    Personal History:

A young boy watches from under his bed as men ransack his house as the cries of his family fill the air. The sounds stop and the boy crawls from under his bed nervously looking around for his family. Immense heat fills the house and the air around him becomes filled with smoke. Flames can be seen creeping up the side of the house from the boy's window. He runs quickly down the stairs and outside of his house and it becomes fully ingulved in fire. He watches from around the corner of the burning house as his father is loaded into a cage that is on a wagon. The men mount their horses and move off into the night along with the wagon that holds his father. The boy runs after the wagon and the horses, but they are lost into the darkness of the night.

"Be brave," the boy's mother tells him.

He looks over at his mother who is dying on the ground. He runs over to her and falls to his knees holding her as she takes the last of he breathes. With one last look at the darkness that his father drifted off to, the boy hugs his mom crying.

"It's their fault, these humans. It's all their fault!"

    ***

A man sits at a table reading pieces of parchment with jumbled words and letters on them. As he reads through the scraps as he counts letters, then writes a single letter on another piece of parchment. The man has the letters G, T, H, M and P on his parchment. He turns the parchment of jumbled letters over and starts counting again. He adds an E, T, E, A and S to his letters and arranges the letters which spell out 'GET THE MAPS'. He stands up and pushes the chair he was sitting in back to the table. The candle that burns on the wall flickers brightly as he burns the parchment in it.

He walks down a hallway and stops at a door, knocking lightly on it. With no answer from the other side, he slowly opens the door and walks in. On a table sits lots of unorganized papers and large rolls of parchment. He unrolls one and starts to examine it. Unsatified with its details he rolls it back up and replaces it to its original spot. He then unrolls a smaller parchment and looks over it quickly before he puts it in his belt.

"What are you doing?!" shouts a voice that startles Laist.

"Nothing, Count, my lord," Laist replies.

"You were looking at my maps! You have no business here peasant!" the Count shouts to him.

"No, I was looking for... for my list of duties," pleads Laist.

"LIAR! How dare you insult me in such a way! Who are you?"

"It's Laist Vakoilem, your hired servent."

"I will not stand for this. You are a liar and a insult my ruling upon this land," the Count tells Laist, "Guards! Take this man to the dungeons."

Guards open the doors to the room and grab Laist by his arms to be taken away. Laist doesn't fight it, but they drag him off by his arms regardless. They take him to the lower level of the Counts fortress where Laist is assigned a cell. The guards throw Laist in the cell and slam the large iron door shut and laugh at Laist.

"Looks like you did it now little, man. The Count will have you dead by morning," the one guard tells Laist with a snicker.

"Is that so big man?" Laist asks walking up to the hefty door that seperates the guard and Laist.

"Yeah, it is!" the guard reassures Laist as he grabs his shoulder tightly.

Laist puts his hand on the gaurds forearm and with a quick gesture, breaks his arm at the elbow. The guard falls to his knees with a cry of pain that's lost with the yelling of the rebellion from outside. Laist then grabs the guards head bashing it on the iron bars of the door and breaks his neck. The second guards turns and shoves his sword through the iron bars, missing Laist, who grabs the guards hands holding him to the door. Laist tugs him toward the door slamming him into it as he disarms the guard of his weapon. He twirls the sword and jams it through the guards throat, killing him. He kneels down retriving the keys and opens his cell, escaping.

Laist escapes out of the fortress and sees the masses of people that are revolting against the Count and his rule over the land. Laist joins them in ranks, as he too refuses to let the Count's rampaging continue without any kind of justice be brought upon him.

I think that you should have to gain your MP. With my system layout you have to come into a battle starting with simple spells and as you continue using them you build up more MP as your glyphs refresh. When you get enough MP you can unleash a complex, powerful spell on whatever you're killing.

You saying that they should have glyphs and always have the MP, you could come into battle using complex, powerful spells. Then, assuming your MP would be regenerating, you can continue using those spells. Basically there would be no point to have the glyphs as you would never need to use simple spells.

@Seth, since quoting seems to be a pain on my phone. There would be 2 glyphs per tree. 6 total. I don't know if you meant 5 total or 5 per tree. But giving you buffs on top of it just being you source of energy would be to over powered, I would think.

Ok then, I guess I'll have him decide his killing everyon is wrong and all that.

No, here would not have dueled the Count. The Count surely would have killed him. More like, throw him into the dungeon and set his execution for a later date. Maybe 'fight' wasn't the best word of choice.

It came down to making him a guard, which is too much like zhar's or a helper in his castle/fortress, such as a servent/cook/gardener or the like. I just wouldn't want to steal any of zhar's thunder by making him part of the Count's amry, even if he's just a guard

I also have a couple of questions about the Count's rule over the lands and all that.

Does he only kill the Asrai or humans too? I feel that he does kill both, but I just want to be sure for the back story that I have planned out, which can change.

Also, I just want to make sure that no one else was planning a similar back story.

Basically, I was planing for my character to work under the Count and for whatever reasons he decides to leave and join the rebellion against him. After his daring escape, because the Count wouldn't let him go/escape without a fight.

But I will have my character up by then. Either once I get to a real computer or tomorrow, since I'm off, I'll be able to sit down and brain storm.

    Thanks again.

I agree that the wiz would feel better using mana and the WD using soul or whatever as their energy power, but since blizz said that the WD would be using mana, it leaves me excited to see what the wiz will use.

While working this graveyard shift at work I wrote down some simple ideas for what the wiz could use as their energy power. Basically, it's the DK rune system from WoW, but fitted for D3. Bear with me and my cheesy names.

They would have 1 or 2 'glyphs', depending on what would work better for the feel and pace of D3, at their disposal. 1 or 2 storm, arcane and conjure for each of their trees. Also, like the DK's rune system, they would have 'Mental Energy', at their disposal.

As they use a certain spell it would activate a glyph that would reward them with a certain ammount of Mental Energy. For a simplier spell such as an 'ice bolt' or a 'lighting bolt' (for lack of real spells) it would activate 1 of their glyphs and give them about 10 or so Mental Energy. Now, as spells become more complex and more powerful, the requirements to use them becomes more demanding. So, as you move to things like 'metoer' and 'chain lightning' it might cost 2 glyphs, like 1 storm and 1 conjure, and on top of the glyphs it could use Mental Energy. Even some spells could rely on just using only Mental Energy and have cooldowns on the spells to prevent excessive usage.

Just my thoughts, but I think that the DK's rune system would work well with the wiz for D3.

So I have been reading the OOC discussion and the character creation thread for DoA. I realize that you said that all the spots were full, but seeing how about half the people that signed up actually posted characters I was wondering if there is a possibilty that I could still join in on the RP and make a character too. If not that's cool and I'll still probably follow the RP, but it doesn't hurt to ask :P

Douje gets out of bed and walks downstairs to see Vera and his mother, Frena, enjoying morning coffee with each other. He walks into the kitchen, greets both of them and pours himself a cup of coffee. Douje sits down at the table they're sitting at and holds his coffee with both hands stealing its warmth. He thinks about his dream he had and about the meaning behind it.

Maybe I shouldn't tell Phryx. Douje tell himself. I don't want her to worry; maybe I can figure this out without having to involve other people.

Douje finishes his coffee and the pancakes Vera had put it front of him while he was thinking. He rises from his seat and makes his way to the cabinet that holds his armor and blade. He opens the doors and starts putting on his armor and puts on his sword. He heads to the door, kisses Vera goodbye and leaves for the day.

Douje arrives in a field where a lone sorceress stands, Phryx. Douje draws his sword ready for whatever Phryx has planned for him as she turns around and smiles to him.

"How are we today?" Phryx asks Douje.

"Not bad, what do we have in store here?" Douje replies.

    "Just some fun."

Phryx runs to Douje as he takes battle stance. He comes at her with a slash of his glimmering blade, but she flips over him, dodging his attack. She lands behind him and with a quick spins conjures a fireball at his back. Douje falls to the ground as the scorching fireball screams over him. He regains his footing and charges Phryx, striking furiously with his sword. She blocks his attacks with her stave as Douje's assault continues. With a quick crack Phryx swings her stave at Douje's head and he falls limp to the ground.

It's dark out and the moonlight only shows so much as Douje follows a cloaked figure through a thick forest. He can barely see what is in front of him, but for some unknown reason, can make out the cloaked figure perfectly. He stops at the edge of a clearing that the cloaked figure walks into. A large campfire burns large and bright in the middle of the clearing with huntresses and archers standing around it. The figure walks up to them and lowers his hood, revealing who he is.

"Namahs," Douje speaks softly to himself as Namahs greets the apparent leader of the encampment, "What are you doing? You're a Guardian. You're supposed to protect Intue."

"Douje, Douje, get up. Come on Douje," pleads a voice.

Douje slowly opens his eye to the suns light and a shadowy figure, who he makes out to be Phryx. She helps him to his feet and he rubs his head.

"I didn't even hit you that hard," Phryx jokes with him.

Terror comes over Douje's face as he realizes the meaning of his vision.

    Should Douje:
    A. Tell Phryx about his visions and try to figure out their origin.
    B. Investgate the encampment.
    C. Confront Namahs about what he has seen.

"No, the weather is too bad, I must get some sleep for tomorrow," Douje told himself, walking up the stairs to return to the warmth of his bed.

He entered the room quietly as to not wake Vera, who still slept graciously. He crawled back into bed and pulled the covers over top him. Douje laid starring at the ceiling as the sounds of the storm seemed to pass over the house. They were fading into the distance as Douje's mind followed. Deeper into nothing Douje's mind wandered as he rolled over and looked out his window at the bleak rain pouring upon it.

"Everyone we have to leave now!" shouted a sorceress at his bed side.

Douje jumped out of bed startled by the awakening. Cowering people of his village surrounded his bed crouched from something unseen to him. He looked around panicked, but didn't see Vera. Everyone ran out of the house and Douje quickly followed them out. The sun glared down upon their village as they emerged from Douje's house to the street. It was littered with blood and debris from neighboring houses, but no reasoning to be had.

"What is going on here?" Douje shouted, but his voice was lost in the comotion of the people.

Other people ran down the street franticly from whatever demonic beings terrorized their village. The people that had awoken Douje followed the fleeing people out of the town, but Douje ran back into his house, returning with his armor and sword to the street. He charged down the street into the courtyards of the town to fend off any form of evil. Rushing into a clearing archers and huntresses stood ravaging their village. Frightened people stood, pleading for their lives only for them to be taken regardless.

"Please, don't! I beg of you!" begged a man to a huntress.

She showed no remorelessness and drove her spear through his torso. He coughed blood and fell to the ground. She removed her spear and turned toward Douje, charging him. With a quick side step and slash to her back he rended her dead. Douje ran at another huntress slaying her where she stood. Archers drew their bows and fired volleys of arrows at Douje. Three struck his shield and two found their targets, his leg and shoulder. He knelt in pain, but continued his push against them. He slayed two archers, but more arrows burrowed deep into his back.

"No, this cant be happening," Douje said to himself, "I'm the son of the legendary Geth!"

Douje returned to his feet and fought on killing other archers. An arrow stuck deep into his collar and huntresses surrounded him with their spears drawn.

Suddenly, Douje awoke from his bed. Sun shinning through his window, birds singing and rain drops trickleing from the trees outside. The smell of a morning's breakfast entered his room and laughter could be heard from the downstairs.

"What happened?" Douje asked himself, "Maybe Phryx can help."

    Should Douje:
    A. Tell Phryx about his dream.
    B. Keep his dream to himself and search for more clues.
    C. Warn his village of the invasion.
