The thing about fighting Duriel and Andarial (and even Mephisto) in the previous games is that they were bosses I knew little about and therefore the fights didn't mean much.

I hope Blizzard gets better this time around at making this lesser evil fights seem more dire by providing some more context in the future.

And not only that, but now that we have the interactive environments, I'd like to see the major bosses utilizing their environments to gain the upper hand. Let's have shockwaves from Duriel knock down boulders, let's have Diablo's rampaging cause lava to burst from the ground and pour over sections, let's have Mephisto set up moving electrical traps and such.

posted a message on Diablo 3 on a console??
I'm of the opinion that spreading games across PC with other consoles ruins the controls, for all systems involved. Should a console version release 8-12 months after the PC version, and just be a port, that I'm all for. Let them devs focus their efforts on making the best damn PC game they can, and then if they want to make some changes for other ports, they can.

    Just how I feel.

posted a message on Paladins in D3 - picture proof...
The Paladins and their religion are a good source of lore that ties directly in with the fight against Diablo and the other evils. I think given that, there is a very high chance we'll either see the Paladin return, or a new class linked closely with the rebuilding Zakarum.

As to those pics tho... I'm thinking NPCs/Mercs.

Personally, I think I'm going to wait until I see some more dungeons and crypts before I call anything on this one. I have faith that the designers know that the Diablo atmosphere comes largely from the dark and dreary looking world, and that we'll still get a lot of that.

On the upside, a bit of color is nice. Kinda makes you realize the world of Sanctuary might be worth saving after all, heh.

My first encounter with the Butcher was when I realized that I was truly descending into a lair of madness. If only more of the bosses had been as memorable.

The whole game play looks like a great mixture of slaughter and strategy, and this is definitely coming through in the boss fights. Very much looking forward to it.

Trust me ... nothing has changed what do you expect?Diablo/Baal and all those bosses had been destroyed in the previous sequel.. you expect to start off on an evil place? it will change

That's a great point, and one I'd like to reiterate. I love the idea of there being a high value of contrast to the environments. After all, Lut Gholein didn't look all that dark on the outside. It was only when you started descending into the sewers and such that things began to get darker.

The prime evils have been gone for 20 years, so it makes sense that the world is starting to brighten up a bit. I'm sure a slow descent into ruin and destruction around the world would make for a great feel to the game.

posted a message on Classes and Skills - Please keep all KNOWN skills and classes discussion here
    My predictions:

    1) A Shapeshifter. Worked well with the druid in d2, and has been explored in wow. While they could bring the druid back for this position, I think it more likely we'll have some sort of Demonologist class that changes form into various demons. Class may also be a hybrid spellcaster, would likely have frost as a key element, considering witch doctor gets fire/disease.

    2) A ranged character. I'm thinking something along the lines of combining the bow/javazon with trap assassin. Lots of lightning element perhaps, such as a variant of the lightning fury ability of the javazon?

    3) Either bringing back the Paladin, or creating a new priestly/crusader type hero, once again using auras. Probably make the hero a bit more of a caster this time around, melee/caster hybrid?

It's a little early to be gauging the real pace of the game. The stuff in the gameplay video had to be a certain speed to make narration possible. I like the look of it, actually, looks like a good blend of slaughter and strategy.

Well, we've got Barbarian returning and the new Witch Doctor, so who will the other 3 be?

Obviously, these are just guesses, but they seem reasonable to me. Thoughts?

Edit - just noticed the sticky on it, gonna paste this stuff over there
