Bows and crossbows will probably go hand in hand like in D2

i hope not, they're kind of... not the same.
I always thought it was wierd being able to use both in D2... I understand the reasoning behind it, but, logically,
    ???

...it would be cool if the ranged class could use both/either, but in different skill trees.
actually, no it wouldn't. I'm hoping for one or the other.

I think I have mentioned this before, but I'd like to see a Crossbowman: slower, but heavier damage than a regular archer, with aura's and melee/passive skills.

Also, and I mention this just because the tag for this thread is 'no pirates in diablo iii', the Pirate!

haha, but really, you could have a cool pirate-esque character like Meshif in D2. I really see potential in such an idea, and not in an OMG-y'all,-they's-gots-blunderbuss's-and-parrots-and-they-breath-fire-after-drinkin-rum (although that would be awesome too ;) ) kind of way.

    Quote from "PhrozenDragon" »
The investment would always have to be balanced to the reward.

Either you pay a relatively cheap sum for a small chance of getting a good item, or you pay a large sum for a bigger chance. If the price becomes too high, gold won't be spent on it (provided that the D3 economy turns out to be stable).

Exactly what I meant to say, but somewhat more eloquent.

And what do you think of the idea of being able to pay more of less for an item, the more you put in the better chance you have of getting something good (up to a maximum of course, to stop hoarding to get a 100% chance)?

Good call. But if gold is too rare, then people would probably refrain from gambling at all.
If they did implement such a thing (which I really hope they do... mmm... rune gambling... mmm... unique gamling) then I would hope that there was a fairly high chance of getting rares (high as in more than .0003% chance)

Well, they're fun to listen to, but you'll find out quickly enough if you lurk around here anyways.
Bashiok said it would be mostly D3 too... he wouldn't lie to me, would he? *pout*
    ...
"Whats the next class?!" You'll find out soon enough.

But soon enough isn't soon e-nough!

posted a message on Elemental Archer
    Quote from "italofoca" »

And i liked the idea... but we already have the wiz, wich is enogh elemental / arcane character imo.

Understood. I liked my idea though, mostly because the wizard is more arcane/storm based, and I expect to control other elements too...

hahaha, it IS just like a mercenary from act 1, I never even thought of that.

Also I want to summon things with more than one class. The Witch Doctor is too meat-shield-summoner-y. I think the archer class is the perfect one to be a real summoner, and I don't want a ranger-type-deal, where you're summoning the same things as the druid.

posted a message on Elemental Archer
I'm bored, and feel like speculating. Therefore I present to ye, my awesome hypothesis:
    The Elemental Archer.
That's right folks, archer meets D2 sorceress. With command of the elements, he imbues his arrows with the obvious elements to do damage. But rather than the offensive element attacks of the sorceress, he would focus on defensive spells/enhancing his bow

He would have such skills as:

the more obvious Fire Arrow, Ice Arrow, etc...

Earthen Circle: creates an expanding ring of earth around the archer which knocks back and damages enemies (and knocks back projectiles?), while halting a few feet away as a wall through which he can fire, but enemies must destroy to reach him
Favorable Winds: passive, allows the caster to affect the path of his arrow, raising chance to hit
    but my favorite idea:
Augment Elements: Cast on an enemy already suffering elemental damage (ie: is on fire; is slowed by cold), the Archer enhances the effect, causing great damage and augmenting the effect (ie: fire grows, does damage, and spreads enemies; cold freezes in place, and does ridiculous damage and causing the monster to shatter if it dies)
Cloak of Air: The Archer becomes one with the wind, raising chance to dodge all attacks

Ooh! and maybe he could summon elemental quivers, instead of always having to go back to town to buy arrows: instead of the obvious "ice arrow" bleh, he'd summon arrows which he could use

Moreover, this class idea allows the Archer to summon Elementals and/or Golems. mmm... Golems...

I'm sure I could think of more, but... yeah... no. What do y'all think? I sure hope I'm on to something here.

posted a message on Should Blizz Bring Back The Ability To Name Item's In D3?
    Quote from "kefka666333abc123" »
...if we can get the option to unname something would be a nice addition to this feature :P

agreed, but I think that to name an item, it would have to come from a rare, random quest that could appear in any stage. this way you wouldn't have as many floating around and you couldn't just rush to get it ('cause it's random) in order to name your "I<3beingan00b"-short sword.
and if you did happen to trade for a (welcometoyou're"doom")-breastplate, you could get rid of the name... although in that case, I don't know why you would.
