It sounded like you were mad that you lost your two boxes, and I was pointing out that your indignation about receiving negative rep was silly, since much of the rep that gave you two boxes was pretty much artificial to begin with because of all the rep-spamming that has been going on since you guys started it in the Million-Post thread.
It didn't carry much weight before that point because people rarely used it, but now that you folks have abused it over the past few months, the system is meaningless.
And getting upset because someone took something away from you that you didn't really earn in the first place is also meaningless.

Based on what Phrozen said earlier today, I think that is what I would see. In which case, the negative point(s) you received that dropped you back to one box merely off-set some of the meaningless spam points you've received.

Just try closing explorer.exe when/before you open it

IF this works then create a simple batch file that does it automatically for you, and place this .bat file in the main Diablo/Starcraft directory... such as

For the most part, I've gone along with the new rules regarding spam, and how previous threads that were spam threads are now in the off topic section. But I still have some concerns and questions that I feel remain unresolved and unanswered and I wanted to start a new conversation about this.

First of all, the declaration regarding spam, "Spam only includes advertising and nonsensical combinations of letters and words now.

Posts that were previously considered spam such as "Lol. Yup", "I agree.", "No, I don't think so." are allowed now.

As long as it's in some form relevant to the topic it is not Spam anymore.

What bothers me about this is my moderator review came in recently to which I scored only average due to a lack of moderator actions in the past month. Granted, for unrelated reasons I have done a bit less moderating recently, but at the same time I believe I've lost points due to not moderating posts that I otherwise would have had we not had this change in rules regarding spam. A lot of what I did before was get rid of posts that were one word posts or sentence fragments. Cause that's what a lot of people still do and now I'm supposed to leave that stuff alone. I was told the expectations for the moderators would be adjusted to reflect this new lax attitude toward spam, but has it really in light of my moderator review?

The other concern I have is regarding this part of the declaration, " As long as it's in some form relevant to the topic it is not Spam anymore..." in relation to this particular thread.

Just what is the topic of this thread? How is anything in this thread relevant to its supposed topic? I mean, it's a clever loophole to call it the ultimate random thread, isn't it? It's like how can I moderate it for spam when not only is one word responses okay, but so is going completely off topic because the title implies the topic is to go off topic?

And since we allowed all the threads previously under the old Spam section to go into the off topic section and thus allow posts in that section to be retroactively counted, isn't that a little unfair? It's hard for me to argue this point with my own high post count without it seeming like a personal issue for me. But I suppose it did irk me that before consolidating the spam threads into the off topics ones, my 11,000 post count went up only by 800 while other members' post counts went up by several thousand. If you want to allow people to spam and get posts and credibility for it, that's fine, but can I at least delete some of the threads that were previously in spam so as to keep spam posts being retroactively counted?

They can still start another chat thread (even though I think we should just have an actual live chat room) and call it whatever they like, but I want to get rid of The Ultimate Random thread. People are still free to chat and spam all they want, and if that's really what's important to them then they shouldn't be concerned about what posts they lost after that thread being deleted because most of them were retroactively counted in the first place and they never expected them in the beginning to count toward anything.

Is any of this sounding reasonable or am I just being a whiny bitch to no end? Cause if that's the case, I suppose I really do have to let it all go and just enjoy my time here a lot less than I used to. But if anyone can respond to some of these questions and concerns I would greatly appreciate it. I hope I articulated all this well enough cause I realize it probably sounds more angry than it actually is. I'm just so confounded about some of these changes lately.

We can't report what isn't out there. For this reason, as has been stated countless times in the past, we post things that are for discussion's sake. Sorry to disappoint you, but new character classes, areas, artwork, lore, and game mechanics are not released every day, every two days, or every week. We still need to supplement it with something. Nothing new has been announced in at least a week, and even then we are often drawing on tidbits. This has been true for years.

We're hoping for exclusive interviews, but even those will not reveal much of anything new, because Blizzard only reveals new things on their schedule.

I think the good folks working on Diablo are doing an excellent job, and although we might not agree with every decision they make, I believe that in the end it really comes down to "they know what the hell they're doing"

Sorry for the double post...but this is what i found out.

Dub Lucifer is using both public free proxies and wingates. And it is quite possible he is using more than 3 different wingates as i am picking up multiple locations from the 40+ IPs in his profile and other account's profiles associated with him.

He could be doing something like this....

[His Computer] - - - > [Bouncing off a WiFi router] - - - > [Central Hub in Canada wingate 174.0.7.101] - - - > [Central Hub in Houston wingate] - - - > [Internet]


Each - - - > can represent a new IP or submask network ip.

One Ip i found, leads to Houston, TX which locates a major hub for the US. Found another IP in France 90.2.31.96.

Wingates will usually create you an available IP in their VPN system.


Anyone can refresh an IP as well.

Solution....


1. Loop his current IP from the server which would only frustrate him and turn off his computer to only grab another IP after reboot.

2. Just keep on banning his IP as he reappears. With someone using these methods, nothing really you can do that is considered legal.

Does Blizzard assume everybody who wants LAN is a potential pirate? Because that's certainly how it is looking to me.

Actually, programmers program with the mindset that every single user of their application is out with the intent of exploiting their program.

Further, I'm pretty sure I have more confidence in a multi-billion-dollar company than any amount of surveys that have shown in the past to be full of false signatures, as was the case with the art petition, and any amount of real signatures. I highly doubt, being realistic, that that many people are not going to buy the game.

Anyone here is probably going to argue further about that, but it's the truth. I'll be waiting after release to repeat it again.
