The recommended total Power Supply Wattage gives you a general idea on what to look for BUT it is NOT a crucial factor in power supply selection! Total Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important, followed by the +5V amperage and then the +3.3V amperage.

GPU's draw power from the +12V rail and cheap PSU's often/sometimes don't have that much on the +12V so if you have a "cheap" (not always so easy to know) model you might want to take that into consideration.

PSU's degrade after time. I believe it is around 5-10% loss per year and quality of the PSU most likely affect this too. They can also not run on max power for any long periods so the bigger buffer you have the better in the long run.

Also, you will not get a linear 100% boost in most games from SLI, atleast not from what I have read. But that was some time ago so you might want to read up on that. Newer single cards draw less power but are still more powerful then older SLI cards.

Maybe take a look on Tomshardware.com 's GPU charts and see if you can find a card thats faster then 2 8600GT cards and see if you can buy that instead.

My suggestion for you would be to buy two or four modules of RAM instead of three, so you can use them in dual channel. Also, if you want DX11 then you might want to go with ATI's 5000 series, no real benchmarks with optimized drivers yet but it seems to perform very well and at the same time run on low wattage.

posted a message on The New Background Lag
I experience lag while scrolling on this page after the new bodybg was added. And do on most sites that have a static background like this one. When I use no zoom and not 150% as I usually do I get only slight lag. My solution was to block that image in adblock and everyhing runs perfect again.

Also, this problem has nothing to do with internet connection speed.

I think that being able to have 8 people in a game is a must, sure I would rarely be in a game with that many players but when I'm at a LAN party I want to be able to.

posted a message on Bashiok On Diablo 3 Stat Points.
Hi everyone, first time poster here =)

I personally would like a stat system in D3, not like the one in D2 because that was horrible. Took me some time to understand that all VIT was most of the times the best option and therefore had several highlevel characters that really was noway close as good as they could be.

Okay back to D3, the way they have done the stats in D3 (in the demo i presume, check link at bottom) looks like thay have more to offer. For instance DEX gives +x% Critical Strike Chance, +x% Dodge Chance and most importantly "Higher Dexterity lowers chance you will be interrupted by [when?] getting hit". And the rest of the stats all have these wonderful things to them, so all stats are good for every character making it viable to have a stat system in D3 as long it is balanced out correctly.

Doppelganger gave one example that I kinda liked, "what about making the effectiveness of each spend point in a stat diminish the more points you have in that respective stat?".

There is also the possibility that each time you level up you gain less stat points like 1 for each level or maybe even only one per every five levels.

Must also say that I like the idea with auto-stats too, as has been said before that then you can "easily" change your gear and and have a totally different and still good character.

Well that is my 2 cents.
