The entire thread was a poorly veiled attempt at re-hashing the PK debate. So, though it is completely off-topic, it remains true to the underlying intent.

    Cheers,

Yep. It was posted about 3 pages back, I think. Too many peeps inciting civil war over the issue. The "I wanna be able to PK at random" people Vs. the " I wanna MP online with my buddies whithout hastle" people.

Well separate realms for PvP type experiences has worked for some online type games. I remember EQ1 was quite good on that. PK'ing was pretty rampant then too if you just happened to walk out of Freeport, but you had to be, if I remember right, about level 6 or more before you could be PK'ed at all. After that you were free game. I remember being double teamed once. Not pleasant. Kept stalking and killing me until they took everything I had of value......along with everybody else.

Of course there were those out there that HUNTED the PK'ers. I seem to remember a few like that in D1 as well. They set up games that were just PK'er traps. I ramble now. I'm sorry. ;)

The best way for me to tell for myself if a game would suck to me would be to play the demo. I will give ya my opinion when the demo comes out or if I manage to get into the beta. ;)

The thing that bothers me is WHY do we need to know how much DPS a weapon can do?

In Diablo and Diablo 2, you were one shotting everything in massive waves up until Hell difficulty so that's a pretty good idea of how much damage I'm doing. Enough to kill whatever steps in front of me.

"How many whacks does it take to cleave a demon in half? LET's find out! One...uuh one:D"

The floating numbers? Hmmm... IDK. I would have to play the game and see how much they would ACTUALLY annoy me as opposed to casting immediate judgement. In some games it works fine, but D3?

It is very sad. HG:L had great potential IMHO, but failed to hit the mark. It had some of the influences of Diablo all the way. I just found it..... monotonous and kind of dull. The creatures and enviroments graphics were EXCELENT, but not the NPC's and the character art itself. A salute to those guys for a valiant effort even if their dreams were dashed. :(

...and the name calling starts again. SHEESH! Just because somebody has a difference of opinion, nobody should be called or call anyone "noob" or "idiot" or "carebear" or whatever. Pointing out somebody is wrong is one thing. Rubbing their face in it is quite another and inapropriate.

I think it would be more appropriate if evil had run amok all across the land, then darker skys and atmosphere would be more apropriate. Who knows. It might be that when you get to the Arreat Crater, it may have the darker atmosphere everybody is craving. I'm just guessing, of course.

Yeah. D1 and D2 were acutally coop RISKY rather than friendly. It was only friendly if you knew who were playing with. Risky in the fact that you took a chance whenever you played with somebody you didn't know.

Yeah, I bet it will turn into another PK/Anti-PK thread. As soon as the flames start burnin I WILL report it. Getting sick of the name calling and such with NO REAL intelligent defense or opposition.

Therein lies the problem: Both sides are chasing each other around the tree. Blizzard will do what it wants in the end and stop flaming each other. All it does is get the thread locked.

Well, no opinion is "strawman" if Blizzard has been taking both sides seriously. Regardless whether they are or aren't the ORGINAL Diablo crew. If the PK'ing issue WASN'T an issue at all, there wouldn't even be a "hostile" button even in D2. That's my opinion anyway.

Thats the game man! Thats PART of Diablo! I chose to utilize part of the game that the developers PURPOSLY put in.
The only reason the idea of taking it out is being entertained is because not only is the core diablo team not even working on D3... but blizzard has been softened from years of working with the WoW crowed. And not to put the WoW people down.

It was more than just the WoW crowd. Only 3 games have been, to my rememberance, have had sucess evenwith PK'ing: EQ 1, Ultima Online, and Diablo series. The other MMO's I can't speak for being that I haven't played them. The majority MAY have some type of PvP, but not a PK'ing system, par se. EQ had PvP servers and Ultima online and Diablo 1 had open season. D2 had a hostility button. I would look further into the history of PK'ing through ALL games and see where it's been leading. The player base for random PK'ing MAY be smaller than you think, or at least SHRINKING over the years. These are theories so don't flame, please. I'm just suggesting more research to see where the majority populace is going. I won't matter what I say or anybody else for that matter.

Yeah I said I wouldn't say anything on the topic any more, but I really don't think we should bash a crowd from another game for not wanting PK'ing in Diablo 3. Acutally, they shouldn't have a say unless they actually PLAYED D1 and D2 on a regular basis.

Considering the problems we have been having lately on both the D3 forums, how about the Flaming Troll class. I'll leave the skill creation to you guys. YES, I'm trying to be funny. :D

It was pretty much HEATEDLY discussed here. It was locked afterwards because people were being basically called "idiots" or "carebears (soft/weak)" from either side PK issue. I stated my own opinions in there. I don't have to say any more. I posted the link for the sake of trying to prevent re-posting of topics that get flamed or trolled very easily.
