I'm stoked though, I've been waiting for this and just to be able to travel, see new things(never been to California), and be one of the few to see the new Diablo 3 stuff live would be awesome.
Fun Fact: I might bring my mommy if she's willing to pay for some of it
you kidding me? Whats your major.... art or something??
First off, i don't pay for my own music, or my own movies. 40 dollars is way steep, and people are right, why pay for something when you can get it for free. THere will be tons of online gaming magazines with video's and writeups. 40 dollars is def not worth it.

that has to be a joke.... I've never heard of it, and from the looks of it, i'm kinda beyond side scrollers of the 90's....

i hope that the archivist isn't really a playable class.... or maybe have it as a class u can play after beating the game whose sole purpose is to learn more of an underlying story in diablo.
I dunno man i'm still confused... they can't be serious....

a 40 dollar game has provided me entertainment for years...... i'll be dammed if i have to pay 15 bucks a month for it...
oh, and the diablo universe is not the warcraft universe. So i hope they take that into consideration when designing the art.
I hate anime because its big, flashy, and obnoxious. So far some a bunch of the art leans in that direction, but i hope they fix that.

I noticed that the only people that don't mind the diablo 2 mf concept are the serious gamers who devote upwards of 20 hours per week on the game. In all honesty, i never thought much of it.... untill i picked up diablo 1 again a few months ago, and realised how much of a hinderance the mf in d2 was.
I read a recent statistical report on gaming somewhere and noted that the "hardcore gamers", those that spend 20+ hrs a week gaming, only make up around 40% of diablo/wc3 online gameplay. The rest of the population play 0-5 hours a week, 5-10, or 10-15 hours a week.
For the other 60%, the replay value of d2 suffered. Aside from trying out new characters, it wasn't too common to have them try very many skill sets.

I think Magic Find was rather detrimental to the long term replay value of d2.
Also this poster brings up a good point too
In my opinion, the "item hunt" style of gameplay that diablo 2 seemed to gravitate to kinda ruined the long term fun of the game. I still have tons of fun starting new characters in D1 and playing it all through.
When i get the urge to start new chars in d2, i think of the huge hassle it will be just to be able to obtain decent items....
So thinking objectively...
13 years later, and i still enjoy playing d1 just as much when i was 10 yrs old.
A few years after release, and i'm quite bored of d2.

I would just do a female because i'm sexually attracted to them. No reason other than that. Nothing better than a sexy animated character to gawk at. EDIT: UNless its a real female.

Recently i started playing d1 again. In d1, there is no magic find. In d2, they introduced magic find. I liked the absence of +mf modifiers in d1 because it meant that you could potentially find EVERYTHING. In the few weeks i've been playing d1 again, i've already found a small amount of rare items, including a windforce!!
In diablo 2, they introduced magic find, and even with a mf dedicated character, finding the most godly items in the game can be almost impossible (without the use of bots).
My diablo 2 experience is mainly before duping existed (v1.08). Before duping, even items that weren't so "godly" could be hard to find or expensive to trade for. After duping, good items became almost abundant. People that have only played v1.09 and later probably won't understand where i'm coming from. The introduction of duping really changed the way the game felt/played.
In summary, i liked the absence of magic find in D1 because finding good items, although difficult, seemed tangible. In D2, it seemed like finding the items you want was always out of reach, no matter how good your MF character was. D1 just seemed so much more satisfying in that aspect.
What do you guys think?
Oh, and i understand that having something such as magic find can increase the variety of character builds and slightly increase the replay value. But all i ask is that they make finding rare items a bit less out of reach, which was the overall feeling in to D2
This is also a very good description of how i feel.
