Will Legendary/Set items have their own unique graphics independent of the "tier" sets or will they look the same?
JasonBender: Legendary items and set always have unique art, stats, names and flavor text.
This is not a clear answer..... I hate when they do this... The question was clearly directed at how the legendary/set items look on your character model not the inventory screen.....Gah this was the only answer I was wanting to hear from this interview! Everything else is old news.

I will transport to a bright area and then transport to a dark area. I won't ever think of the time of day though. Just like taking the WP from act 1 to act 2.
This is where I'm at. I don't care if it's night or day. Sure it'll be nice to have some variation, but this is on the very bottom of my list of wants/wishes/concerns for Diablo 3. I won't even notice it after I play through the game a few times. Just like i don't even notice it in D2...Maybe it will be different than D2, but I'm still not gonna really care. -

That's what I was thinking. Makes me want to draw up something. I'll start working on that. This whole fallen angels, plot twist thing has gotten me excited about D3 again....We just don't know if any of this will really happen...I can still hope though At least it gives me something to do between now and D3's release. -

I think you're right though. For any player who hasn't read the books or read about the backstory on forums, i.e almost all, the jump from killing Diablo in D2 to fighting angels is quite big. While most of us wouldn't frown all to much, or frown at all, Blizzard needs to ease this into the minds of the player base. Which will probably take a while, certainly a few acts.
I don't think it'd be too big of a leap. A lot can be said in videos and NPC dialogue. Even quest items could explain (books, scrolls). I just really hope this game plunges deep into the story. But as you said it might take an act or two. Expansion??!? Plus they could just throw hints or things leading up to this throughout the game...I haven't read the books (yet!) and I don't have any trouble in seeing how we could go from fighting diablo to fighting angels. Keep in mind, a single action by one character could flip things upside down.
imo.

If angels are a foe, the story will need to explain it, and I think it will take a big part of the game...:(
And the game is named "diablo" not "god" or "deity".
That's why this part of it could be in an expansion. Diablo 2's main story revolved around diablo, but the expansion was all about stopping Baal cause diablo was toast. Just because the game is called diablo doesn't mean every part of it has to do with the Diablo character. I think now we're getting deeper into the world of sanctuary.Realizing that there is more evil than just DIABLO. Since the series takes place in the same world "Sanctuary" it makes sense to keep the title the same...Plus the fact that it's a series. Changing the name would be silly. We're not even sure what the story for the game is yet. I'm sure the focus will remain on killing demons, so no worries there. These are just thoughts, ideas, "SPECULATION." -

Dec 16, 2009Legilimens posted a message on Speculation: Will We Fight Angels in Diablo III?I think he was just making the point that there is a lot most people don't know about the World of Sanctuary. Anything in the game will be explained, but you can only be exposed to so much in a game. Just like a movie. Books can usually go into a lot more detail. They would never make it so you had no clue as to what's going on if you didn't read the book, but you might understand or be able to appreciate certain things more if you had read the book.....Posted in: News
Btw. This thread has inspired me to read the Sin War book(s?). I'm going to get it asap. -

I think shiny angels getting stained in blood would look awesome, and be highly original.
YessSSSSS!!! Would they bleed red, or something else? Maybe a liquid chrome, like the unicorn blood from Harry Potter??? -

Not from a story perspective. We fight zombies, aliens and demons (and not puppies, kittens and bunnies) in games for a reason. It is easy to make a story for evil kittens but it would just not be as awesome as fighting headcrabs
True. But, if they end it with the Angels making some dick move. "well the humans have defeated diablo, we don't need them anymore. Let's off em."
I would be more than happy to kill me some angels. -

"Battle the unholy forces of the Burning Hells with all-new character classes such as the otherworldly Witch Doctor, or with re-imagined warriors from Diablo's past, like the powerful Barbarian."
I think this could dash our hopes of fighting the residents of Heaven. I know it doesn't say ONLY or EXCLUSIVELY in regards to the forces of the Burning Hells, but it still sounds to me like we'll be fighting the same undead and demon baddies. HOWEVER!!! Like Dunhac pointed out, there's always the possibility of fighting them in the expansion. I'm really hoping for some sort of plot twist that leaves me dying to play the expansion...It would be nuts to end it with your hero killing diablo (bad guys from hell), again, only to find out Heaven has been playing us like pawns, and now they're done with the pawn.....But what's this? The pawn is no longer a lowly weakling, he/she is a powerful HERO! Now fighting against the corrupt/selfish forces of Heaven for the survival of humanity!!!!! DUn DUn DUN!!! -

Dec 15, 2009Legilimens posted a message on Speculation: Will We Fight Angels in Diablo III?I like this idea. I was wondering if there might be some sort of plot twist revolving around Tyrael/Heaven. 'Cause there was some speculation as to what Tyrael's intentions or motivations really are...Good or evil? I think it would be cool to have to face both fronts. Good topic!Posted in: News

haha I almost peed my pants! Thank you for the laugh.
Bashiok's response has made me curious...I was expecting him to go into super mega turtle defensive mode. I'm interested to see how things unfold. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Cheers to posting a video with slightly darker contrast so you could get the addaboys and hoorays from a bunch of random people. Blizzard 1,000,000; people who think they could have made the game so much better still 0.

My Witch Doctor build can be found at the above link.
Justification:
Firebomb (Fire Pit) with Grasp of the dead (Unbreakable Grasp) should give me the ability to slow enemies down enough to get efficient accurate shots of fire at the baddies. I back that up with Fetish army (Devoted Following) that causes a little bit of chaos and directs at least some enemy fire away from me. Acid cloud (Corpse Bomb) should provide another direct shot method to place specific shots on enemies that are slowed by my mob and grasp of the dead. Add in a little spirit barrage (Manitou) and I've got some protection if anybody gets too close. Plus it's automated so I don't need to micro manage it. I'll throw in some firebats (vampire) for health regen in the absence of potions/globes and some spray to cause a bit more damage.
My passives are death trance for added protection when things get tough; Tribal Rites to allow more constant Fetish Armies; and Bad medicine since I'll be using poison dmg and want to reduce dmg whenever I can.
After writing this, I'm getting even more excited to try it out..... Hint hint, c'mon Blizzard
Thanks!

Agreed.
I am wondering. Are the only good weapons for the Demon Hunter going to be crossbows? They say the class can use "Bows/Crossbows" but other than their earlier concepts (2nd ones they showed look bad ass btw) crossbows are the main feature. Anybody know?

Junction3 hit the nail on the head with diagonal movement.
The walls disappear or fade when your character is behind them. I thought this was evident in the reveal gameplay trailer.

UPDATE: Okay so Airandius did post something about skills not too long ago, but this thread is more about the skill system in general. Coming up with different ideas and guesses as to what Blizzard is conjuring up behind closed doors....Large, heavy ones.
My question is does anyone have any idea what they might be doing now that "skill trees" aren't being used? (or at least they are trying something different atm)
I am just curious how they would handle the 3 skill concentrations per character. The Wizard has Arcane, Conjuring, and Storm. The Barbarian has Battlemaster, Juggernaut, and Berserker. etc, etc....
Do you think they will still have the different skill types/divisions and if so, how are they going to do that without a tree-like structure? Is it going to be tiered? Meaning, you have to spend X amount of skill points in tier 1 of the Arcane skills in order to move to the next tier and so on. If it is tiered, what will the structure or layout of skills be like within each tier? Would it be free reign on all the skills within that tier once you reach or unlock it?
Any ideas?
