It has been confirmed that "rare" will be more desirable in the end game in comparison to "unique". I have came up with a great idea to add more depth to end game itemization.
Since "rares" will be regular items attributed with prefixes and suffixes, why not make a system where certain prefixes and suffixes worn together give you some "bonus", some sort of synergy effect.
These system I am proposing is for items are not to be used as "set" items! This system is for rares is for RARES only, and intended to be much more flexible, rewarding, and most of all, difficult to obtain than set items.
These effects and synergies will have to be discovered through "trial and error" and no one is 100% sure if there is another "bonus" or synergy out there that is better than their current set up.
So for example You have the following rare items: Bleeding Gauntlets of the Wolf, Wizards boots of the Wolf, Heroes Breast plate of the Wolf...
With all these 3 items "of the wolf" equipped you get a bonus called "pack master" which may give you +15vit, +15 stam, etc, etc,
And perhaps there is an even better bonus if you have 5 items "of the wolf"
This is just one of many ways this system can add more depth, complexity, and repeatability to Diablo 3.
Then to make it even more complex, players may see to have both the prefixes and suffixes the same for all items thus giving synergies from both prefixes and suffixes.
IE: Heroes Breast plate of the wolf, heroes gauntlet of the wolf, heroes belt of the wolf.
This synergy will give bonus from having 3 "Hero" prefix along with the "wolf" suffix.
giving you the +15vit, +15 stam, etc, etc, of the wolf, in addition to a "Heroes" bonus
Another way this synergy can be used is if a number of different prefixes and suffixes are combined to create a bonus
IE: Heavenly helm of the Hawk, Slashers gauntlet of the snake, Rangers bow of the monkey, thieves boots of the bear, arcanists belt of the boar.
Since the player uses 5 items all containing animals, the bonus could grant "of the beast" synergy where it would add certain stats
Now obviously this could add significant depth to the game!
I could think of tons of cool synergies from different prefixes and suffixes.
Maybe there could be a set where if you combine the prefix or suffix or all the names of the 5 brothers on Mt. Areat. When you get 3/5 of their names you get a small bonus, and when you collect all of them you get an awesome bonus. Or perhaps you collect all your items with only the name of a specific brother, and you get an awesome bonus for a certain barbarian build that coincides with the name of that specific brother.
Technically there would be a most desirable combination of prefixes and suffixes for ever class according to play style and build, and yes it would be theoretically possible to obtain every piece of gear with the same prefix and suffix, but to do so would require a TREMENDOUS amount of time and effort. Thus adding to re playability and the never ending quest for most players to get the "best gear"
what do you guys think?
Also if any one thinks this is a good idea, and has access to the official diablo3.com forums, please just copy and paste this post on to the official forums with a link back to this page. I would do it my self, but I can't.

EclipseTen posted a message on My Let's Play of Diablo 1Hello everyone...I recently started making Let's Plays on youtube (me playing games with voice commentary). My latest Let's Play is of Diablo 1 and I'm doing a special challenge run. The challenge is to play through the game without starting a new game...I can only use the items I find or buy in the one game. I'm playing the warrior class...NO TRAINERS...legit play. I hope to release one video daily until the LP is completed...as I'm posting this the first 3 videos are up! Check it out at my channel EclipseTen and be sure to comment, rate, or subscribe if you like itPosted in: Diablo I & Hellfire -

VladDracul posted a message on My Blizzcon ExperienceOk so before I start take note, I am not like most people who play Blizzard games or games for that matter. I am what you might consider a dick, and that's cool, helps keep balance between rainbows and blood.Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)
Diablo 3:
I was a little dissapointed with the demo. Of course I was overjoyed that I got to finally play the next installment of the series I have been playing since it first came out, but the demo featured...no hard or giant boss...no pvp yet they do have it implemented (Ill talk more on that later)
Classes as I saw them:
Barbarian - Overpowered like hell. I could walk through the whole demo with just cleave and stun and destroy everything without even trying. I got a few rare polearms and got my damage above 100 and literally 1 hit killed the whole demo. I finished the demo in like 10 mins and sat there wondering what to do, then I found a secret rainbow Blizzard hid in the corner of the desert.
Witch Doctor - He was mutual. Slow at attacking with the skills we were given, so probably not that great in a pvp aspect which is a downer. The scare skill seems useless just like it was in Diablo 2 cause why would you want to scare the monsters away, unless of course you are bad and need to be saved. His pets are what set him aside from the wizard.
Wizard - What a hunk of crap. Dies instantly, does NO damage. A 1-2 dmg staff shot or a very slow exploding ball is what they gave us. Only way to solo the demo with Wizard was to let out your clone and hide back and spam the slow ball of death till 10 mins later things die.
Monk - My favorite. The monk is new so I can't really say anything on him. He has a teleport skill which rocks, he does combos which rule and they take no mana ATM. He is kinda like an assassin / paladin.
PVP:
Before I even sat down to play I asked the rep there if I could join this co-op game and kill my teammates wether it be through PK or PvP. He said "yes....wait no, they haven't activated it in this demo" I then said...wait so they have it at the HQ? He said "Well it's obvious it will have PvP and any game to come out without would be suicidal." Which is a given obviously it will have PvP but...to have it already and not say anything about it..cmon Blizzard...give us anything, atleast let us know you are thinking of your PvP fans here. Another cool thing I found..for anyone at Blizzcon when playing D3..hit N. It will activate a tool that will show ENEMY PLAYERS LIFE BARS ABOVE THEIR HEADS. PVP is in the demo but you can't do it.
Overall d3 was fantastic and I am glad that it isn't a let down and it plays and feels like Diablo (Love the inventory). Just wish there was a siegebreaker or an undead Butcher or something to give it that extra push besides 4 player co-op which isn't that exciting. I mean it is for a few runs but, throw that PvP or that boss battle in...and you are gold.
I know this is in Diablo thread, but I am going to talk about SC2. (Cause im a dick)
SC2:
Love the game, almost as much as D3. Then again SC2 is practically done. I played 3 matches and went 3-0, I didn't experiment really I went with what I knew would work (Marines, tanks). First 2 matches I played were fun and challenging and I played with some cool people. The third match tho and this is why I am making this apart of this is somewhat different.
See anyone that knows about Starcraft knows Protoss have cannons. At times some players like to "Cannon Rush". I decided let's have fun and cannon rush this guy. Needless to say...he wasn't happy. I put 1 pylon in front of his zerg base, and 1 on the side. He jumps on the 1 in front leading me to build cannons on the side and take him out. Now he sends his drones at my cannons to try and stop me...haha. Before I can even kill him, he types in some gibberish and quits the game. He shoves back his chair in a fit of rage and super speedy walks away from the game station, but before he goes back into the line from the opposite direction he peeks back at me who is now laughing at him. He gave me I swear the greatest Stink / Rage eye I could ever imagine. I just wanted to say thank you nerdy kid with a backpack who walks super fast, you have made my Blizzcon. Thank you for letting me cannon rush you and making my day!
PS: Ill be going tomorrow again as well, probably wearing a "Hey your gay" Fonzi shirt, or the new Butcher shirt. I will definitly be Cannon rushing people again tomorrow and see what other shit I can stir up, and maybe even luring monsters into your d3 groups to get you killed....but hey it's fun for me so it's fun for all!
PSS: Notice how the CEO doesn't even acknowledge the Diablo fans? "Where are the Terran, Zerg, Protoss fans? Where are the Horde and Alliance fans? Ok lets continue on." No Diablo fans? Great CEO...way to FORGET about 1 of your franchises. They showed a few clips of D3 from looking back at 08, but he still never talked about Diablo haha. I was amazed. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
