Quote fromI'm not sure. Maybe that's part of the beta testing thing for the Battle.net 2.0 accounts? They may randomly select. I don't think they've said anything.
Do you know how they did it for WCIII?
On Wc3 you can log on the PTR which is usually called Westfall... Whenever there's a patch you can log on the beta testing via the realm chooser in game....
I think it will be similar in d2.

That is true. But if they would make a few options for every type of item, for an example:
(using D2 names)
Quilted Armor:
1. no right sleeve.
2. All torn up and shit.
3. Its a little but shorter making your Barb's Belly pop out xD
Leather Gloves:
1. Gloves bot covering your fingers.
2. One glove is shorter than the other.
3. Gloves covering more of your arm towards your shoulder.
If they would just make like a few things for each item, it would be nice... And its not so hard too, i think.

I have created a godly painting using my really advanced paint program... called paint, to show you what i mean.
As you can see, this helm has 2 horns in its regular state ( Like the ''Great Helm'' In D2 ).
But with this randomized items system, it will have alot of ways it will drop in, making it more special and better for players who like to costumize thier character's appereance.
Imagine the endless options that you can randomize other items like Armors, Gloves, Boots, Shoulders, etc...
NOW, i know that for this reason there are many items in the Diablo games, to make a big vareity ( is that how u spell vareity??)
and make it possible to costumize apperance, but sometimes ( Like in D2), to reach a certain level of power, especially in PVP, you have had to have certain items for your certain build or character. So, if this system will be implemented, you will still be able to wear the best items for your build, and still look different.
Please dont critisize the image because it took me 20 seconds to make it and it is simply to show you people what i mean by ''Randomized Item Looks''.

If each area will suite certain levels XP wise, it will be most likely that players will play in that area when they are in that certain level. As you progress in the game, different areas will be your ''best place to level up''. If each area is loaded ( and i mean LOADED ) with monsters, and its extremely hard, and it has random encounters and random small quests, people will play wherever they are supposed to and not skip the game ( get rushed ) and do some lame runs ( like baal runs ). And this will also suite the Nightmare and Hell difficulties...
And after you reach Level 100, you will gain XP everywhere you go ( in hell difficulty ).
However, it is most likely that if you are lets say In act 3 Nightmare, and you want to go back to act 2 for fun... You will gain XP but it wont be that good.

Here's and idea: The Barbarian from D3 is sitting at some snowy mountain peak sharpening his axe.

Yea you are probably right.... But still i really want d3 out in 09.09.09 cuz its sooner than 2010
Yea and they said that the testing might take time as the making of the game took... etc...

I think the nest huge step would be actually a step back to making games more simple. Like this guitar hero shit, why do people like it? i dont know... But its simple so every fool can play it. D3 is simple although really complicated, but you can play it just with a mouse like D2 etc...
Games with great gameplay, simple, and attractive.
