So Diablo 1 was gothic because it was all brown, black and had Hell in the game? What do you think gothic is then?

edit: Or maybe you mean gothic fiction (which is set in gothic architecture) which has demons, supernatural, death, decay, curses, ghouls, ghosts, castles, nutcases, magicians. Which are all clearly absent from D3 because it's D3: World of Pony Keeping. Oh wait, they are in D3.

What I'm saying is that the word "gothic" becomes something different when used in the context of "gothic architecture". Nothing fancy, really.

You're telling me the architecture at the start is not gothic? Theres arches, columns, torches etc. Gothic doesn't require darkness or scary gargoyles (although they are sometimes present). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_architecture

Yes its not brown, grey, dark and black but that isn't what gothic is, thats what D&D (and Quake 1) stereotyping is, and thats fucking boring.

Saying that gothic architecture is gothic is like saying that an anteater is an ant.

As for the block animation for skeletons. It's nice to know if they're completely blocking or if I need to re-angle myself or get behind them.

I'm actually against the word "block" popping up every time a skeleton, you know, blocks. I can (edit: or rather, should be able to) tell by the skeleton not taking any damage, plus the blocking animation, plus the sound of blocking, thank you very much. It's a pretty trifle matter, anyways.

Uncertified information like... hes posting it in the WoW forums (when he should be posting it here instead -_-) telling people that there won't be PKING anymore and that Gold will be the more valuable. (This is a lot of important information he is leaking)

Posting in the WoW forums is somewhat absurd, why does he do that?
    Anyways, this isn't "information".

He never said there won't be any PKing anymore, he hinted to it, in part by saying that he was against griefing. It's more politically correct, plus he dodges responsibility if things don't go that way. :cute:
As for Gold, again, he made no guarantees, merely stating that he (and others) wanted Gold to be more valuable. See how the staff craftily dodges responsibility for these things? :cute:

But none of us can confirm he is telling the truth until it appears on www.diablo3.com
Um, he made no guarantees. There are no lies in his posts.

His ultimate reason for banning Pking is that he thinks its a waste of time. Games are a waste of time. Entertainment is a waste of time. We're all going to die in the end, does this mean everything is a waste of time? Pking can be fun, and isn't a waste of time in my opinion. I think his reasoning is pretty stupid and there has been a thread going on about it.

    -_-'
He never said that, it seems to me that you're going overboard with inferring his thoughts. :cute:

I like the numbers... looks pretty sweet in my opinion. I really do hope that you can toggle things on or off easily in D3. That way everyone will be happy =D...

But don't you want to know when you are doing a critical hit? For example in D2 LOD, you never knew when your amazon was shooting criticals... I think these floating numbers couldn't be done any better, the color and font are simple and clean.

I think they could've done better. Maybe a critical hit animation or something of the sort.
Well, 'tis a trifle subject, so whatever. :cute:

    TIME IS MONEY, FRIEND.

    No.
    Time = time.
    Money = money.
Time = "the system of those sequential relations that any event has to any other, as past, present, or future; indefinite and continuous duration regarded as that in which events succeed one another."
Money = "any circulating medium of exchange, including coins, paper money, and demand deposits."
"the system of those sequential relations that any event has to any other, as past, present, or future; indefinite and continuous duration regarded as that in which events succeed one another." =/= "any circulating medium of exchange, including coins, paper money, and demand deposits."
    Therefore money =/= time.

Man I always wanted to do that. :cute:

Yes but that was simply what games were like back then, listening to it now it does sound a bit silly, but back when it was released I remember watching it over and over thinking how amazing it looked and how awesome the music was! (still like the music though) The narration wasn't the point however, back then they were aiming for a grim world with the orcs and goblins being an evil force that had to be fought back, even if the in-game graphics were sort of lumpy. That obviously completely changed.

Eh, what probably set me off was Kung-Fu Panda's intro. It was similar to that of WCII's, but it was clear that it was a joke. It didn't sound so superficial, either...

About Bashiok... I have a feeling that he never made it past level 50 in Diablo 2: LoD. I haven't seen all his posts, but I read the PVP one. He talks as if someone can PK him anywhere on the battlefield and kill him... -_- And you're absolutely right about him releasing uncertified information. That really pisses me off too.

    What?
Can you elaborate? I didn't get that "feeling".
    What uncertified information?
I thought he was fine. Not exceptional, but fine.

    Ugh. (spits out blood)
It is exacerbated (tee-hee: exacerbated) that WC is actually a well-known and well-reputed franchise, however.

Equally absurd is the idea that only the developers of D2 can make D3. May very well turn out that D3 is everything D2 should have been, but now 10x better. Nor is there any thought that quite possibly the D2 team could have made a worse clone of D3. Keep in mind that their original work was trashed, and the new team started from scratch. We have know way of knowing just how awfuly they could have made D3.
Sorry, but this is just wrong. The work was not "trashed". It was built upon, revised, edited. They say that they had "rebooted", but I doubt that it meant that they "started from scratch."

warcraft wasn't always embarrassing to look at, though how they went from THIS to THIS
I have no idea.. well actually I kind of do, they found out what appealed to girls and the pokemon crowd and capitalized.

OMFG the narrator of the WCII Intro...

It makes me feel nauseated... in a bad way... :(

that will be just too bad really....by seeing only 1% of the game and you are saying it won't have the feel of diablo?

anyway they won't even care you are just another 1 of their 10+ millions of the fans.

Without out there will still be 10+ millions of diablo fans all over the world to buy their game.

Seeing even just 1% of the game can tell a person a lot.

I can't remember the exact saying, but it was something like...
    One picture.
    Zero Words.
    One Trillion Stories.

    Or whatever.
Edit: To be fair, I do think that it's too early to decide whether or not to purchase the game.

Also, at the second part: Gee, way to make a person feel insignificant.

The "master plan" was to make a game as equally good as what Diablo was.

They forgot they didn't have any money, yet they decided to make an MMO.

MMOs are the most expensive type of game to create, really risky ventures.

What I meant is that I don't think they thought it through that much, thus detracting from the "master plan" feel. Master plans are best saved for world domination and the like. When arguing and disagreeing in a heated manner, logic often drops dead like poop.

Actually HG:L was really promising. The bad thing was it was rushed and shipped in a state I'd dare to call 50% done. Thing is, they REALLY thought that they could do such a project without Blizzard's patting hand on their shoulders (by patting hand and shoulders I mean millions of dollars). Too bad they didn't see the faults of their master plan and flopped.

    Daikatana was never promising.

    "master plan"?
I don't think that it was a master plan at all.
