventory there.
Inventory Tetris is a an old as diablo 1 and give more spirit and dimensional to items, believe it or not ring doesn't take space as spear in any backpack.
They made bags now isn't it enough influence from wow?
come on 4 bags are more than enough (+ the cube space or some extra storage to craft/combine items)
I call this syndrome wownized, taking unwanted and non needed elements from wow.

So I take it that you play World of Warcraft?

    Cheers,
SmashBoy (just going by your own words)

Played it a little, around 5-6 months and got rid of it - seen all done all syndrome or at least it felt like it at the time.
I'm not very much competitive so pvp is not such an high priority on my list, games for me meant to be relaxing.
Moreso the expansion of WoW didn't convince me at all to buy it, only 10 lvls more...and suddenly all your hard grinded item were rendered useless cause you could get better items easy from lvl 60+ quests.
It totally sucks, just money money money on their minds when they made this game.
