posted a message on Sign Of...Delay? *The New Sweepstakes*
So my long 4 month holiday this year will come and go without Diablo. It will probably be released once I go back to my real life and won't have the chance to play the game starting March.

    Fucking...hell...

posted a message on Switching Weapon slots
I hope it doesn't return. We now have a greater variety of skills which fills in the void of having to switch between say being a ranged character and then going into melee combat because enemies have swarmed you. Every class has an escape mechanism.

Oh and having + skill weapons in your second weapon slot just to bo on a barb is stupid and clunky. You may miss it because of the excitement you got for having a higher bo in D2, but it won't be a mechanic that many of us will want to see return in D3.

My hope is that there is a wave tonight.

But being logical, I think that they will have a wave on Monday or Tuesday, after the current testers have had the weekend to flush out some of the bugs and post them to the forums =/

Thanks for depressing me just a lil bit....

Just trying to be realistic so that you guys can see some of the outside world this weekend ;)

No invites so far tonight, and it's nearing 6pm PST, so hope for next week fellas. I'm right there with ya
If you want realism, tell us about the miniscule chances we have of actually getting into the beta. Wave or no wave, I'm willing to place my money on not getting in.

posted a message on An interesting idea to fix skill swapping
    Quote from Designation15

Or, perhaps, in stead of making an inhibition on skill swapping, that effectively debuffs or removes me from combat, just let us switch out skills on the fly.
This has been discussed ages ago before beta was released and a few problems with the ability to swap skills whenever you want was that you'd be doing so constantly during battle to counter whatever new demons you're about to fight.
Finally beta is released and then lo and behold, Blizzard announces that they're going to look into making it a town only skill swap because players would literally keep their skill page open all the time.

posted a message on Diablo 3: Rank14 Gem Time Frames
    Quote from jaclashflash
A couple months huh....Well lets see,
Specific Gem drop Rate = 4/6 per hour
Since when did it become 4/6 per hour, in the OP you said 4 per hour. Nonetheless, both figures are purely speculative.

    Quote from jaclashflash
    Gem buy Rate = x

    3^(14-6)/(4/6+x)/4 = 60 days

Solve for x, x=26.7 gems bought per hour.
Which is 6400 gems bought in 2 months
It's 6400 of Rank6 gems that you're buying. If you're farming inferno, I suspect some more commonly dropped gear would be worth more than a single Rank6 gem. Notice that x is pretty close to a Rank9 gem, which seems plausible if you're farming end game and purposely striving for gems only.

My DL speed is normally about 190 kb/s, so I can give a pretty good estimate.
And mine caps at 2Mb/s, but it's the upload speed that matters.

    Quote from ClockworkBeast

Everybody is getting too hung up on "real" cash vs. gold. They're just two different currencies. This is kinda like raging because a store accepts Canadian dollars as well as American dollars. People with Canadian dollars aren't cheating. They just have a different currency.

The objection to this is that some may (understandably) feel that Diablo 3 should be a closed economy with no avenues for outside cash to feed in. However, in today's day and age, this is nothing more than a naive fantasy.
No, it's nothing like that. That's simply a terrible analogy...

Oh and by the way, if Blizzard actually cared, they could take action against these 3rd party sites, which means the black market would have to be even more discrete, resulting in even less players ever buying any items in the first place.

They tried. There are too many and a lot of them are based out of China. It's very difficult to try to prosecute someone in another country.
That's a good point. I wasn't aware of the lengthy process required to shut these sites down.

So many more people will be buying items for real money because it is now safe, easy, and tempting you every time you take a look at the auction list.

If you have weak will-power it's Blizzard's fault? I suppose you also think that retailers, casinos, restaurants, car auctions, etc are all someone's fault because they're there "tempting" you? 500+ posts in but it sounds like you just crawled out from under your rock lol.
You obviously don't understand the power of advertisement. And do you think casinos, car auctions etc. is equivalent to this? Obviously there are monetary hindrances present when dealing with real world commodities, but when there will be items available in the RMAH that equate to $1 per hour of grinding, and it is easily accessible, wouldn't this sway anyone's decision?
The 3rd party sites that would instead be selling these items are on the internet, away from view. The only way you would stumble upon these sites is if you actually searched for them - which means you wanted to buy them in the first place. The difference now is that many players that initially didn't expect to be buying items will be considering it.

    The power of advertisement.

It's the psychological aspects of a supported RM AH that you're not considering. So many more people will be buying items for real money because it is now safe, easy, and tempting you every time you take a look at the auction list. When you see how many items are coming and going it gives you an indication of how many players are actually buying their way to glory, and this fact in itself would cause you to think that it's unfair that so many are doing so and you'd need to buy the items too in order to compete.

For example, in D2 when you see bots running baal runs 24/7, you realize that they're not getting banned for running these bots and it saves the user countless hours of mindless clicking over and over again. So what is there to lose? Well, the only reason besides having to possibly buy it is that they weren't easy to acquire. Where would you go to find one? Well, what if it available right there in the actual game? This would tempt countless more individuals into buying it.

This scenario is very similar to that of the cash AH. So I really hope it gets taken down...

Oh and by the way, if Blizzard actually cared, they could take action against these 3rd party sites, which means the black market would have to be even more discrete, resulting in even less players ever buying any items in the first place.

which variation of the AH will you prefer to use?

For this reason and this reason only I chose the gold AH. I'd only stand by this option because I hate the idea of a real money AH however.

-Mephisto's Lament-, you're honestly being such a hypocrite. He called your argument bullshit, you threaten to ban him, you call mine bullshit and make your negative emotions very clear, should I threaten to ban you? Oh wait I can't, and whatever, it's not like I would care to do so. Get out of your high chair and debate like a man, not a little boy with more power than he knows what to do with.

All your negativity obviously stems from your firm beliefs in an afterlife. Whether this is a false hope or not doesn't bother you one bit, well fine, but I'm not going to bother arguing with such a closed-minded individual. And I know you'll surely have a problem with that comment so just ban me for it...

Hell was described in great detail as being so horrid we couldn't even fathom the pain it would bring to us. And for all eternity too? This seems like more than enough punishment for your sins on Earth in such a short lifetime. If this fear actually got through to everyone, then we would have no need for a justice system! It's because we have non-believers on both the good and bad sides of the law that we need one. It's the only logical way to punish someone because lets face it, if heaven and hell isn't real (I know you find that very hard to swallow, but it IS a possibility) then these sinners would have gotten off scot-free.
