posted a message on New Hero??? Ya, I think it is!
Yes, other mobs do look 'as rendered' as this. They haven't announced or accidentally slipped any material about the other classes. They aren't that careless or stupid.

Look at the other artwork / models / etc. of the 2 revealed classes. This isn't even remotely as interesting / cool / complex / etc.

    It's. A. Mob.

Thread over. Nice try. Please stop.

posted a message on Will you upgrade your computer for D3??
I've got a Mac Book -- CPU and RAM should be more than fine, but I'm sure the 144 MB shared RAM Intel Express video card won't cut it.

Short answer: If I have to, yes. :)

posted a message on Hopefully, No maphack.
Maphack never bothered me too much -- I admit I used it after I had played for years and it merely saved time, though I'll grant it's still a hack so I'm not proud of it.

I'd prefer there be no maphack, because it would be tempting to use and I'd hate to ruin the experience.

Third. There's some exaggerated frustration going on in the OP, but really I think he's right. People really need to relax.

    A petition? Really? Already?

posted a message on Let's the 'When is it coming' threads to rest
Mirroring what so many other threads have said on the topic I think there are roughly 3 camps / possibilities on release from the information and speculation we have at hand:

1- The ridiculously optimistic (yet not impossible) hope that we see in ~6 months (in time for the 2008 holidays). I see the slightest of chances for this, mostly based on speculation that Blizzard is much further along in development and testing than they've let on. It is important to keep in mind that just because they haven't announced system specs / classes / etc. it isn't necessarily true that these things aren't locked in or mostly locked in and they just don't want to announce them yet (spreading it out, keeping excitement and hype up. It is possible we could see a trickling of announcements over the next 4 months and eventually an announcement of Christmas 2008, but as so many have stated this is a very tiny possibility to consider at this point.

2-The more realistic (and still optimistic) and logical opinion that we'll see a release in June 2009 that coincides with the D2 / LoD launch dates and celebrates the 10-year franchise anniversary. This gives them a year yet of solid development and testing, which on top of the past 4.5ish years of development makes for a very lengthy and healthy development time frame (in my opinion). Announcing the game 1 year prior to launch gives them plenty of time to build / maintain hype as well. Also the holiday season (Q4 2009) is logical.

3-The cynical yet not unjustified view that we won't see the game until 2010 / 2011. Not unrealistic, considering the amount of genuine effort that seems to be going into the game and Blizzard's track record of pushing back release dates (frustrating for us, we all know to make this game what Blizz wants it to be is in our best interest, no-one wants to see a black mark on the franchise -- this hasn't happened yet, and I doubt it will despite the ridiculous call to arms about alpha-stage graphics. Change isn't always a bad thing. In Blizz We Trust!). This does seem a bit long though, considering the previously stated fact that the game has already been in development for ~4.5 years.

    * * *

I hope this locks the dozens of new threads a day asking 'WHEN DO U THINK THE GAME WILL BE OUT?'. Based on the information we currently have and all of the speculation that has been floating around, I don't think much more can come from discussing it until we have more to work with.

I totally don't care, I know I'd never visit it.

What he said. I guess there are obviously people out there who see fun in it, but I've never understood it.

Just as long as they keep a Closed B.net and actually manage to keep hacks / dupes / etc. out of the picture for the rest of us, I say go for it?

I can assure you that Blizzard is taking a look at these forums and letting these ideas influence their decisions. I can tell you, personally, that changes do happen based on fan input. I've been pretty active on the teamliquid forums (SC2) and they made countless threads on the design of the seige tank and the viability of some units. And sure enough, after a couple of weeks, the changes were made. That is to say, that there was plenty of discussion in the forums about the topics, and the changes were actually logical.

Plus, the game was only announced last weekend, Blizzard hasn't had enough time to discuss and implement the topics brought up in this forum. Just wait.

You can 'assure' me huh?

I highly doubt it. From everything they've been saying they know exactly what they're doing. Now when there's a beta (open/closed/in-house/whatever) they will obviously be looking for input, but do you think they're sitting around the offices right now on these forums going, 'OMG DID YOU SEE THAT POLL WE BETTER BRING THE NECRO BACK' blah blah blah...

I agree with the idea that gamers don't necessarily know, in all seriousness, what they want, or they might not have the best ideas about how things should be implemented.

How often have we been blown away and thought, 'I never would have thought of that!'

Blizzard hires gamers. Yes, they're a company and their goal is to make money, but their best chance of doing that is creating a game that gamers will love and buy and keep coming back to and obsessively chatter to their friends about, etc. . .

I think 'fan input' is a factor, I do think our input is reflected, but that doesn't mean Blizzard needs to meander around forums on fan sites all day long to find it. They're smart. They're amazing at making good games. I don't think they need to come to diablofans.com for input :)

posted a message on When do you think D3 will come out?
To everyone saying something about 'more resources' being used for D3 after SC2 and WotLK are released, I wanted to say I don't think it works that way...it was my my understanding that each game has it's own unique dev team, and I'm not sure they just bring the SC2 people over once it's released...like all games it will need further development on patches, (probable) expansions, etc...

I could easily be wrong. Just sayin'.

posted a message on Diablo 3 will have DX10.1? Almost 100% -announced 25 june 2008- read about it here!.
Came by just to reiterate what everyone else has already said:

They just stated directly in the Dev Q&A that it won't require DX 10.

    Thanks anyway. ;)

posted a message on How did you find out Diablo III was announced?
Not the most exciting story but random and interesting to me -- on Friday out of boredom at work and a bit of nostalgia I randomly decided to check out diabloii.net and saw all the rumors / talk about the Blizzard.com splash page, etc.

I didn't really believe D3 was coming, but I checked back on Saturday and the news was there! :)
