Crysis is pretty playable now with a 4850.... A cheap "mid-range" card.
Technology has progressed. There is no need to dumb-down graphics for that blatantly invalid reason.

It's... not blatantly invalid? You say it as if it can be ignored completely along with all the other factors.

Anyways, I've already said my piece and the graphics bit was only an afterthought. I'm also of the opinion that the game should be made "darker" but that's easily toggled. There are some points I'm a bit iffy on (RAINBOWS, ANYONE?), but it's daytime so there's not much to say until they can give us a shot of a decent range of environments.

Well, if you win your case and Blizzard makes it pay to play, I'm screwed until I get a job and out of the house. They'll probably be making Diablo IV by the time that happens.

People who don't see the WoW influence, look at the bridges in that first gameplay video; notice how sanded and clean the blocks which form the "ramparts" or sides are? Notice how soft and smooth and sanded the stairs are?

The Barbarian's muscles don't even look like muscles...more like painted on lines to denote muscles.

Well, fancier graphics calls for a better computer. Crysis was damn near unplayable at the highest quality setting (although I suppose that's going a bit off topic. Anyways, what with wanting of corpses and blood sprays staying longer as well, we're going to have to expect some compromise. Really, though, I'm drawing from a very limited pool of knowledge, so who knows, maybe they can add fancier muscles and bridges and still have it run smoothly on a mediocre computer.

    Interesting. Nice find.

Oh, I thought it was something they had already done in Diablo II and was just asking about it. My experience isn't very varied with this series.

As I wasn't too familiar with the first two games (familiar enough to know what I'm talking about, though), I found the game to look gorgeous. I really liked what they were doing with the art style of Diablo III, with the departure from 2.5D to yet another form of 2.5D- 3D that looks almost 2D (instead of the other way around). Not in a bad way, or even a Paper Mario way- that tree found inbetween the entrance to the dungeon and waterfall is a perfect example of how beautifully done it was. But I'm going to go ahead and guess that what people want to see are nitty gritty, more darker atmosphere. Well, that shouldn't be too difficult to change. If I remember right, WarCraft III came with the option of changing the lighting; I'm pretty sure they'll add that feature with Diablo III as well.

Then again, what with the large-scale debates going on, that's probably not what they're looking for either.

What I'm curious about is why the magic orb changed from turqoise to blue when the lead character switched from barbarian to witch doctor.

Thought I'd start up an account here, if only to see what the Diablo community is all about and interact with y'all. It's really frustrating when you're reading a topic and you find a point that you disagree with... but can't post because you're not registered! So I broke out of my apathy and here I am.

Honestly, I've never felt any attachment to the Diablo games, mostly because I've never even played the original and my experience with Diablo II was limited to Act I, half of Act II, and only with the Necromancer (I was visiting my relatives at the time and they happened to have the game). Heck, I had to go through both Wikipedia and Deckard Cain's journal to get an idea of the basic lore behind the Diablo world. But with the presentation of Diablo III, I can say with certainty that I'm more excited about it than StarCraft II, something which I've long held to be near the top of my list.

Those of you who plan to accuse me of swiping my name from WarCraft, please don't. I've been going under this alias before I even knew what WarCraft was and while I enjoy the games, I have yet to alight on that which is WoW. With the announcement of Diablo III (and StarCraft II being in the works as well), I might never get a chance to.

So, I guess I'll see you guys around.
