I gotta say that the Diablo series was never addicting to me. Sure after work I'd log on and do some boss runs, clear a few dungeons, and maybe duel a little. However I've never felt compelled to be a slave to the game. I expect this will be the same for me when D3 comes out.
The really thing you have to ask your self is
Would you rather play 18 hours a day for some low drop item, or get a job and have ladies touch you
I'm all for changes and love the changes that blizz has made to make the game more fun. However the idea of limiting how many boss runz you can do in a day/week/or month is simply the dumbist idea I've ever heard. Even if doing boss runz net you the most loot for you time and only being able to do a boss run via monthly will only mean people will just sit their watching the clock/clandar for their next big score.
Im all for change I've listed several ideas that would make boss runz not the only game intown. So you should know that Im not saying boss runz are the be all of the game. Im simply saying that limiting the boss runs is simply not a good idea.
The whole idea of only killing bosses once a day/week/month is just not working for me even if I take everything I know about D2 out the window. The fact is Diablo is a loot based game and Boss runs would be the most effecitve way to get loot. Unless they give us somthing more rewarding or fun to do. Personally I like killing bosses I really loved when the boss was way to hard for me to kill alone but I did it via health pot restacks. Then after I leveled up I'd go back and beat him to a bloodly corpse.
Now with D2 in mind I never knew anyone that minded boss farming. Most people did it to eat time or to try and find that epic last set peice/awsome sword they could find or have anythiing to trade for it. I loot farm for duels as I've always seen it as why get the gear if you can kill you buds with those nice items.
Things D3 could do different that would make boss runs more rewarding and less of farm situation.
Nerf the crap out of telle/other movement spells
Waypoints not being close to bosses
Respawn of Monsters ie.You gotta rekill to get to that boss if you didnt drop a portal
Make the bosses more challenging
Randomly spawned unique bosses over the world ie.WoW's Dragons(this is just an example)
Fact is limiting runs is just crazy it was crazy when WoW did it and it will be crazy is D3 dose it to.
I think limiting on how many times you can farm a boss is just dumb. I never minded boss farming and did my fair share of those 20 baal runs a day to get my self leveled up before going to the next difficulty. Now what they should do to get people into actually exploring the place wether it be a dungeon or landscape would be to have randomly spawned/placed unique chests or monsters that would yeild high quality items. This would make people search for them and thus have to go threw all the maps to find these bad boys.
Even if my idea dosent get in or if the dev's dont think about I still really dont mind boss farming for items. Tho the team has stated that they are looking into making boss farming not the only game in town when it comes to finding those nice drops.
Your logic is sound I will give you that. Yes all the classes seem to be able to work in both ranged/in your face beat downs. With that logic I still say that the next class will to still be an ranged class but not pure ranged. If you take into account DnD you will find the class "Seeker" which is a Ranger with melee. This means
Damage type
Ranged Bows,Cross Bows..ect
Melee, Swords,axes..ect
Tho he will be better at ranged than in standard combat. They will have to implement some kind of class that utilizes bows as they are in the game and would be a waste of dev time to create bows just so some one could put it on a barb and never use it.
As for the gameplay vids I could have sworn I saw a staff drop.
Well to be honest the screen shots just look like blizzard added all of the details to the graphics ie..Lighting,shading,texture...ect. The screen shots to me show one thing alpha graphics vs beta graphics which is what is going to happen in D3.
Its kinda like when War Hammer was/still is in development and people said wow those graphics really suck. Then they showed the people a 20 sec clip of what the game will look like when they add of the graphics and people were happy.
Pretty much means that fans really need to learn paitience.
Well I dont know if anyone has said this yet but. First WoW took the idea of skills and talent trees from Diablo, and then with WoW they improved on it. So really you shouldn't have a problem with this becuase D came first wow came in and siad hey lets try it this way and perfected it.
This is kind of why i hate these forums people say things like "Zomg WoW this..WoW that" when in reality WoW devs took so much from D1 and D2, but since it seems people who played D2 never played wow they cant realize this fact.
Wait I dont get this thread when I've read so many. From what I've seen everyone wants the game to be reaslistic and then some one posts something that says str shouldnt affect what armor you can wear? I'm not saying the OP is a hypocrit but isnt this a direct hypocratic post to people who want this game to be realistic ?
As far as modding goes I seriously doubt that they will allow a world editor for reasons that everyone should know already by useing their brain.
Now as far as modding the UI sure they could allow tools for that, or mods similar to wow mods. But editors and making your own maps I wouldn't hold my breath for that one.
Well one of the high up people making D3 said and I quote "Respecs are awsome" so wether you guys want them or not they will most likely be in their. Personally I dont see why people care all the much about this issue. So what you make a character one way if you decide to change your mind you can respec.
Or if you want to play it the old and way outdated way and make a new char with the new type of style then you can do it to.
Just becuase their is a respec feature dosnet mean you have to use it. Also haveing a respec feature dosent harm the replay value either.
Well the way WoW stoped dupeing on their servers was threw their coders. The made the system so that every item had its own specific code and when an item is duped it copys that code. So all of a sudden there are two 11ks02's in the world instead of one and they then delete both.
As for botting for gold and items I think it will always be their no matter what game you play. However botting isnt the much of a big deal as long as theirs an eye out for them.
So basicly Botters will always exsist. But for dupeing if they code their game right they can effectivly stop it.
I really should go to the official page more often.
/facepalm
Eh no worries man.
Altho that is the reason I dont post much on the forums here. Not to many people that post here really take the time to do research I take it as most of the people are either way young, just no time to look, or people have selective hearing/reading.
However on the topic of skills do you guys think they'll add new warcrys to the game ? It would be cool to see a warcry that did/could hurt or straight kiill mobs lol

Most people like to see how much damage they are doing as opposed to just guessing and smashing things QQ more.
