This is awesome! I'm totally drooling for multi-hit staff combos Shaolin warrior style.

    I hear you on that!

My only conundrum is whether or not to go fists or staves.

does monk has any herritage in d2 world? i mean from where it could possible come?

    IDK

To me the Monk looks more Chinese while the wizard looks more Korean.

So maybe around the same area as the wizard?

That smiley must have, like, superhuman eyelids or something.

    That one right there.

Have you ever tried to close the eye on the same side of the eyebrow you're raising, like that smiley?

    It's not possible, I say.

And I know a thing or two about raising eyebrows...

    Definatley hope its not fake!

    Body - weapons and physical
    Mind - spells
    Soul - auras

    All good :)

    Better then my skill trees.

I put Body Mind and Soul into one tree. D'oh

I hope it's similar to your speculation, though.

I'd say it's pretty official, but I'm not 100% sure. I just hope we find out when the Diablo panel starts...

EDIT// and it's not cropped out so you can see the official d3 site

Yeah, in D2 there were some passive based skill trees...

But this isn't D2, it's D3... ;) All of the characters had had skills + passives in every tree thus far.

Truthfully I haven't really looked at the skill trees so I don't know how they're set up for d3...

I really do not think any character will have a skill tree full of passives in this game considering every tree we have seen is already loaded with passives.

Didn't the d2 barbarian have a passive skill tree?
Resistances and masteries and the like?

Well, since d3's skills are set up differently you're probably right, but I was thinking that they would an integral part since real shaolin monks do extensive training to harden their body/control chi/etc.

Well, yeah, I'm excited. I'm just bummed that it got leaked before the event started. If we were told later, I would be even more excited. I want to know more about lore and game dynamics anyway.

I really think that if the monk had any skills, they'd be:

    Spiritual (enhances skills and combat)
Divine (holy bolt type spells, mostly ranged attacks)
Staff mastery (let your imagination run on this one)

Interesting. The Divine skill tree hadn't crossed my mind.

I was thinking it would go something like

Body, Mind, and Soul - Passives ( weapon masteries, iron body type things)
Martial Arts - Tanking Offensive play type
Assassin - Skills for a more supportive offensive class type

    Woah, posted too early

Blah, no one ever likes change. I can't believe how many people are already disappointed or giving up on the class because of 1 image and the title 'Monk'. We have no idea what his story his, how he fights, what his abilities are, etc. etc. etc.

    QFT

It seems like I'm one of the only who

    A) Is REALLY excited for the monk

    B) Is REALLY excited for the other 3 classes

    and

    C) Not disappointed in any of the classes, at all.

I don't! Some people talking in this topic thinks.

    Oh, okay.

I still think it goes back to what I said earlier.

It seems like a load of people are mixing up what the monk is.

It's not a western Monastery Monk, it's an Eastern Shaolin Warrior type monk.

Western monks definitely would conjure an image of a healer, IMO

Omg people what is the sense of making healer class in Diablo?
Play Singleplayer then with him. I'm sure he won't base on healing skills or similar.

Why makes you think that he is a healer of any sort?

I'm guessing this is what became of the Dervish class they had, which was scrapped because people would have go, "WTF's a Dervish?"

The Dervish was apparently going to be Middle Easern-ish. You know, Lut Gholein. The Monk might be the same, or it might be Xiansai(or w/e you spell it).

Man, next to monks, Dervishes are one my favourite RPG classes.
It's too bad it was scrapped, IMO.

I just hope there is a gameplay video SOMEWHERE by the end of the day.
