posted a message on how about friends trading?
    Quote from Bagstone»

    Let me picture this:

Many of my friends (on my f-list since day 1 since we played together since the 90s) haven't played Season 8. Now imagine I invite them to S8, and play with them. Since I have no use for many of my gear anymore after doing Years of War/Masters of the Universe, I can just give them a ton of great loot, including well-rolled ancient items. They log in, get powerleveled to 70, get fully equipped and can faceroll Torment 11+. 15 minutes are logging in. They have all the gear, no need for Haedrig's Gift, no intention to do the Season Journey (otherwise they would've played before) - so what are they playing for?

Diablo is a loot-based game. If you give your friends all the loot, you're removing the sole purpose for them to play. (Unless they're the one in a million who like to grind paragon).

And of course the illegal 3rd party websites will find a way to exploit this as well, as others have mentioned. Thankfully, trading is not coming back. And it's good that way. You want loot? Slay monsters. That's it. There's no shortcut to get it from your friends. You want to give your loot to your friends? Well, group with them. Otherwise it's good that you can't give it to them; you'd lessen their game experience.

I know that people like trading, but please think about it: as good as it sounds, it's just bad in so many ways from every single perspective. I'd love to see the 2 hour window being extended to 5 or 10 (or at least for as long as you're in a game with someone), but beyond that - please no trading. It made D3 a better game.

    Exactly!

Why is it not good enough to just power them through some T10-T13 rifts based on your power and give them the gear that way, something you did TOGETHER.

I want my desert before dinner and I plan on eating it TOO!!!!

    Come on people.

Why can't people just accept that you can trade with your friends. It just needs to be in games played together!

Others have said it, but if you open up trading, then China bots will just flood the game selling everything through spam in trade chat. NO THANK YOU!

    For me:

    1 - Loot

    2 - Dark atmosphere

3 - The Grind (which for me is tied to loot)

4 - Did I mention loot yet? I just want more of it! More unique versions of it! MORE MORE MORE!!!!!!

    posted a message on I think I enjoyed D2 more than 3

I think D2 was great for its time, but in the end, that is it for me.

D3 has much more to offer, and if D3 came out when D2 did, you would all still be shitting your pants at how good the game is, just like you are with D2 now.

We are in the era of Nostalgia, no new rendition of a game is good anymore. Every new game that had an original in the 1995-2005 range is being shit on by this Nostalgia society, and it is truly a shame. Especially when the real issue is the lack of ability to get into something new, the inability to accept change. People now just want what they used to have, because they were younger then, felt better then, and experienced something on a grand scale for the first time.

Attitudes like this are really hurting the gaming industry.

    Patch goes live January 3.

    Season 9 starts January 6.

blue confirmed or just what u Think?
When they cut season 7 short, it pretty much confirmed they were going to cut season 8 short. When you look at them saying they want to have the anniversary event live beginning of January, these dates all line up.

Not blue confirmed, but common sense confirmed!

The game is going in a much different direction than that, has been for awhile. Not really a good thing either.

That being said, a lot of the complaints about this game are just that, subjective insulting complaints rather than actual solutions. IE Make D3 like D2 is not a solution, that is a fanboy complaint from someone who likes D2, so go play D2!

D3 certainly needs an overhaul in the balance department. They lost themselves when they changed balance points. My estimate is that the balance point was T10, but then became T13 recently (well before T13 even released) as they knew it was coming out later. This left certain builds well in the dust. And now they really need to figure out a univeral balance point for power purposes, and fine tune the sets to this.

It really should not be that hard, but how do you pitch that to the people who give you your resources? Not easily thats for sure, but hopefully this massive outcry will play a large role in getting us all a few changes that we have asked for for the good of the community!

I believe the "packs" are the future of the game until the next iteration of the franchise comes. They're moving out of the large expansions market and going the way of the dlc, something similar to the SC2 Nova missions. I expect no more large "buy a box" expansions, but i'm not ruling out the small possibility of one.

I expect the Druid to be the next pack, or possibly an Act 6 Skovos pack.

I think the Druid will come with an Act 6 Skovos pack tbh.

So, I know that this is rather improbable, but what about a support class that's main damage dealer isn't even his own ability, but buffs and perks he can grant an NPC companion? Think a character a lot like Decard Cain who does a limited amount of damage, but can "train" or "advise" an NPC companion to develop skills with weapons or attack stiles, and uses a Wisdom recourse to give some permanent, semi-permanent, or temporary buffs. This would result in a) players actually acknowledging their companion's existence B) having a class that mandates the synchronization of two sets of gear (yours and the NPC's) and c) having a class that micromanagement buffs (like myself) can explore a lot of cool options with. Again, not a class that's at all in the realm of probability, nor one that everyone would enjoy a whole lot, but I thought I'd at least float the idea.

I like this idea, but this also gets me back on the topic that I would love it if our followers would be reworked a little or made more important.

Back to your post, how would you differentiate this between a class like WD or Necro? Would you recommend that this class actually be able to use ALL THREE followers when in the field? That could be unique!

posted a message on Sets That Need Balancing!

I feel that every set is balanced, per se, according to power of the sets. But IK and Akkhans really need a rework to allow them to be more unique/stand alone.

I would also approve of Zuni focusing on more of the skills that Helltooth does not, such as Big Bad Voodoo along with the fetishes. Not sure what atm, but have been thinking about how to incorporated Big Bad Voodoo into the set bonus.

I feel that Shadow, Waste, Nats, and Vyr's are simply a supportive item away from being very competitive, and thus I would not really do much other than look to add that item to the game.

Many people can take each of those 4 sets into the GR 80 range, some have even taken Vyr's, Shadow, and Waste to GR 90 in Era. With the new Hellcat Wasteguard, I think the DH will see a major bump in power for both Nats and Shadow. The grenades from that belt do a ton of damage, and are simply part of many of the skills you can use. I also think that the overpower saffron belt for Barb could put Waste back on the map for most players as well.

That leaves Vyr's, and I am not sure if the new manald heal can really do anything to bring that build up, but it is certainly possible to run a lightning archon build so maybe it will! Thats what PTR is for boys, working on collecting everything needed atm, and will be testing away to give as much feedback as possible.

ESPECIALLY SINCE I SUGGESTED SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR TO HELLCAT WASTEGUARD FOR DH BACK IN PATCH 2.4.1 SO THEY ABSOLUTELY HEAR YOU WHEN YOU POST SUGGESTIONS.

More things will not come. PTR is to test the new stuff, not to add the new stuff.

They said there is a few potential tweaks left to put into the dungeon, such as more skulls, things to make it look more dark, etc....

Also, PTR's always have new things put into them through the process, if you look at the PTR strings, there is mention of 5-8 features that are currently not in the patch notes even.

posted a message on Future Character Packs

I think we are going to get 3 packs total.

Necro being the int, Druid being the dexterity, and then my personal favorite is a Lancer/Dragoon which would be a strength class.

If you remember back in Vanilla, one of the best Barb builds was simply using Frenzy with a Spear and Shield, because the spear had the fastest attack speed. Having a class centered around this playstyle of insanley fast mid range melee attacks, with several unique air based attacks similar to a dragoon would be pretty sweet! Something where you leap through the air to a spot, while spitting out fire around you, basically like a flaming torpedo.

Uniquely, as others have brought up, there are two dragons of lore in the D3 story. One was Tathamet, and the other was a dragon under the control of the Necromancer. So having the Necromancer free the essence of the dragon forming a Dragoon class could be viable for the inception of the class.

    Quote from lxxcurse»

Did I miss something? When did Arachyr's become a good set?

I guess you could clear T13 with it, but not particularly efficiently since the set is at such odds and ends with its skills and required items. And casting Haunt w/ Locust on everything and then Firebatting it isn't exactly what I would call an efficient set design, esp when most of the skills on the set are completely worthless :/

The problem with Zuni as others have said is that it's a worse Helltooth. The problem with WDs is that aside from Jade, everything is worse than HT garg. All the other HT spells are so weak in comparison that there is no real point casting them (for damage.) Unlike Zuni, you don't need to hit anything with your WoD, just aim it wherever every so often. Its chicken spec is more efficient than the actual chicken set, Arachyr.

    Suggestions:

-Murder the Garg Humongoid rune in some way and then it'll be okay to buff everything else across the board to match other class levels (probably avoiding Haunt in some way.)

-Take Pet damage off Zuni and make it when you hit an enemy with x (dart grasp or something idk) Grasp and Fetish damage is increased for x. (not that target takes more.)

-Do something to give Arachyr an identity. Make it able to use firebats without either foregoing the staff or an offhand. Make the spider useful. It is a controllable pet!! What WDs have screamed for. I want a spider locust build!

While not as broken as the other class' sets, I think the key problem is that Jade aside, HT basically steals what the other sets are meant to do. It's better at pets than Zuni. It's better at speed chicken than Arachyr. They really need to have less overlap on skills going on there.

I don't play other classes as much but the obvious ones would be Akkhan's, Roland's, IK (not as part of Raekor) WW, ahaha Vyr oh dear. Wiz seems like a huge mess these days.

    Yeah you missed something.

Arachyr Firebats was a GR90+ build last season. Obviously paragon played a large role, but the build is insanely strong both offensively and defensively once you get all the items.

I am actually fine casting haunt several times, charging into the center of the groups which also applies locust automatically, and then dancing creating firebats around me! Sort of a unique playstyle.

IK and Akkhan are the only two sets that have no real viable build beyond a GR 60-65. Akkhan thorns can, but it shouldnt because that is the purpose of LoN and Voker. I am okay with Roland and Wastes, and Vyr is one of the top sets for Wiz solo. A few legendary item tweaks would have those sets as a top set.

So all WD sets are perfectly good... interesting. Don't think I've ever seen anyone run Zuni, like ever.

And I guess most monk sets work good as they are, but Uliana could realy need a fix to it's 2 set tbh since it don't work with either area dmg or mythic rythm :/

I know tons of WD players that can take Zuni into the 83-88 range. I have gotten it to 82 without doing a ton of min/max on my gear or very high augments.

Regarding Uliana, I like that it is a set that does not rely on massive density to slowly widdle foes down personally, but I get where the suggestion would be warranted.

Zuni's problem isn't dmg, since they have buffed that several times. It's the way it's played. Compared to how HT plays zuni is just not worth using sadly. Zuni was the pet set before, but HT have taken that roll. While Zuni got left behind, and it kinda need a rework imo
It could use a rework for sure, but does not need a buff.

Zuni could keep a lot of what it has, but have more emphasis on the Voodoo side of the WD. Jade sort of does this, but not really with locust and haunt paired with soul harvest being the primary.

Zuni could still be fetishes, hex, etc.... and a tuning to dagger of darts to give it that voodoo dart spitting feel again. Instead of having you apply a spender on a target, just have the damage scale based on fetishes on the field. You will need to use a few spenders to get them out, but applying a few stacks of haunt to get a 20% damage buff is optimal anyways. And as someone said, if you make the set power your skills as well as your pet skills, then you do more damage as well, really helping it feel more unique.

For defense, the set could have some sort of modifier like Swampland Attunement, in that each enemy hit with a poison dart gives you a certain amount of Damage reduction for 9 seconds, functioning like the Ancient Parthanons.

Just some basic off the top of my head ideas, but I do agree, a rework would be nice, focusing on other elements of the class other than Garg damage.
