Video quality is completely unwatchable. Probably not anything at your end. I don't know if Justin.tv is the best site to use maybe? I don't know much about this admittedly

Am I the only one thinking that most of the gears look totally, totally ridiculous (especially the "transformer" barbarian ones?) :( What ever happened to elegance & contrast through subtlety?

The only redeeming factor is knowing that for visual readability at a distance it is probably appropriate to exaggerate some features - within reason, of course - and even then these feel like they might be pushing it :fret:

I guess we'll really just need to wait and see what they look like in-game from the isometric camera. Maybe I should buy a new screen that is the highest ppi I can find so theyr'e as small as possible onscreen... :P haha

How in the world do you figure that? We've said exactly what will come of this competition. Also you're speaking to a art student. Umpa.

You've speculated that it may or may not be a good opportunity for a designer.

Google "spec work" and see what you can learn about it, and how it's one of the largest issues facing the design industry today.

If you're just a dude playing round in photoshop then go nuts. This is mostly a message to anyone who thinks of themselves as an aspiring / serious artist or designer

This is an excellent opportunity for up and coming artists.

Yeah, the usual "this is a great opportunity for you, you should work for me for free and the prize will be to have it on my website!"

And as soon as these people go to design/art school their very first lecturer will tell them to vehemently avoid exactly these sorts of competitions. They are exploitive & dishonest at the very very least.

To anyone who takes themselves seriously (playing around or whatever is fine) have a read:

hnnnngh Just so you know... competitions like this are horribly despised in design circles (no prize even...seriously?) - mainly because it undercuts professionals who would charge a few thousand for a high quality logo, and also usually results in & promotes a very very low standard of design. If you're after a good logo you should really pay a professional to produce one (in other words - you get what you pay for). Jus' sayin'..

That said the submissions by Neshil and bc are both quite good, probably prefer bc's as the typography suits the tone of the diablo games.

    - Don't use clichés. I know it's tempting to use Exocet (the original Diablo UI font) or some other gory fonts, but try and break it up a bit. A brand can really stand out from the competition if it surprises the user with a fresh approach to the idea. There are, of course, a zillion theories on how this is not true, but I am in the "surprise-user" camp.

Although Exocet might not be perfect, I think it's incredibly important that the typography is considered with relation to it's context. I don't feel that your submission of a modern sans-serif suits the gothic mood of diablo, it's probably best to use a serif typeface of at least something with a "sharp" feel to it. Keep in mind I am not at all suggesting the use of novelty/display fonts...

Doesn't really look like you even need fury that badly - only 2 of your moves uses it and one of them has a 2 minute cooldown. Stick to frenzy for attacks and switch out most of the golden runes for higher damage/survivability imo

With any luck we might see some gear specifically set up to cater to melee wizards.

+damage % to magic weapon skill? Fingers crossed.

Also indigo rune looks much better than crimson on magic weapon imo

Nice build. I made a variation, I call it the Bloodier Whirlwind of Destruction:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#cYekTh!bdY!aaYYbZ

Also swapped out frenzy for cleave for better aoe and bloodsplosioniness. The idea is to furious charge into battle and grounstomp to build rage & gather enemies so that you can cleave & whirlwind them to death, while using overpower to up your crit chance and add more bloody explosions! Indigo rune in whirlwind for more aoe

Might require you to use a mighty weapon for the fury gen, you might find yourself a bit low at times. Possibly could swap out Animosity for Unforgiving and use axes / maces for the crit% instead, not sure

although I could totally see Earthquake being a viable situational "escape" move to use if you get surrounded.

ooooooooohhhh just had this idea: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#gWRdYQ!bTV!bYacZb

Leap attack is used to escape when enemies get too close, also deals a big aoe to them, and to boot generates additional rage! Have to say I think this beats earthquake/ground stomp as an escape move due to the rage gen and instant distance you build on them whereas those knockback moves tend to scatter enemies which might not be as good for positioning yourself safely

I think with a thrower build you really should use ancient spear - the cooldown reset from No Escape shouldn't be overlooked.

If you exclusively* use it as a finishing move you'll never have a cooldown - meaning you can use it almost as much has you want which makes it a really effective rage generator for weapon throw - the bonus damage on Ancient Spear with alabaster rune really reinforces this.

Both ground stomp and earthquake require you to get pretty close for them to be effective - I think you're asking for trouble - although I could totally see Earthquake being a viable situational "escape" move to use if you get surrounded. You do however miss out on a really nice damage & crit bonus from Wrath of the Berserker. Also to me using those moves doesn't feel like a "pure" thrower build but that's just me (I like the idea of a wrath of ther berserker'ed up dude throwing axes like a maniac)

*can still be used situationally for knockback as an added utility bonus
