Not sure about anybody else, but I feel completely let down by the new patch.
Dueling:
They added dueling, cool. Only issue I have with this is you can't just turn it on in a public game. They could have easily just made a hostile flag for your character, so when your waiting for your friends, or at the end of the run you just turn it on and fight each other. If you don't turn your flag on, you dont die, so not sure why we need a whole new zone to keep characters safe. New zone does look pretty fun though......
Craft Recipes:
Again they added a very short-sighted answer to adding new content. Farming recipes is a reason to farm bosses, great! But once you get that recipe, that content dies. And you will never return, just like the A4 recipe, it was easy to get, you got it, and never returned to A4. This will give a month or 2 of farming bosses, then everyone will be back in A3.
Crafting mats: More incentive to farm A3 at max efficiency.
New Gems: More incentive to farm A3, 20 million gold plus the gold you spent on your 3 RS gems.
New gear effects: The high price and time investment means this only increases the need for only 1 high-powered character to run A3 with to further improve that character. It gives no incentive at all to have more then 1 character. Especially since they gave no reason to make gear with vitality (it's still all about super-farming with high-dps mains). So this amounts to running A3 endlessly and along the way having a chance for a new item. If its anything like Hellfires, they will just end up sitting in your bank unused. Especially for high-end characters with good items in those slots already.
Things that the developers made no attempt to change:
99% of rare drops are vendor trash (actually made this worse w/ the crafted recipes in the few slots rares still had potential)
Way too many rares overall, meaning only legendaries and recipes are worth picking up for high-tier players
AH is still the best way to gear alts and even your main until you get lucky with a recipe.
No incentive whatsoever for more than 1 charcter.
No reason to farm anything but A3. (Other than to get your recipes, once you get it, no reason to do it again)
Still favors MP0-2 farming meaning less diversity in gear choices, we will continue to just increase DPS stats.
No end-game content, End-game = A3.
No items are leaving the economy.
At the end of the day, the only change they made (outside of duels) is along your perpetual A3 runs, you will get some mats you can use to forge a new item. Most of these will end up in your bank rotting.
So far, I see no reason for me to come back at this time.

As an avid enthusiast of mathematics, I'd like to point out you can't throw the book of stats at the OP because Diablo 3 is NOT using an accurate model for producing the kind of randomness you're talking about here. Many games that utilize statistical variance ALSO employ a checks and balance system that variably changes the likelihood of a given event occurring to increase/decrease its resulting outcome based upon previous results.
There is absolutely no evidence that Blizzard has employed such an algorithm. It would mean that after a bad streak the system would definitely give you a good streak, or after a long run of no legendary items you will find a godly Echoing Fury. In turn, this would mean that after you find a 2 billion item, you can stop playing because the chance for a good item will now be significantly lower.
I highly doubt that Blizzard uses such a system, based on drops for real lucky players I've seen I would even say it's definitely not the case, but my sample is obviously not big enough. If you don't have evidence for your claim (i.e., you have seen the code itself) I would be careful, because it would not make sense for Blizzard to implement a drop pattern that takes previous events into account.
About RNG/PRNG... this discussion is happening right now in the MF thread as well. Feel free to join if you think my logic is flawed ;-) -

My god, I typed in "how are these people duping items in Diablo3?" To my surprise there are websites selling programs for duping!!! This is scary because one program states its absolutely undetectable no matter what blizzard does, including any new patch that they come out with. They state that people have made 10s of thousands of dollars with it. This is scary for the future of Diablo3 and anybody looking to make easy money because in Diablo3 duping is now a Felony.
True or not, people will always find a way to corrupt the system.

How the hell would I, or you know what will happen if "we" buy the program? How do you know anything your saying is true? Ok so this all might be crying wolf or it might not be. There is not reason to be absolute in your arguments.
I'll tell you what. You go ahead and buy yourself a copy of that fabulous duping program. I'm sure you'll be rolling in dough by the end of the weekend.
Good luck logging in on Monday.
Youtube is awash with phony dupe vids, most linking you to goldseller sites etc.
Until I see the AH fill up with duplicates, I remain steadfast that this is a rollback issue, one that is already well in hand.
Of course exploits will come and go, but I have yet to see ample evidence to believe that people out there have the ability to create $250 items at will.
That sort of greed would be exposed quite fast. -

Arena in WoW, u dumbwit.Haters are truly retarded. Athene owned SC2, but it's not a skill based game for you too, right?Quote from AudioCG
What arena? (still dont see one in D3)
And are you seriously suggesting that Diablo PvP is in any way skill based? If you are your a moron.
How about this, an actual SKILL based game buttercup?
A fighting game, a shooter, a MOBA, etc. Something determined by player skill. If I had a bagillion people GIVING me gear in D3, I could faceroll the arena like anyone else could, exactly 0 skill required.
All Athene just did was kite, for a long period of time, that is more a test of patience and consistency then any kind of "skill".
lol, arena in WoW...
But SC2 is a different beast, and one I would agree is very skill based.
Has he played SC2 at all in the last year?
Also, im surprised you can talk/type, with Athenes balls stuffed in your mouth like that. -

Vessot posted a message on Short duration buffs. (Passive-like spells)Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from pernunz
If you're talking about War Cry/Battle Rage, then it can be a check to see that you have the required Fury levels in order to cast them.
Also, it would just feel crap if you could keep those 2 up for the entire time and only have 4 "active" skills.
For warcry, it's a move that affects others around you, hence I can see why this would be an exception of sorts(though I could see better ways to make it work). But battle Rage is most certainly a move set that would match what this thread is referring too.
I wonder how much thought you gave your reply when you claim it would feel crappy to have 2 moves in which you do nothing with, rendering you access to only 4 other active abilities. What I mean by that is you are already in that state now; At no point is it wise or effective to not have a move like battle rage up and active if it's on your tool bar. It IS already a passive-like move yet with the bothersome catch that you have to baby sit it.
Am I the only person that from time to time notices it's dropped off and that I was basically fighting with only 4/5 other skills? Because if and when you miss the chance to refresh it, from that point in time to when you do realize it's off, you're gaining nothing, and just making the game tougher(less fun in my experience) on your self by even having said move on your active tool bar.
Again, while you can claim these moves aren't needed in order to play, that doesn't justify imo how they work as spells...just because I dislike how it works doesn't mean it can't be improved/fixed.
Thanks for replying though...I'm a bit disheartened to see lack of care for something I was fairly sure more people would agree with...if not passionatly but at least subtly enough to speak up when they see a thread about such a topic.
edit: As for cost, if the move is a minute+ long, then it's not even a issue...the only time is does become an issue is when your in the middle of a fight and it drops off...in which case I feel this is another example of how these type of spells bother me. A passive like spell like this isn't going to suddenly save you or crush your enemies, they'll add to these values in a small way that add up over a drawn out fight...so having it up when ever possible while good, this changes when you need every bit of resource for moves that would be better suited for that moment in time...rendering the move moot. (the costs typically aren't extreme...I personally find them just pointless/bothersome) -

Vessot posted a message on Short duration buffs. (Passive-like spells)I wouldn't doubt if this has been addressed before, sadly my searching did not reveal any threads with this concern.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
While there are a fair deal of issues with the game, and some have been removed/improved upon in the last 2 big patches, every time I try to get back into this game, I encounter the same lame experience of just loathing the short duration buff spells. (examples are Wizard Energy Armor, familiar ect.)
In short, it feels like I'm being forced to click a button for just passive stat results, but if I don't focus on re-pressing that button over and over, I'm not getting anything out the spell itself. (but it still takes up a spot for another spell)
To be honest, unless the duration is very short(Ice armor for example) or drastically changes how the class plays(Archon related spells) I've never understood why games put a duration on passive like buffing spells. (exceptions are if the spell's duration are shorter then it's cool-down time)
Another wizard spell example of where I feel bothered by this is 'magic weapon' gives a change of damage to your other spells, while striping you of extra spell options, so why is it we have to baby sit that spell's duration?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are not timing the spell out to get the most of it, and we are not benefiting at all when its not up, so why is it not considered a passive move once I set it on my active abilities? There is zero gain to not have it up, yet if it's going to be a minute plus long, why even give it a duration?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unless these spells get reworked to give a reason to not activate them until the time is warranted, I don't see how anyone can disagree that it's just not 'fun' to baby sit a passive-like ability by clicking it every few moments just so you're not completely striping your self of a spell slot.
I'm sure someone will claim that I'm not forced to use these types of spells, and while I agree with you, it is not a good argument for why these types of spells have a duration to being with. -

Xenocow posted a message on Two questions for players who vocally dislike the AHPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from SlayardarklawsIt's just that finding them is pretty much a thousand times more enjoyable to me.
While i have been a very strong supporter of the AH / RMAH even before the game came out, this has changed a bit.
Blizzard announced the RMAH as "Microtransaction" Plattform... how they run it today, we all know....nothing with Micro.
I have the Same Feelings as Slayardarklaws, i'd rather find the Loots myself, and sell the Leftovers.
Thats what Diablo has always been about.
The AH should be used as addition, not as a 100% requirement...which it is right now.
In nearly 800 Played Hours i found and use 1 Single Piece myself... rest comes from the AH.
I am kinda sad what Blizzard has done to the Game.
Soap Bubbles is all we get from them, over and over and over again. -

No?
What level are you?
Until you get even close to 100, dont complain about it being worthless... from what I gather a team of players were playing that char non stop to get to lvl 100, they also had godlike gear, and were not even looting, just going to get the p100. just to be first, that has NOTHING to do with how long it will take you to get to 100.
Also, the end game in d3, is the same as d2. This isn't WoW, where a whole new game opens up when you max level, it never was, and never will be. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Oh and having + skill weapons in your second weapon slot just to bo on a barb is stupid and clunky. You may miss it because of the excitement you got for having a higher bo in D2, but it won't be a mechanic that many of us will want to see return in D3.

Finally beta is released and then lo and behold, Blizzard announces that they're going to look into making it a town only skill swap because players would literally keep their skill page open all the time.

It's 6400 of Rank6 gems that you're buying. If you're farming inferno, I suspect some more commonly dropped gear would be worth more than a single Rank6 gem. Notice that x is pretty close to a Rank9 gem, which seems plausible if you're farming end game and purposely striving for gems only.
And mine caps at 2Mb/s, but it's the upload speed that matters.

That's a good point. I wasn't aware of the lengthy process required to shut these sites down.
You obviously don't understand the power of advertisement. And do you think casinos, car auctions etc. is equivalent to this? Obviously there are monetary hindrances present when dealing with real world commodities, but when there will be items available in the RMAH that equate to $1 per hour of grinding, and it is easily accessible, wouldn't this sway anyone's decision?
The 3rd party sites that would instead be selling these items are on the internet, away from view. The only way you would stumble upon these sites is if you actually searched for them - which means you wanted to buy them in the first place. The difference now is that many players that initially didn't expect to be buying items will be considering it.
The power of advertisement.

For example, in D2 when you see bots running baal runs 24/7, you realize that they're not getting banned for running these bots and it saves the user countless hours of mindless clicking over and over again. So what is there to lose? Well, the only reason besides having to possibly buy it is that they weren't easy to acquire. Where would you go to find one? Well, what if it available right there in the actual game? This would tempt countless more individuals into buying it.
This scenario is very similar to that of the cash AH. So I really hope it gets taken down...
Oh and by the way, if Blizzard actually cared, they could take action against these 3rd party sites, which means the black market would have to be even more discrete, resulting in even less players ever buying any items in the first place.

For this reason and this reason only I chose the gold AH. I'd only stand by this option because I hate the idea of a real money AH however.

All your negativity obviously stems from your firm beliefs in an afterlife. Whether this is a false hope or not doesn't bother you one bit, well fine, but I'm not going to bother arguing with such a closed-minded individual. And I know you'll surely have a problem with that comment so just ban me for it...
Hell was described in great detail as being so horrid we couldn't even fathom the pain it would bring to us. And for all eternity too? This seems like more than enough punishment for your sins on Earth in such a short lifetime. If this fear actually got through to everyone, then we would have no need for a justice system! It's because we have non-believers on both the good and bad sides of the law that we need one. It's the only logical way to punish someone because lets face it, if heaven and hell isn't real (I know you find that very hard to swallow, but it IS a possibility) then these sinners would have gotten off scot-free.
