Well I think I've found my class now, was hoping for a more knightly class but I'm confident the monk will be engaging to play as.
I hope this class will be all about channeled attacks through their staff or whatever other weapon(s) they use, and not have any hand-to-hand combat skills tbh, fighting against demons like that just never seemed fitting to me.
As for lore, I'm betting the monk will be a disciple of Zakarum (think holy bolt, its a staple of this series) like the paladin, but studying in seclusion somewhere instead, and will be more spiritually inept (kind of a given really). My guess is that he/she will be from somewhere near or in that mountain region near Ureh.
I hope they don't go cheese though and just spin the lore off from that monk in the old D1 xpac.

I wish they didn't make certain skills look so appealing though....everyone and their grandmothers going to be using exploding palm as a combo finisher. I want to see more variety.
And whoever said the monk has no other similarities to the paladin besides the holy theme, watch the combat video again, the monk also offers support like the Pally. See how one of the spheres around his neck rises in the air and creates that magic barrier protecting the team, that's one of I'm sure many support skills this class will utilize.
You know what, after watching the videos again, it seems that the monk's staff is going to be tied to his defensive skills, while I'm guessing the claws will be tied more to his offensive side.

Some of you guys need to understand too that what was stated by Jay, I think it was, is that the class will be "someone from the past". Add that to the other statement that there will be no other returning classes besides the Barb, and you can assume that they're talking about an NPC from the past games. Though I'm thinking it might be two NPCs from the past, as they have to have a male and female version.

Also look at the color schemes of the known classes, it's almost certain that the last one will have a green tent which also kind of implies a class tied to "nature", ala Hunter of Ranger.
That line that Jay stated about "a character from the past" though kind of throws a loop in all this. My guess would be tha rogue captain in Act 1, but she's a rogue and as we've all heard over and over again, the barb is the only one returning from the past. Plus, really how can it be a character from the past when each class is going to have a male and female version. I haven't played D1 nor D2 in a while but does anyone remember any brother and sister NPCs from the past games????

Plus, I remember about the Fiery Angel you're talking about that the wings only appeared to be on fire because of how the energy of them was flailing.

It's under the FAQ at the site:
As to who went crazy and who didn't, the Paladin and the Barb (obviously) are the ones I could see most likely not being scarred bad enough to go crazy from the whole thing.

Yep, the day LoD came out, or actually the patch that came with it, was the day D2 started to lose its shine for me and many others. My char that I had worked so hard to level and equip up became practically useless. With LoD plus synergies together now, you pretty much have about four or a few more cookie cutter builds that you are "suppose" to choose from depending on your class to be viable, and even your end-game gear is basicly predetermined. I pretty much stopped playing at that point, coming back for a little while just to beat Baal, but lost interest to play in the "set path" state its in now.
Well to let you know If you don't know, there's a patch in the making that's suppose to refresh this game a bit. I'm waiting on it with the hopes that it will bring in some more variety to the game, along with new content, and bring back that enjoyment like when playing D2 classic.
Sorry I can't give you any help on getting out of that bind you're in but there are a number of builds listed at various fansites (heh) for starter chars and gear to go along with them.

Besides the corruptive theories (which I don't believe in any of them either), I don't think the answer to this question is that complex. Most likely, Baal and Diablo in their weakened states were barely strong enough to get an upperhand on Tyrael, and when they did, they probably just wanted to stall him long enough to complete their master plan which would have a much more lasting effect than anything they could have done in that chamber at that time.

Putting potions back in the belt slots is one I'd like to add to mine too, I'm surprised they haven't already done this yet.
As mentioned by me and many others though, I really want to see runewords toned down a bit, well some alot. I miss the variety in gear D2 classic had being that rares were the elites, and none being exactly the same, there were always new and better ones to see. Synergies were the main D2 turnoff for me, starting the D2 cookie-cutter era (whirlwind pike barbs were popular before I recall but there were many other types too).
Adding new content is agreed by everyone, and a given I think, but rather than finishing out the Act IV quests I'd like to see something that calls for ppl to collaborate together in order to get to it. Simultaneously completing objectives in different acts or something along that line.
As for making gold actually have value, I think its too late for that. Items have become the monetary standard for too long, but who knows, maybe they could come up with a creative use that would catch on.

- the toning down of runeword items, there was no diversity in gear anymore because no reare or custom made items could compete with the overpowered runeword items
- some of the synergies made a little less complimentart to each other to help promote diversity instead of the same old cookie cutter builds
- have a toggle of some other controls to be able to make your hirelings or (mercs) not attack specific targets
- and something that's annoyed me for a while, PLEASE OF PLEASE allow the hirelings(rogue and barb specifically) to have their armors upgrade as they level to match up with ours, it's annoying to see my char decked out in gear while their's makes them look like they're still at level one
That's all I can think of right now but what are some things you all want to see added or changed?

(A little post dated, but....) I think this theory makes more sense than any of the other ones I've read. That symbol on that angels chest is obviously a cross which would correlate best with Yearius, who I personally believe is the Archangel of Truth and/or Light. I'm still wandering how people are concluding that that could be Imperius when an excerpt explicitly states what he has pictured on his chest piece, a cross not being it.
I think you might be on to something here....well actually, I'm really, really confident that you might have hit this nail right smack on the head.

Something tells me this class will be tied in with her as a concurrent story in D3 or....possibly just her fate.

Something tells me the last class, likely being a melee fighter with a shield, will be based around using enchantments for both offense and defense. Maybe having enchantments do damage or boost defense of the party, when activated and/or when they release, or something along that line. The name being Templar, Crusader, or maybe just Enchanter.
