posted a message on D4 Release Date Game; Wisdom of the Crowd Experiment

Games release on a Tuesday. This needs to be accounted for when you do your math. This only allows for a possible 52 days every year which should help narrow results better. Anyone guessing needs to take this in to account as well.

    My guess: May 25, 2021

Blizzard has favored late spring early summer release dates in the last 20 years. WoW is the only fall release date in that time span. May is popular as both Overwatch and Diablo III were released. May also falls in the middle of the games released in that 20 year span.

It was clear Blizzard was shifting into eSports. It is the future and they will take the risk. The Overwatch League was a huge announcement. We are seeing the future of gaming. Any game that is not eSports worthy will be on Blizzards back burner. It sucks that the focus is elsewhere but eSports means big money for Blizzard.

Be happy we got something as it shows Blizzard is still aware of the game. I hope this Necromancer Pack goes well and they release more packs and continue the free content. If the eSports market takes off we may never see another Diablo game (sales figures mean nothing if it doesn't generate a regular revenue stream)

The announcement is not what I wanted but I am not mad at what we are getting. What I don't like is the Necro pack is coming second half of 2017. The armory and mats tab are coming in 2017. Challenge rifts are not coming until 2017. All major changes to the actual game are so far out. Had they not wasted there time building the original Diablo in the game we could get real upgrades to the game in a reasonable time. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the original game but it is a 1 play through thing. The mentioned changes are quality of life far more important than nostalgia...

No one is mad about what we are getting, we are mad about what we are not getting. Necromancer and 2 new zones in about 6 months is not nearly enough.
I said exactly what you said "The announcement is not what I wanted but I am not mad at what we are getting." It is more than 6 months for the pack. Again I said the Diablo rebuild in Diablo 3 was a waste of time. Some cosmetic items to celebrate the anniversary would have been perfect. Hell they could have made it DLC (5$). TO put there resources into the remake and not into the quality of life changes is the problem with the new content. It is so far out for so little that is the problem.

Looks like not even a minor patch lol.

Yup, a new class is definitely something you can ignore guys. It's "JUST" a new class, with ~24 skills (with 5 modifying runes each), 18 passive skills, probably about 3 armour sets and maybe some weapon sets. Clearly not even a MINOR addition...
4 sets and a class specific weapon as well. New class legs and as you mentioned skills. This is a large feature for DLC. It may not be D3 Xpac 2 but it is something and who knows balance could be coming.

Necro is pointless. We already have Witch Doctor and it's basically the same.

No, it's not. They can easily make it different from WD. Also Blizzard loves money. Blizzard knows people love Necromancer. Blizzard is smart.
    Be like Blizzard!

posted a message on Do you think Diablo 3 will get another expansion?

A necromancer is different than a WD. Just because they summon doesn't mean they are the. Curses and bone spells to start.

A druid is not the only missing class. A javelin/spear Amazon is not in the game.

Has this picture of a male/female Necromancer been discussed yet?

I was not the original poster it was posted on another thready by pipebomb. I looked around and there is no reverse search possible and the original link was taken down by Blizzard. Judging by the artwork it looks similar to the new background on the Diablo III page. Thoughts?

posted a message on What will happen at Blizzcon?

With all the gear in the store being Diablo III related and not the generic Diablo label it is safe to assume any announcement is Diablo III related. Why push all that DIII gear just to release something else?

posted a message on Diablo III: Realms of Evil

So in "The Book of Cain" "Burning Hells: The Realms of Evil" section and the subsequent sections on the 7 evils of hell, three prime and 4 lesser, there is easily enough for an expansion. So if the book is true Mephisto, Baal and Diablo make up Tathamet's head (the book does not confirm this but speculates this to be true). Each of the 7 evils has its own realm in Hell. They are constantly moving and boarders changing. It is believed each Realm is at war with one another (books theory). In the following sections it gives a brief description of each of the seven evils. In each is a description of the realm that evil possesses. One act alone could be hell and all its realms (Azmodan's realm we played through). Really each Realm could be an act if done properly. We could easily start off in Aranoch and make our way through various places Cain visited (find each realm of evil in a different part of Sanctuary easily 5+ acts in DIII [already cleared Azmodan's and we defeated Belial but Belial or both could be easily reincorporated for a total of 7]) to unlock the secrets of Tathamet (this could also be used as a lead in to another game through content patches).

There is definitely a lot left to explore in Diablo III, story wise, and if they truly want to close out the game that would be the way to do it. Another expansion could end with a showdown against a reanimated Tathamet as the three primes found a way bring him back. We could be distracted by the remaining two Lesser Evils, Duriel and Andariel. We could be tasked to bring down each realm, like we did to Azmodan's realm. After completion we would get and ultimate battle in the realm of Terror against Diablo/Tathamet (I am expecting Diablo to become Tathamet and realm of Terror is mostly empty [Book of Cain] so perfect final battleground).

I came up with this baseline in less than an hour. Easily a lot of content that could be added to the game or made into an entirely new game itself. It would be great to get a massive expansion especially considering all the time we have waited or large content patches over the course of the next few years with the promise of another game!
