I know this worked for AoE II anyway, despite all the admin rights, compatibility modes, 256 colors and disabling visual themes
Just try closing explorer.exe when/before you open it
IF this works then create a simple batch file that does it automatically for you, and place this .bat file in the main Diablo/Starcraft directory... such as
Quote from
@ECHO OFF
TASKKILL /F /IM explorer.exe
age2_x1.exe OR diablo.exe OR starcraft.exe (whatever the .exe is!)
WAIT
START C:\Windows\explorer.exe
This batch file should force close of explorer before starting the game. When you exit the game it reinitializes explorer.exe automatically. At least it does when I run it with AoE II
I think its due to the Aero themes within explorer.exe for Windows 7... and something about "Microsoft Color Management Module". But dont quote me on that

I wasn't blaming you for anything that anyone else did.
It sounded like you were mad that you lost your two boxes, and I was pointing out that your indignation about receiving negative rep was silly, since much of the rep that gave you two boxes was pretty much artificial to begin with because of all the rep-spamming that has been going on since you guys started it in the Million-Post thread.
It didn't carry much weight before that point because people rarely used it, but now that you folks have abused it over the past few months, the system is meaningless.
And getting upset because someone took something away from you that you didn't really earn in the first place is also meaningless.

Based on what Phrozen said earlier today, I think that is what I would see. In which case, the negative point(s) you received that dropped you back to one box merely off-set some of the meaningless spam points you've received.
So, I think you're right about Karma, but not in the way you intended.

Y'know... "Bottom's Up," or something...
(I wonder if it's possible to give myself negative rep...)

Well, Frank... my request that you tone-down your outrage was entirely reasonable. It's not the game's fault that you can't always get what you want.
Every one of us who play this mod have to deal with the same randomness; we all have things we want to find, but have difficulty finding them, yet you are the only one since this thread's inception to throw such an immature hissy fit:
If you have a problem with me politely asking you to please keep that level of discourse out of this thread, then, by all means, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Good day, sir.

The geopolitical ramifications of cold-based magicks in the easing of fresh-water shortages caused by tainted wells in back-water, demon-infested towns.
That's why he was lobbing fireballs at you; to throw you off the scent -- he wanted all the credit.
That, or he was protecting his stash of "Succubi Gone Wild..." in which case, using fireballs wasn't such a bright idea, so maybe not.
But, then again, he was "the Mad," so maybe so...
