posted a message on Am I the only one who thinks there are too much effects ?
Blizzard has mentioned that they want a very powerful feel to the effects, yet at the same time they mention that they do not want an effects overload to prevent gameplay. At this point they are very big on making awesome looking moves, tons of explosions, etc. In the end however, I think they will tone it down just a notch or two to make sure you know whats going on among the madness.

hopefully with some shapeshifting tossed in for good measure

So you want a shape-shifting ranged character? Like, superdruid or something? That sounds a little OP.

I am definitely feeling the burn of the wait already. A whole year and a half plus. I have waited a year to get my driver's license back and that has been a hell of a wait on its own... God forbid what this is going to feel like. Most important thing, I gotta get busy. I need a job, but hey, don't we all?

posted a message on new mana systems
I would really love to see what he is using at this point. Mana I assume, but just curious, maybe he has something we haven't seen yet. Hell, maybe someone will ask this in today's Q&A portion. I tried to Twitter a few questions to that guy on the Live Stream when he was talking to Jay Wilson, but Twitter is beyond me. I don't even know that I want to figure out how to work that now. Seems kinda wierd.

I do like that Chi idea however. Chi seems like it would fit him quite well. I don't know if it would just be another name for mana, or similar to an energy system, but Blizz would really have to work their asses off the make it work right. I still cant figure out how their current Fury system is going to make it into the box. Sure, they fixed how he plays in AoE combat, but how the hell are you supposed to fight bigger single targets? Just hope you can melee them to death? PvP for the Barb is starting to sound pretty lame. I am sure they are going to have to do something to fix that. Its funny too because basically they want to give the Barb almost unlimited energy, but without literally giving him unlimited energy. I don't think it can be done, but I hope they prove me wrong.

posted a message on How will you pass the time?
Playing Ogre Battle 64. Fucker doesn't work on the emulators well so I literally busted out my N64, Ogre Battle 64, and a controller. Never truly beat the game when I used to play it, and I have means to beat its entire long campaign. Probably won't take me that long.

Secondly, I plan to finish reading the Harry Potter series. I started reading them again from the first after I watched the 6th movie, and now I am on the 5th book. When I get to the part where (spoiler, highlight over it) Snape kills Dumbledore I am probably going to read and memorize that page till I can recite it by heart. Then my friend and I are going to proceed in making Death Eater temporary tatoos, walk around random places, and tell people "Fuck Dumbledore's Army, Death Eaters for life!". I really have no life.

Borderlands looks pretty cool too, can't wait for it's release. That might hold me off for a while along with Modern Warfare 2. Spliter Cell: Conviction was looking good for a while, but it not looks like they butchered it pretty bad. DAMN YOU UBI-MONTREAL!!!

Here comes the optimist. I'm still believing in the '09 release for a couple of reasons. The first being the rate at which technology changes. If blizz waits 2 years to release the game they are going to have to update their engine if not reconstruct the entire thing. The same can be said for you guys picking out set ups already, btw I've got a projector warmed up for this game :D Overhauling an engine is costly and takes a lot of time. Personally i think the game looks great and may be closer to release than anyone could imagine. Another reason is the hype issue that has already been discussed. This project doesnt have an unlimited pool of resources to draw from and is going to need revenue to keep going. Now this could mean a shuffle of the deck so to speak. Cataclysm could be put on the back burner, since it hasn't been introduced yet, SC2 has already been moved back, and WoW isnt showing any huge signs of an expansion, thus moving diablo to the foreground. The reason being producing this many games is costly no matter how you slice it and blizzard really doesnt have many revenue streams. You may say but Stoffy, they have WoW to supply them with tons of money in the form of monthly subscriptions, you would be correct but that money also goes to upkeep for WoW as well as advertising, the Black Prince isnt cheap. So between these two factors I'm thinking Diablo will be out sooner rather than later. Obviously this is all speculation and theory so feel free to rip it to shreds like a Barbarian whirlwind through Fallen.

You do realize that they just announced the new WoW expansion, Cataclysm, yesterday right? Mike Morhein (butchered that probably) said himself that they are shooting to release it as the second previously mentioned game to come out in 2010. Jay Wilson simply says D3 will be out when its ready, and they seem far from it. Though their ranged class has some skills and a placeholder animation, they haven't even decided for sure that the idea they are using is going to be the one. They still don't really know on it.

That being said, they gotta get that straight, finish the content (which might take em a little), bring all the items and such, create the difficulties, and balance the game hard. I almost don't think it should take 2 more years, but if you add a beta on top of that, it does make sense.

As of right now, there are no more mana globes that drop. The red globes that drop replenish hp and mana. And as far as potions, I can't recall ever seeing a mana potion in any video so far.

I think regardless to whatever they call it, it will function similarly to mana. Even the barbs fury is being changed to work more like mana.

Is this a brand new change? I personally never heard about this. I was pretty sure only Wizards had a skill that made here drop mana globes, and WD was supposed to rely on soul harvest. Idk, maybe I got it all wrong. I really hope we can find out what the Monk uses tho.

I just hope its a 2011 january release:)

Thats another thing I have had in mind. Just because it isn't coming in 2010 as we had thought doesn't mean it cannot come eary in 2011. I for some reason don't see this game needing a whole extra 2 years, but then again what do I know? Maybe a year and a half? I would like to think I will be able to play Diablo 3 before I turn 21, but it looks more and more like I'm going to get there first...

I just hope Blizzcon isn't the end of the information. Last year a lot of info came out here and there after Blizzcon. About 3 months before it they stop giving us stuff, but still, I wanna see some stuff between now and Blizzcon 2010. I hope for some Blizzcasts (that actually say some Diablo shit) and some official page updates.

posted a message on Monk and Mana?
So, as you can tell I am starting to catch on to this monk. No really, check my avatar. This could really be my guy if the ranged class isn't to my likings. Its definitely my sure thing backup or second character. Out of the 4 classes there are now, I would pick this guy any day of the week.

Anyhow, on to the main topic, I am curious as to whether or not he would use mana or something else but similar. I mean, Barb is using Fury now, and on WoW hunters are using energy now (different, but prime examples of Blizzard mixing it up a bit). What I want to know first and foremost, for anyone who played the demo at Blizzcon or know someone who did, did he use mana in the demo? I have no clue, none of the vids I see have a UI. Maybe I can catch a glimpse of it on the live feed tomorrow. I could see them using some sort of energy for this guy for the fact that he is so fast and agile, yet at the same time the fact that he uses holy magic makes me think he will be a mana based fighter at the same time.

    Any news on this?

Thanks for this. I actually got it live, but due to some unexpected buffering I missed a few minor details. Not only that, I am sure everyone will want to go back, analyze, reanalyze and so on. Great reference for us when we inevitably wait another year to hear some important new shit about Diablo 3.

posted a message on The Monk. Eh...
This is my new found favorite. If the ranged class doesn't hold up to my expectations, I will be rocking the monk. Personally, I love the mix of holy magic with a fast agile character. I love the new combo systems as well.

Also, I love how you won't be require to carry a "weapon" per se. They did mention fist weapons, which "technically" is a weapon, however its based off hand to hand. We may see some claws and such, however I am hoping for some brass nucks and such as well. Personally tho, I love the way he looks with a staff. I just can't wait to see some talent lists from the gameplay demo.

I'm looking at Borderlands myself... what do you think of it so far?

Borderlands looks sweet. I don't remember if there is a release date or not, but I do know it looked pretty sweet. Hope its good when it comes out. I am personally an FPS fan as well, so obviously Modern Warfare 2 is high on my list. I am also hoping a few others will hold me up too, such as Splinter Cell: Conviction, but that one looks a little sad at this point.

Alright, sorry for no personal follow-up. I was watching a lot of the live stream and trying to do other things on top of that (multi-tasked watching and a sink hair wash between panels too XD).

I was actually personally thinking about a late 2010 release date, however at the time I made such a prediction I had no clue about Cataclysm. Once I heard about it I knew it would be coming out first if they announced it at Blizzcon. Here we are, they did release Cataclysm, and now I am personally not surprised at all.

I will admit, I'm a little bummed for the fact that I can't wait for this game, but at the same time I will know they will take their time to make Diablo 3 what it needs to be.

I'm actually not surprised, with Cataclysm coming and all.

Diablo 3 is coming along quite nicely tho. New areas, Monk unleashed, and it appears Belial will be appearing. In the cinematic the monk calls this guy "deciever" and he rips off his robes to be a huge demon. Seems to fit Belial pretty well.

Wow panel coming up now. Hopefully we can see some cool new Cataclysm news. It better be worth it XD.
