raekor still the only set for higher rifts.

I got higher with the WW set, as always it is going to be based on RNG and which items drop for you. If fully optimized, the new WW set will get you 4-5 GR levels higher.

What 4 sets bring you in the 45 gr area??

    U can go quake to42-45??

With the new rings (names are slipping my mind atm) I was able to clear GR45 using Leap Quake. I am sure others have gotten higher than that as well. I think people are underestimating the power of the rings and other legendary off slot affixes that have been added.

I used Schaefers for the lighting % as well as lightning % on my bracer, and used CoTA with the lightning coefficient that has them absorb 50% of damage dealt to me. This allowed me to dodge the need for unity.

gotcha, thank you cray and demon for helping me understand the flaw in my logic better.

Worth being noted though, I sort of like the idea of having CC and CD tied to your main stat, opening items up for things such as resource reduction and other rolls. Have no idea how balanced that would be though, think it could possibly make the game a bit trivial. I also know they have been debating having CC and CD tied to level and having a max of 35%/350% when you hit lvl 70. I would be perfectly fine with this as well as it means you are more likely to have an effective ring or ammy rather then requiring it has main stat, CC, CD, and a socket to be BIS or near BIS.

the crit chance/dmg is rolled to your current STR not the STR on the item, hence why the tooltip shows an item (for example a ring with int and a good crit chance/dmg roll) as a DPS increase and say it had better vit and armor it would show an all around green improvement to whatever STR ring i had in the slot at the time. now true using that item i would see a minor drop in +1 STR= +1% dmg and +1% armor but base crit chance and dmg is like +150% dmg. so in this case using an int ring with a good crit roll is a dps improvement, and my opinion is that it shouldnt be. i did use one example of some idiot mixing items(which i thought was ridiculous) but the main point is that i dont think that crit chance and dmg should ever be able to do more damage by itself than an item with main stat is all.

Let me try to clarify a little more for you.

With more CC and CD, you will see more damage on crits, however, if you replace your main stat with CC or CD, you will see a lower damage number, but, you will crit more often or hit harder with your crits, so the game is estimating that you actually proc your crits such as your % suggests. Rule of thumb for every item is Primary>CC=CD>CDR(AS if CDR not needed). This is not exact, but it is a base rule of thumb.

In some instances, if you are running low on CC or CD in other slots such as your gloves (Gotta love RNG) that is when people often drop their primary stat on a ring for the CC or CD in order to maintain a 1:10 ratio. This is typically negated now with paragon levels which allow a much easier path to create that 1:10 ratio. For a target, most people aim for 40% CC and 400% CD, but most usually end up around 38%/380%.

    Quote from Cavar»

Well, on the Tavern Talk yesterday they said the length of a season will depend on their development schedule. In otherwords, if something is taking them a long time to fix/implement, then expect a longer season. If they can complete the dev work early, then expect a short season.

They basically said that seasons won't be a fixed length every time.

While also saying their internal goal is 3-4 months.

They understand patch 2.1.2 and season 2 were a mistake, forced on by whining fans about season 1 being too long. They will not make that mistake again.

I dont want to wait for what...6 months again so that they might finally make barb playable in groups, this is just ridicolus.

I am playing 0dps sader over my fully geared barb, simply because i have to.

It is stupid that we are forced to play the way blizzards wants us to play and not use our own builds!

Even if we use what they expect us to use, we cannot play in groups after G40+, because we get kicked out simply because we are very inneficient at it.

We are glas canons that do shitty dps on top compared to other glas canons.

I personally do not understand this, some of you people need to put the thinking cap on and challenge yourselves. Barbs have, are, and will always be a competitive class. Some of you need to cut the qq and learn to play.

Also worth noting, the nerf to IK was not a nerf, it was intended to make it a competitive set with Raekor while our new WW set shines at the top. Why make a new set if it simply is not going to be good? Reworking a set and having it not be the best is one thing, but adding brand new sets should mean that set gets some time to shine so that many people test it out and give appropriate feedback. Right now Barbs have 4 sets that can get them into the GR45 area, and they have 3 sets they can crack GR50-55 with, and with the new rings and other items, it is very likely the best of the best who actually understand our class find a way to reach GR65 or greater.

I feel my grinding has been for nothing

Thats the main problem with seasons in my opinion.Other than 1-2 new items per class it doesnt add anything new. Each season should bring a unique change to gameplay like leagues does in PoE.

I disagree. The main focus of seasons is for the players (like me) who spend WAY too much time playing and find everything we want in a short amount of time. No the items are completely min-maxed, but playing to find a different ancient version of my weapon with another 23 strength doesn't intrigue me.

But luckily we've got seasons. A fresh start where finding a legendary is exciting no matter what it is. We get to experience what it's like again barely being able to farm T1 at level 70, and the fun of progression as we can bump it up to T3, T5, and then into greater rifts ect. If you want huge gameplay changes to be interested in seasons, then I'm sorry seasons just aren't for you.

This embodies everything that is wrong with the community currently.

Seasons will be tied to patches, and are going to be tied to new content. That was the goal all along, but people whined that season 1 was running to long, so blizz rushed a mediocre patch 2.1.2 instead of just launching their intended 2.1.2 which is our soon to be released 2.2

In the end, fans need to just stfu and enjoy what blizz gives them, you do not pay anything monthly to get this new content. If you want to kill a bunch of monsters and look for that new piece, do it, nothing is stopping you. But if you want to whine and B**** incessantly like immature brats, you are just embarrassing yourselves.

I for one love the idea of new patches coming out every 4-5 months (intended goal) and the new season being attached to that (intended goal). This 4-5 month window is perfect for the grinder, the casual, and the newbie.

Hopefully this doesn't sound like baby rage. QQ

last season they broke leader-boards with a patch 2 weeks prior to season close. this season they broke leader-boards by letting 2 groups use sever and removing it right after for the rest of the community to try. last season they dragged s1 in the mud for about 5 months and this season they don't even give us 1 and 1/2 months. with ancient weapons being so crucial and the amount of rng they cram down our throats you would think they would at least give us the time to grind out our gear before attempting to push leader-boards. idk, i never expect to be rank 1 in anything but i enjoy pushing for top 50. and when i see how poorly blizzard handles the seasonal leader-boards it makes me rethink why i am even bothering... its almost like the leader-board means nothing to them, they just want to roll a dice and see who comes out on top, and they will say "that was cool". but a lot of people out there take the competition of seasons very seriously and spend a lot of time pushing to be the best (and even more people enjoy watching them and encouraging them to keep trying via twitch/youtube)

randomness is fun and all but i think there has to be some sort of consistency here if there is to be any competitive spirit.

season length needs to be consistent please. 3 months would be a perfect time but please give your suggestions on season length. the biggest problem here is last month we had 5 months to gear and a months notice b4 end, this season we had no idea how long it would end and only 2 weeks notice. no one was ready and now everyone will be scrambling to post their clears. give us notice at the beginning of the season please

IF you ARE going to make seasons short from now on than you at least need to remove the rng and importance of ancient weapons somehow. this can be done in multiple ways. don't let the damage range on weapons be affected by ancient roll. allow a way (that involved grinding with NO rng involved) to upgrade a non ancient weapon into an ancient weapon. you could even allow ALL stats on ALL gear to roll 30% higher, so at least someone with an ancient ammy can compete with someone who has an ancient weapon. (i think option one is best) (also i got my ancient weapons, I'm not crying cuz i didn't get them I'm crying because it doesn't make sense)

stop changing things in the middle of a season! if you mess up and allow something broken to slip into a season than you should bite the bullet and let it play out! let everyone use it and attempt to post ranks, or let no one use it and removes ranks posted with it.... there should be no in between, wtf? isn't that common sense?

just to clarify, i LOVE diablo, i have been playing d3 since vanilla launch and never put it down for more than 1month at a time. I also played d2 for over 10 years before that! I'm going to play season 3 no matter how bad it is. i don't want to just post blind rage on forums, i want the game to be better. and it has the potential, my thought is - if enough people like me post this stuff to show blizzard the potential than maybe one day they will live up to it.

i would like to hear everyone's thoughts on this that's why i'm posting my QQ.

I understand all of this, but what every seems to be missing is that season 2 was a mistake, lead on by the fans and their QQ for a new season. Blizz wanted to wait until patch 2.2 to launch Season 2, but everyone kept on whining non stop that they wanted a new season, so be happy you got your wish, and now let them run their game.

also, another comparison would be that blood thiefs drop about 250ish shards, so im basically guaranteeing myself a blood thief (plus the tiny amounts of bonus gold and exp from closing) for that 1 minute downtime

This is false, goblin packs have spawn rates, therefore you at least need to clear the current level you are on to ensure you are not missing your spawn. If simply going to a new floor, you are correct, but the proper method is to at least clear the floor you are on as spawns have already been applied, and it would hurt to miss out on your chance.

this has nothing to do with being pro, its common sense at this point, and its almost like a joke question

Common sense is something taught, not innate (especially in a video game).

You learned your Diablo 3 common sense by playing a lot of Diablo 3 or reading, researching, and asking questions, so why is it an issue if our OP is doing the same thing now? What if the OP is new to D3 with maybe 2-3 months of experience only. He may not understand that you want to base your damage off of elites as that triggers onto the Rift Guardians, meaning that the SoJ actually gives him a near 38% boost should he decided to go with a physical build.

Word of advice, stop being a rude, and put yourself in the shoes of the OP. Not everyone is a seasoned pro with Hundreds of hours of game play and research behind them. In fact, you should feel honored that someone is willing to come to this site, a website you use to post something, and ask questions regarding the game. Instead you troll around and waste a solid opportunity.

Too bad about the 5% default crit. Maybe they should make this more interesting by changing it to

"After 5 consecutive non-critical hits, your chance to critically hit is increased to 100% for [VALUE] seconds. Decreases critical hit chance by 5%"

Then were talking! would be something fun to try out. you could then focus your items to other stats like elemental damage, Toughness, cool-down etc. I'm sure blizzard doesn't want to make it too powerful so they would have to work it out so that after tuning your build, your average CHC over time would be say 55-65 Max?, so that would be the 100% chances, up-time.

boring. they could just implement an item that gives you 100% crit chance all the time.

Why would they do that? No offense but your comment makes me believe you love free handouts.

The way the ring is implemented it makes you at least put some effort into tooling your gear properly, which is the point of a hack and slash rng gear grinding game btw.
