Funny how that many are not interested in the game anymore, yet visit a news site.

posted a message on New Bug - Barbarian Edition, Developer Blogs in the Works, Activision Blizzard Q2 2012 Conference Call, Diablo III Web API .NET
    Quote from youwillneverknow

FYI: from a professional coders perspective, at least the wizard 'bug', was definitely an intended combo created by some/many software developers. Software engineers do stuff like this all the time sometimes with out consent from over head... Its a very random combo and action that you would either have to know how to do or be real lucky to stumble upon it.

Of course the typical Blizz response will say they didn't know about it...but believe me they did, or at least someone at Blizz did.
If you are really a "coder", I would never hire you. The Wizard invincibility combo could easily be stumbled on (2 abilities used back-to-back...), and if you believe this was a purposeful combo, then I can only hope you don't work on any sensitive RL applications.

The sort of thing that gets put in on purpose for the jollies of the engineers (at least by competent engineers) are multi-key sequences, usually with some other key held down. They also sometimes require you to be in a particular location.

posted a message on How to kill Ghom, Azmodan and Diablo Inferno as a Barbarian (easy and very cheap gear!)
Wow, the Cheap Barbarian End-Game Build on the News post is Very misleading. End-game is not the easy-as-hell bosses, it's the difficult champions. Either the OP has no clue about D3 or the Mods at diablofans.com don't...take your pick, but someone is an idiot here.

"June 15th"...so you're predicting Inferno Diablo killed in less than 1 month? Blizzard would need to have exaggerated Inferno difficulty if that is true, even considering that this is for "elite" players.

I'd give it at least 45 days.
If it will survive for a week or two that will be a win for Blizzard. We will see kill by the end of this week.
With random loot drops, and the guarantee of gear-check, I'd be surprised if it was possible from a numbers perspective. I'm not doubting the skills of everyone's youtube heros -- I simply doubt that the game itself was designed to be beatable until more items have dropped (gems, crafting recipes/high-end sets), which won't happen in a couple weeks unless the drop rates are way over-tuned.

posted a message on Closed Beta Players - "One of the Chosen" Feat of Strength
This would be fine if it was truly random, but it was far from it.

All "press" automatically get this, even without opting in.
The fansites that got keys to give out got to choose who gets this (including those who secretly tossed a couple to their personal friends).

Add in that many people who got in didn't even play, and this becomes the least-thought-out crap I've seen from Blizzard in years.

posted a message on US Servers go live at 12:01 a.m. PDT, EU servers will go live at 00:01 CEST
Those outside PDT should be happy that they will be able to actually play *at* midnight. People in PDT will be decrypting/installing/driving-home, starting at midnight -- everyone else will be siting at the loading screen, snacks and beer at hand.

posted a message on Systems Questions, Demon Hunter Spotlight, Inferno Poll
Most requests made in these particular forums will be for advanced or internal information/mechanics. As !awesome! as it would be for Blizzard to honor these, given their track-record, it's doubtful they will -- that is why Arreat Summit was invented...it's a *fansite*, even if it's now hosted on Blizzard servers. More recently, games like WoW had the same questions, and instead of answering them, they watchd as fansites like wowhead (and thottbot), EJ, wowcensus, world of logs (and WWS), and recently wowreforge (, ... I could go all day) had to be created to theorycraft/guess/answer the questions that Blizzard had the answers to at their freaking fingertips.

My point is that there will be fan sites that provide the info people have requested so far. Expecting Blizzard to put that stuff into the current "Game Guide", which is historically meant for people who are new to the franchise, is very optimistic. Sure, they may have made a New Years resolution to directly support their hardcore audience, but I'll be convinced only when I see it.

Good luck on your questions guys...maybe they can be used in a theorycraft fansite when/if Blizzard ignores us.

I don't think there is any region restriction to Diablo 3. I believe that basically everyone, no matter where in the world you are can choose to play on whatever region you want to. At least I think this is the case with the Digital Download and Global version of Diablo 3. If I remember correctly the game itself should not be region locked and you'll most likely only have to change region or possibly download another client and full installation of the game to play in another region :P
Correct, the binaries (digital or boxed) are all the same -- that's why they call it a "global" release. There are two things to note:
    - RMAH is regional, as it is governed by your local country. Even if you play somewhere else, you'll be using the RMAH that is for your local country.
    - There are servers where you create your character, but you can create it on any server in the world. It is, of course, ideal that you use the local one for latency reasons. The NA server (North America), and is default for US, Canada, Australia, etc (the standard group), but you don't have to use it. Note that the Gold AH is server-specific, so you're picking that when you pick a server also.

Can somebody please confirm what IGR stands for???
It stands for "Internet Gaming Room"...I had to add it to www.acronymfinder.com too...very strange.

It is a Korean concept that some US publishers began to support around the turn of the century. They can go to essentially an Internet Cafe, but for gaming, and rent gaming machines (with internet access and the latest games) that you wouldn't be able to afford/access otherwise to play the newer games available. The strings were added simply so that those cafes can do their job easier -- it's a lot better when the game itself understands that it's being rented.

    Edit: clarity.

posted a message on Diablofans Diablo 3 Beta Key Contests! 450 Keys to win!
Amazing..I dislike each contest you've come up with, which is a feat unto itself. The first requires us to post on forums that rarely have anything valuable to comment on these days. The second requires us to have an account with external sites, both of which are social networking sites -- why not just post the questions here? The third doesn't give any criteria -- is this for Inferno survival, Hardcore, or just screwing around?

Oh look, I've already entered the first contest. Nevermind.

There's nothing stopping Blizzard from limiting casters to only wands/staffs. They are letting us wield additional weapon types because there's technically no harm in it. For those who don't like this change, you are free to refuse to use melee weapons for your RP (or whatever) reasons.
