What the did was take Vista and strip it down to that absolute bare necessities. From there on, it was a from the ground up process. I think Win7 will actually be one of the first Windows OSes to be taken seriously at launch.

Exactly. But those 'bare necessities' are essentially the same ones from vista(most likely tweaked and fixed up). Having switched to vista, then back to XP PRO, I am actually interested in what Win7 will be able to do. By then there should be significantly less driver problems too.

Its not like having 500%(outlandishly high) better chance to find mana orbs is going to be silly overpowered. That is improvement from say 10% -> 50%. In return, you have to give up whatever health/resists/defense/IAS/FCR/etc that you could otherwise have gotten from your items. Eventually you will run into a ceiling where you can't kill the enemies anymore because you rely on killing crowds to survive.

My source . This confirms what I read a few weeks ago.

While windows 7 doesn't undo these architectural changes—they were essential for the long-term health of the platform—it equally hasn't made any more. Any hardware or software that works with Windows Vista should also work correctly with Windows 7, so unlike the transition from XP to Vista, the transition from Vista to 7 won't show any regressions; nothing that used to work will stop working.

Only the graphical qualities are similar. Microsoft had said that the coding has been redone to essentially be problem-free.

They also said that everything that works under vista will continue to work under 7. No stepping backwards, just a tighter, bug free, more streamlined version of the same essential core, with a few extra features/UI. Granted I read that a while ago, but I would hope they didn't go back on that, it was one of the bigger reasons that it might get support from corporate IT departments.

I was under the impression that windows 7 was essentially going to be an updated version of vista.

There is a reason that ALL workstations in my college's engineering department (which are replaced every 3 months with new, top-of-the-line systems) are all XP pro SP2.

It is the most stable version of windows we have.

Vista will get there eventually. I give it another year or two before it is strictly better than XP.

Maybe Diablo 3 gives us new runes for you to use once it gets released? I gave up after about 20 minutes when I tried to make runes with pentool.

There are so many bad Tyrael drawings out there that something this excellent should be praised. Great work, OP.

Maybe put some texture behind them.

Your eye fights between trying to focus on the characters and trying to focus on the logo. All the lines in the background draw your eye up to the middle, and it draws your attention away from the real focus; the characters.

At they very least, make the logo significantly smaller.

Imagine what you could do with high contrast, low opacity layers of scenery taken from the concept art. I would add some thing that angles downward from the top corners and draws your eye to the characters (maybe they will have to shrink a little, not a big loss since they will look better smaller, with the polygons being less noticeable).

I'll throw together a basic mockup of something here in a second.

    Here

Obviously the red is where your cutouts go. Add some glow to them. Drop a texture under their feet also.

That is just really general outline of something I would do. (I didn't want to actually follow through and put in real images - this is your idea/wallpaper, I don't want to make it since its yours, hence the stand ins and poor logo drawing). I just threw in the first concept art I came to that looked both big and dark.

Then again, I tend to 'go big or go home' with sigs/wallpaper. My current sig is something like 29 layers.

The most powerful character I ever made was a Nova Sorceress, A few bugged items and lots of Pindleskin runs later, I could cast more than one nova per frame at level 98. The faster cast rate (based on character level) that existed for only a short time before they patched it and got rid of it gave more FCR than should have been remotely legal.

The damage output was nothing short of spectacular.

    15 years after the events of Diablo 3, in the ruined and war-torn remains of Sanctuary;

An adventurer sets out to save his hometown from marauding bandits, and after a sudden but expected plot twist, finds that a evil sorcerer is trying to bring back the Prime Evils, as act IV ends, you kill him off, but not before he brings Diablo back from the dead, stronger than ever.

It can't be called "Diablo #" if Diablo doesn't feature in it, right?

I was a bit miffed about them not mentioning Tassadar's sacrifice at the end of StarCraft. I haven't seen it in years and I can still remember it in great detail.

posted a message on The Tristram Cathedral: How? Why? What?
The D2 Tristram was rather disappointing. I was hoping to stumble upon Leoric again or something.

Also, D2 was full of 'impossible to jump over' stone fences. I assumed the cathedral was just out of vision. Sad that such an important part of the first game doesn't even make an appearance in the second when it revisits the same town.
