See my only caveat to having the expansion is they're moving people off the team but simultaneously adding new ones back? IT doesn't make sense. Why not just keep the people on the team if you're planning the next game? Why move people and get new ones? New type of game possibly? Maybe a Diablo Fighter ALA MK/SV, or maybe they're moving in another direction with the franchise but I really don't see how? They could pull the other worlds into the game but You'd still have to have that dark evil tone that Diablo is known for otherwise it just won't be a Diablo game anymore. I'm just really confused as to their whole moving people then rehiring.

So guys any thoughts/predictions on what we might see? Last year and the year before( I went) were totally abysmal in news relating to Diablo, but... It has been said that this year we may have something to be excited about. All the news concerning the Dev team has me worried though. If they've got a D3X2 in the pipeline for around next year or the year after (Assuming an announcement at Blizzcon) then why move people off the team, and then turn around and hire new people for similar positions? Doubt D4 will be announced but the whole scheme behind moving people around and hiring new ones has me worried that maybe D3X2 isn't happening, so I don't see what could be so exciting for Diablo fans at this Blizzcon. If you were lucky enough to get tickets let us know too (I tried painfully failing).

You have no understanding of how a DDoS works then. DDoS has nothing to do with security. It has to do with server infrastructure. All they are doing is sending so many requests to get into their servers that they are effectively shutting down their servers by overloading them (think Error 37). You can literally buy this service on the cheap. Some assholes are just doing this for shits and giggles. Fucking losers will be fucking losers.

Pretty much, They missed a huge opportunity with the legendary gems. They refuse to put in any real game changers instead opting for a very 'dudebro' approach of buff this damage, and make this do more damage, and here's more damage for everyone. It's so sickening too. I want some of these underused skills to be at least on par with the ones that have such great synergies with sets, but they're refusing to do a damn thing about it. It's going to take months for them to properly add in the new legendaries, and balance them out. Might even take years. I just hope they realize they haven't really helped anything at all but instead just secluded many more builds into the ones the sets now synergize with. It's so pathetic that only 1-2 sets/skill combos per class can run T6. Where's the variety?

Yeah remember in the 1.0 days when it was either you had a skorns or echoing fury? not fun but it doesn't mean that 2Handers were anywhere near viable. Honestly its pretty sad it took this long to get around to it. And it's sadder that they still haven't really changed the gem problem.

Or the fact that every legendary gem is a fuckin damage boost and nothing particularly fun or interesting to play with. That's my sole problem with this game, it's all about damage and modifier for damage, here's damage there's damage fuck it i'll give you millions of damage... Enough with the damage please give us some god damned build diversity, how about items that change skills and the way they work? So many ideas are being dumped for "do X% more damage" because it's what attracts attention.

    Quote from Helycon

You stated it created an iilusory choice. This to me means you don't think it's a choice and you HAVE to use it, even if it means you don't like it. There's my exact point. You still don't have to use it, even if it means you're less efficient. THAT is the choice people will need to make for themselves. Are you going to be efficient and use something you dislike? Or are you going to chose the spec and gearing you enjoy and be less efficient but enjoy the time you spend?

Still, it seems we both want choice, so I'm no longer completely sure what we're discussing ;) . In any way, I hope they make the gems the same way they make the build changing legendaries: If they do something you dislike, you can chose to ignore it until you find one you DO like.
Well it does create an illusory choice, the point is you think you have a choice in how to farm efficiently at T6 but in reality you don't. you either play the way thats super op or you don't farm T6. I don't know why it's like this, I don't see why all skills can't be viable endgame skills. I mean I'd love to use my pretty well rounded build on T5-T6, but I doubt it. So hopefully they correct some of that with these gems, so we can choose which skills we want and still be pretty viable endgame. Of course there's restricitons on what should be viable... 1 generator and 5 armors doesn't make a good viable endgame build. But something along the lines of Generator/spender/situational/defense/buff or generator/spender/defense/defense/buff, some slight variations can occur, should be viable in endgame no matter what class or skills you are using, granted you spec with right elements and add elemental damage and whatnot to your build.

Still, if they augment a single skill, people will probably farm until they find the one they want. If you don't enjoy using a skill, then don't use it. Some people need to get off their high-horse of 'I will play as efficiently as possible even if I hate the way I need to play it'. You need to play a spec you enjoy, even if this means you take a bit of a difficulty hit. I can't play T6. I'm not sad. I can very much enjoy the game still. I won't be burned out quickly, since I feel the game is still fun for me, in stead of playing a spec I loathe. Stop feeling forced to do something you're not forced to do.
    1) I'm not saying you have to. I never said I had to, or you had to or anyone else has to. What's wrong with some choice? Are you against the freedom to choose whatever you like?

    2) I'm confused... This is EXACTLY WHAT i'M AGAINST. You're not making much sense here. I'm completely against playing a way I hate to play. Which is what I'm saying. Why not just change up skills to make them appealing, but if you don't like them it doesn't do anything to you. Understand? So with my example for SB, there's 0 help if you use it or if you don't. It just depends on your personal preference. You can use SB, you can not use SB, you can use SB and forgo the gem which is also fine and doesn't do anything to you. Which is why I want it that way, it's overall better and provides actual choice of what you want to do.

To your last point, no they aren't worthless at all. You're looking at it the wrong way! Come on people THINK! If you find a WoW, do you say fuck it, or do you say hey maybe i might be interested in using Explosive Blast.

If you found a gem, that is unique equipped( only 1 allowed) and it could only be used in a WoW/ or maybe in depth diggers, and it's affix was Spectral blades is now cast 30 yards further away from you, would you maybe think about using Spectral Blade? Maybe you'd start using spectral blade over electrocute, or magic missile because now you have a new ranged skill to work with, or maybe you don't because Spectral Blade doesn't appeal to you, or maybe the 280 int you could get on that Depth Diggers is more valuable to you, both defensively and offensively. The gem doesn't overpower anything, all it does is change how the skill works, which gets you to think about using it. There should be a gem as simple as this FOR EVERY SKILL! it doesn't take much to change a skill and redo what it does . It would open up some options, and it's an actual choice, you aren't forced to do it. You can CHOOSE TO DO IT. If the legendary powers are as op as some of the current ones, it's not a choice, its an illusory choice. You don't really have an option you are forced because its the best and if you don't do it you can forget farming T6... This to me isn't fun. If we could move away from damage affixes and focus on mechanic changing affixes I would be much happier overall with this game. There's other things that still need to be done to make it a perfect game but i feel like they wasted an opportunity here, and i'm worried they might just make more overpowered slots on rings and ammies. :( we will see though, I reserve my judgement until then, but I'm definitely voicing some concern here.

See I think something like WoW is much better than TF, in terms of powerful but mechanic changing. I prefer the gems to be more like WoW, or SS, or Magistr8, or MB. They add something to a skill that in turn makes it more powerful, but not necessarily. I still prefer pure mechanic changers, as i've posted here previously, but a WoW or SS type gem would be fine with me. TF on the other hand doesn't change mechanics, it doesn't change skills, it just makes you deal lightning damage in huge chunks and that in turn slows them down and reduce attack speed by a pretty big margin enabling you to get some defense from the offense. It's too much. There no reason that lightning people Don't use it unless you rely on a different legendary mechanic in your weapon slot. There are certainly things they've done right, and there are certainly things I like to think they've done wrong. Here's to hoping they do this right and don't make everything so over powered that its a bad decision if you don't use this gem or that gem.

I have to disagree, sure they buffed healing and dex, but that's because they HAD TO! Look at healing... All your healing bonus is from a random chance that a health globe drops and that you reach that health globe in time. So they're just switching that focus, and making life on hit and life regen more prevalent by upping their values. same with DEx, it isn't really useful at all as of now, res all and armor are way more useful, so they're switching how it works so that you can actually stack dex + your desired stats, instead of requiring life armor and all res. And bagstone please come on. You seriously mean to tell me that this dev team isn't power hungry. Look at more than half of the affixes that are on legendary items. Theyt're retardedly damage heavy. SoH? BoP? TF? TMF? RoRG? They all lead to straight up damage boosts. That isn't to say there won't be nice build changers, like SS and Magistr8, but they're not exactly abundant, and they are far outclassed by the damage boosting ones, which makes them near useless and completely inferior. Which in turns degrades how i preform on higher difficulties. I Know these "Legendary gems" will for the most part be okay and the rest are going to be op power gems that just boost your damage insanely, whether its you can proc mortar shots for 500% damage, or you throw hammers of justice at nearby enemies, the point is they increase your damage output considerably and I am losing faith in the dev team that they can understand how to change mechanics and not just add damage to the game.

There is 0 incentive to play seasons unless you want the season-only legendaries, and you don't mind fresh starts. Other than that seasons are pretty much pointless. I'm 100% against gimping player for however long a season is and knowing blizzard, these seasons may last 3+ months, possibly much longer (SCII I'm looking at you!). Other than the season only legendaries there really is only the incentive of competitive leader-boarding. Who's faster, who's quicker, who had the highest plvl at the end. Who killed who first, who got more achievements. Stuff like that. to me I don't really care for any of it, so i just play my non-season mode, I'm just pissed that I can't access the legendaries that i know are going to be ridiculously op for a few months, hopefully seasons only last a month at most, possibly only 2 weeks.

Shaggy I have to disagree with you here, I think limiting them to Rings and Ammy's is a horrible Idea. Draco is right, These "legendary gems" Are most likely going to be damage and ability boosters, cause' we all know that is all the d3 dev team seems to care about... that means that it won't be a choice anymore, you're going to let one of those standard amy, or ring affixes go. IT doesn't matter which you'll have to decide which is better for you to let go but one of them will go. You won't care for all of them anymore. You'd only concern yourself with a socket + whatever else you want. I think it's the wrong move on Blizzard's part, they seriously missed an opportunity to create some serious endgame content with this addition.

Legendary gems first and foremost should only be usable on a legendary item. Honestly it makes no sense to use a legendary amulet anymore, just get the 6 affix rare and craft the shit out of it till you get the perfect rolls. Rings are slightly different, because almost everyone needs specific legendary rings, RoRG/ Soj / TMF and such. Second they should be specific to legendary items, i.e vy'rs stone only usable in vyr's items, innas stone only usable in inna's items stuff like that. On top of all of this they should not in anyway increase your damage output by any percentage or number by any means AT ALL! God damn it. Why does everything have to be gives 50% more damage, or gives 50% more crit damage. Fuck it CHANGE THE MECHANICS! that gives CHOICE, damage boosters DO NOT GIVE CHOICE, THEY JUST PROVIDE YOU WITH THE NEW BEST WAY! at least with mechanic changers you can opt in or out without a shred of damage being taken away or given to you. It would actually make you think about which style you want to play.

Something like this -> "Affix: Spectral blades is now cast 30 yards further away from you." is better than something like this -> "Affix: 30% increased damage against elites." the first one actually makes spectral blades useful in long range builds, and could possibly make you switch from something like magic missile, or charged bolt or electrocute to spectral blades, or maybe it changes the the rune of spectral blades you're using from thrown blades to siphoning blades, or maybe it doesn't appeal to you because you don't like being ranged, or you'd rather stick with magic missile over that spectral blades. It took me roughly 30 seconds to think of something as simple as this that can provide a lot more freedom of choice and expression of your character than the D3 dev team will probably come up with in the countless hours they spent making their legendary gems idea come to fruition. It honestly saddens me too, because this was such a wasted opportunity. They could've had legendary gems droppable from ubers too to give them some meaning, and they could've made it a quest to find these cool valuable items that may or may not influence the way you play.
